Leading events have enabled the region to
spread its image outwards be it through its heritage
with Bliesbruck-Reinheim, cross-border gallo-roman
archaeological site or in particular the mediaeval
castle of Malbrouk of first class international attractions.
The same goes for the very important events
that the Region has undertaken like the Organ
Route which enables some of the most beautiful
instruments to be heard in concerts of a particularly
high standard.
Like the Pierres de Culture which combine local
activities with heritage in a highly professional way
encouraging many different types of performances
in which the stones have a role, or like the great
international exhibitions of the 'Warriors of Eternity',
'The Gold of the Gods' and more recently the
'Golden Fleece.
Indeed it was the fabulous exhibition of the
'Gold of the Gods' exposing the gold plate of the
18
Andean Massif which brought the awareness of the
need for France to turn back towards the Latin
Americas and a greater cultural presence of large
regions like Moselle whose know-how and cultural
engineering are now acknowledged. So, with K6I7
foremost player in Moselle for the baroque music
festival of Sarrebourg, whose Mayor Alain MARTY is
the extremely efficacious driving force, this pluriannual
programme of co-operation for the Paths of
the baroque (which is now based at the ancient
monastery of Saint-Ulrich) forms a real link between
the old continent and the Latin American countries
for whom France is a cultural reference.
I am thrilled with this partnership which I have
no doubt will reinforce Moselle's cultural aura.
