ARTS ET CULTURE_DANSE José Navas PERSONAE «JE NE SAIS QUE DANSER» En 2008, <strong>le</strong> chorégraphe remontait sur scène avec Miniatures, huit solos démontrant la maturité du danseur. Fini <strong>le</strong>s questionnements sur son art, sur sa place aussi bien comme chorégraphe ou comme interprète. José Navas <strong>le</strong> sait, <strong>le</strong> sens au plus profond de lui-même, dans <strong>le</strong> moindre des mouvements qu’il fait. Il est là pour danser encore et encore. Il nous revient, du 11 au 14 janvier, à la Cinquième sal<strong>le</strong> avec Personae. Et puis, ce déplacement du corps accompagné de musiques qui lui plaisent, ne peut que lui faire plaisir. L’imposture qu’il a souvent ressentie a disparu. Plus besoin de chercher à plaire, puisque plus il sera au plus prêt de lui-même, plus nombreux seront <strong>le</strong>s spectateurs touchés par son travail d’artisan. Une recherche de l’essentiel qui conduit à une danse centrée sur <strong>le</strong> danseur allant à l’essentiel sans effets superflus. C’est ce que proposait Miniatures. Il en va de même avec Personae, six solos, déjà présentés à Bruxel<strong>le</strong>s et que l’on pourra voir à la cinquième sal<strong>le</strong> de la place des arts en janvier. L’homme est plus serein. Lui qui a longtemps réfléchi sur son rapport à la danse, à la réception de ses créations, et même à sa notoriété, a fermé la bouc<strong>le</strong>. «La seu<strong>le</strong> chose que j’aime vraiment faire, c’est danser. Chaque jour, j’aime me retrouver au studio et danser, entraîner mon corps, chercher toujours et encore à me surprendre», nous confie-t-il. «Aujourd’hui, je cherche à être honnête avec moi-même et donc honnête avec <strong>le</strong> public». Peut-être vient-il avec la maturité lui qui reconnaît qu’aujourd’hui, son corps <strong>le</strong> fait moins souffrir, parce qu’il <strong>le</strong> connaît mieux, qu’il l’utilise mieux. «Cela fait seu<strong>le</strong>ment quelques années que je comprends mieux ce que je fais, que j’ai vraiment compris que la danse était ma vie». José Navas n’est pourtant pas replié sur lui-même. Il continue de chorégraphier pour <strong>le</strong>s autres. Le Bal<strong>le</strong>t de Colombie britannique lui a offert d’être <strong>le</strong> chorégraphe en résidence pour trois ans suite à l’expérience de la création The bliss…. José Navas proposera deux programmes longs, dont une vision personnel<strong>le</strong> du célèbre Gisel<strong>le</strong>. Cela n’empêchera pas <strong>le</strong> chorégraphe de mener des projets plus personnels comme <strong>le</strong>s solos, d’autant qu’il est demandé sur plusieurs scènes européennes. Avec Personae, c’est l’univers personnel de José Navas, c’est sa perception du monde, de sa relation avec celui-ci et avec <strong>le</strong>s autres, de son univers, <strong>le</strong> tout avec des musiques qui rassemb<strong>le</strong>nt. De ce fait, il fera une proposition singulière sur <strong>le</strong> Boléro de Ravel avec un clin d’œil hommage à Béjart. Seuls la lumière et quelques costumes différents habiteront <strong>le</strong> carré sur <strong>le</strong>quel pendant une heure José Navas évoluera, dansera et se changera. Le danseur nous offre ses f<strong>le</strong>urs qu’il cultive et vient régulièrement nous présenter. À nous de prendre ce cadeau. Car une fois <strong>le</strong> spectac<strong>le</strong> terminé, José Navas pense de nouveau à se retrouver seul dans son studio, à retrouver son monde, celui du mouvement, du corps en mouvement, d’un corps en mouvement porteur de sens. 6 DENIS-DANIEL BOULLÉ PERSONAE — chorégraphie et interprétation : José Navas. Après ma en 2006 et In-I en 2009, <strong>le</strong> très beau duo créé avec Juliette Binoche, Khan ravira cette fois-ci d’abord avec Gnosis, un mélange tout simp<strong>le</strong>ment stupéfiant de virtuosité, de chants d’Orient et d’autres musiques du monde jouées en direct; une chorégraphie magique, magni-fiée par l’interprétation d’un Khan plus brillant que jamais. Puis, ce sont huit danseurs qui monteront sur scène pour l’exquise et emballante Vertical Road, une pièce inspirée de l’œuvre de Rumi, grand poète persan et figure iconique du soufisme, emportée par la trame sonore de Nitin Sawhney. Dans une œuvre comme dans l’autre, Akram Khan manie admirab<strong>le</strong>ment ses outils de prédi<strong>le</strong>ction : la danse contemporaine formel<strong>le</strong> et <strong>le</strong> kathak, l’une des innombrab<strong>le</strong>s déclinaisons de la danse traditionnel<strong>le</strong> indienne.
