ARTS ET CULTURE_ART DE LA SCÈNE Sur la scène PERSONAL JESUS, DU 5 AU 15 JANVIER UN JOURNAL DE VOYAGE SUR SCÈNE Tout voyage est d’abord un voyage intérieur. Gaétan Nadeau a profité du studio du Québec à Rome pour non seu<strong>le</strong>ment profiter de la vil<strong>le</strong> éternel<strong>le</strong>, mais pour lire et pour tenir un journal de bord. Une façon de regarder d’où il venait et de repenser aussi vers quoi il voulait se diriger. Ce journal est devenu une adaptation scénique, Personal Jesus, déjà jouée sur la scène du Centre national des Arts en 2010. Trois auteurs ont présidé à ce voyage intérieur : Marguerite Yourcenar, Châteaubriand et Pier Paolo Pasolini. Trois auteurs différents aussi bien temporel<strong>le</strong>ment que dans <strong>le</strong>ur approche du monde. Trois auteurs qui, chacun à <strong>le</strong>ur façon, ont rejoint Guy Nadeau dans sa réf<strong>le</strong>xion sur sa propre vie et sur sa propre création. «À travers eux, j’ai pu interroger ma propre vie, explique Gaétan Nadeau. Fils d’agriculteur du Québec, rien ne me prédestinait à devenir auteur. La seu<strong>le</strong> culture à laquel<strong>le</strong> j’avais jadis accès passait par la télévision. Et on se demande un jour comment on a pu passer d’une ferme à Rome, où la culture et l’histoire sont omniprésentes». Nul doute que la rencontre des écrits de Pasolini a touché Gaétan Nadeau. Auteur, cinéaste, poète, essayiste à la croisée de tous <strong>le</strong>s chemins qui ne s’enracine nul<strong>le</strong> part, issu du peup<strong>le</strong> auquel il n’a jamais renoncé même dans ses amours pour <strong>le</strong>s jeunes hommes des classes populaires, Pasolini a toujours questionné <strong>le</strong> conformisme, qu’il soit de droite comme de gauche. De Yourcenar, il retient Mémoires d’Hadrien. «Ce qui me touche dans <strong>le</strong> personnage d’Hadrien, c’est <strong>le</strong> questionnement sur ce qui nous anime, sur ce qu’il y a en nous de plus grand que nous qui nous motive. Et puis, j’aime la pureté de la langue de Marguerite Yourcenar», continue Gaétan Nadeau. Quant à Châteaubriand, c’est bien sûr Le voyage en Italie qui va lui donner l’idée d’écrire son propre journal. Seul sur scène, l’acteur, danseur et performeur nous fera découvrir sa géographie intérieure et ses al<strong>le</strong>rs-retours entre son enfance et ce qu’il est devenu. « Ma mère y tient une place importante. El<strong>le</strong> est ce qu’on appel<strong>le</strong> une habitante, d’une autre génération, fervente catholique. C’est une femme très forte, à l’image des mères dans l’œuvre de Tremblay, précise l’auteur. J’ai retrouvé dans Pasolini cet éloge du monde paysan avec cette volonté de préserver <strong>le</strong>s langues régiona<strong>le</strong>s, <strong>le</strong>s chansons. Une façon de résister à la globalisation de la culture. Et puis, surtout, j'ai adhéré à cette forme impudique où il se mettait lui-même en scène ».
