This research was prompted by the fact that there was not enough evidence of such a study into the
setting of goals for young women in this category. The scientific problem was derived from the abovementioned
situation was solved with the development of a sustained program of psychological
intervention that encourages the participation of the team as a group, attending to the psychological
peculiarities of adolescence. The application of the findings corroborated the improvement in goal
setting in that volleyball team, which fulfilled the purpose for which it was developed. The
methodology used in this study includes various research methods and techniques of quantitative and
qualitative nature. We used analysis - synthesis, induction - deduction, hypothetical - deductive,
systemic approach, document analysis, observation, interviews, psychological tests, triangulation and
experiments. The contributions of this research range from proposing the concept of psychological
intervention program, the program itself, providing a set of diagnostic tests adapted for the
establishment of goals that are selected for the initiation stage in sports and the new knowledge that is
proposed for the development of studies in the motivational and will-power areas, specifically some
aspects related to the will-power and sportsmanship in adolescent athletes.
La actividad física en general y el deporte en particular son formas de actividad humana relevantes para
la formación de la personalidad. Ambos se orientan al desarrollo de las potencialidades físicas y
espirituales en función de alcanzar un nivel óptimo de rendimiento, donde el protagonista principal es
el deportista o el propio equipo, participando como objeto y sujeto de la actividad. Es pertinente
destacar la orientación motivacional de la actividad deportiva, es decir, aquellos objetivos y motivos
que impulsan al hombre a la práctica del deporte.
La Psicología del Deporte es una ciencia joven y rama especial de la Psicología que describe los
fenómenos psicológicos que se suceden en la actividad deportiva y la personalidad del deportista, y que
ofrece sustentos teóricos para aplicar programas metodológicos y de intervención científicamente
fundamentados, teniendo en cuenta los adelantos de la ciencia psicológica actual. Por eso en la
actualidad se promueve y aplican programas de intervención psicológica en los equipos deportivos
