Journal télévisé, talk show et un one man show de…
Nicolas Canteloup étaient au programme.
Lyon, Metz, Marseille,
> Nantes, Lille-Douai,
Paris, Bordeaux. En
2009, à l’occasion
de sa convention
quinquennale, le groupe Eiffage a fait
le choix de la proximité. « Déplacer
notre convention de ville en ville
permettait à nos dirigeants d’être
physiquement présents sur les grands
lieux d’implantation du groupe. Cette
démarche était importante car la
notion de proximité est comme inscrite
dans notre ADN », explique Pascal
Devertu, directeur de la communication
d’Eiffage et grand ordonnateur de cette
convention aux enjeux réels. Depuis sa
dernière convention interne, en 2004,
Eiffage a considérablement évolué en
taille et étendu ses domaines d’activité.
Pour fédérer ses collaborateurs, leur
rappeler les valeurs de l’entreprise,
mais aussi leur donner une vision de
l’avenir, le numéro trois français du
BTP devait trouver la bonne formule,
« le » concept. Aidé par un comité de
pilotage interne à Eiffage composé des
directeurs de la communication de
toutes les branches opérationnelles du
À l’occasion de son centième anniversaire,
L’Oréal Professionnel a organisé
son premier symposium mondial à
Paris, avec le concours de l’agence
événementielle Market Place. Intitulée
« Inspiration Paris », cette manifestation
a rassemblé, du 7 au 9 juin 2009, près
de 4 000 coiffeurs venus de plus de 70
pays dans le monde. Après un Welcome
drink dans le jardin des Tuileries en
guise d’ouverture officielle, six Master
Shows étaient proposés aux participants
avait prévu un show « 100 ans
groupe, Pascal Devertu a également
fait appel aux services de Package
Organisation : « Je voulais pouvoir
compter sur un partenaire qui
m’assiste dans la conception et la
réalisation d’un projet aussi complexe,
mais qui soit également en mesure
de coordonner tous les aspects
techniques.
mes attentes. »
Plus de 30 000 collaborateurs du
groupe Eiffage ont, en effet, été invités
à assister à un véritable journal
télévisé, sur un plateau habillé aux
couleurs du groupe. Un JT animé
par un journaliste et composé
d’informations nationales et régionales
sur Eiffage. « Nous sommes allés au
bout de la logique », souligne Pascal
Devertu.
d’Eiffage. Une manière interactive
pour le groupe de faire passer des
messages à ses collaborateurs. Juste
In celebration of its 100 th anniversary,
L’Oréal Professionnel organised its first
world symposium in Paris with the help of
the event specialist agency, Market Place.
The symposium went under the name of
“Inspiration Paris” and, from 7 to 9 June
2009, brought together almost 4,000
hairdressers from more than 70 countries
all around the world. After a Welcome
drink in the Tuileries garden by way of an
official opening ceremony, participants
were offered six Master Shows over
the course of the two days. During
these workshops, consumer studies,
hairdressing and colouring were presented
on stage. On the same day, at the Zénith
in Paris, the world cosmetics n°1 put on a
show entitled, “100 years of hairstyling the
beauty of the future”. The show consisted
of a magnificent retrospective presenting
all the main style icons from the world of
cinema, fashion or music, such as Rita
Hayworth and Marlène Dietrich. The event
was brought to a close with a gala dinner
and dancing party at the Grand Palais.
Convention quinquennale interne du groupe Eiffage 2009.
2009 five-yearly Convention of the Eiffage group.
avant l’intervention de Jean-François
Roverato, Président du groupe Eiffage
qui, dans le contexte économique actuel
particulièrement difficile, a adressé
un message fort à ses troupes en
déclarant : « Je compte sur vous. Vous
pouvez compter sur moi. » Et pour clore
cette convention originale, l’imitateur
en vogue Nicolas Canteloup était sur
scène pour parodier l’événement. Au
final, l’assemblée a été emballée. La
crédibilité du concept fut telle qu’après
l’événement, certains collaborateurs
ont demandé : « Comment faut-il faire
pour s’abonner à Eiffage TV ? »
LIVE on Eiffage TV…
In 2009, for its five-yearly convention,
the Eiffage group organised a tour of
7 French cities. For the French n°3 in
the construction sector, this was an
opportunity to put more than 30,000
employees and their spouses at the
very heart of an event designed like a
real televised event. News show, a talk
show and a one-man-show by renowned
French comic, Nicolas Canteloup, were
all on the programme.
Lyon, Metz, Marseille, Nantes, Lille-
>
Douai, Paris, Bordeaux. In 2009, the
group Eiffage put the focus on proximity
for its five-yearly convention. “Moving the
convention from one city to another allowed our
directors to be physically present at all the
group’s main sites. This approach was important
because the concept of proximity is part of our
very make-up,” explains Pascal Devertu,
communications director at Eiffage and the
main organiser of this convention, for which
much was at stake. Since the group’s last
internal convention in 2004, Eiffage has changed
considerably in terms of the size and range of its
activities. As a means of federating its employees,
reminding them of the group’s corporate values
and providing everyone with a vision of the
future, the French n°3 in the construction sector
had to find the right formula, the concept that
would work. Pascal Devertu was helped in this
task by an internal pilot committee composed of
the various communications directors from all
the group’s operational branches. He also made
use of the services of Package Organisation, “I
wanted to be able to count on a partner who
would not only help me design and put together
this highly complex project, but also be capable
of coordinating all the technical aspects. I have
absolutely no regrets whatsoever because the
Eiffage TV concept that was finally chosen lived
up to my expectations in every way.”
More than 30,000 employees of the Eiffage
group were invited to a real news broadcast,
on a TV set decorated with the group’s colours.
The broadcast was presented by a journalist
and contained national and regional news
concerning the group. “We took our concept
right to its logical conclusion,” points out Pascal
Devertu. Every evening, the show continued with
a talk show during which certain employees
appeared, interviewed as part of a report on
one or other of Eiffage’s news items. The result
was an interactive means for the group to
present its message to its employees. This
came just before the speech by Jean-François
Roverato (CEO of the Eiffage group) who, in this
particularly difficult economic context, sent a
strong message to his teams, declaring, “I am
counting on you. And you can count on me.” As
a conclusion to this highly original convention,
the popular French impressionist, Nicolas
Canteloup, appeared on stage in a parody of
the event. The public were much taken with the
convention. The realism of the concept was such
that, after the event, certain employees even
asked, “What do you have to do to subscribe to
Eiffage TV?”.
Son et lumière s ou n d an d l i gh t
Kairouan sous les feux
de la haute technologie
in t he n e ws actualités.7
l’occasion.
Fabuleuse et surprenante, la cérémonie
a permis de montrer un patrimoine,
d’ordinaire traditionnel, virtuellement
sublimé le temps d’une soirée. Pour
ce spectacle atypique, une technologie
des plus sophistiquées a été exploitée.
« La technique watchout permettait de
répondre au scénario et de recréer, à
partir de toutes les images fournies par
le ministère de la Culture tunisienne,
de vraies animations. En pratique, cela
donne des incrustations d’éléments
d’architectures et même des
détourages de calligraphies intégrés
aux bâtiments », explique Lionel
Barrière, responsable de l’audiovisuel
chez GL events. Une première en
Afrique du Nord, où cette technologie
n’avait jamais été utilisée. Permettant
The show was staged in El Moussala square, behind the minaret of the Oqba mosque. The spectators
were treated to sixty minutes of enchantment and amazement.
Un rayonnement au-delà
des frontières tunisiennes
Avec l’appui de la télévision
tunisienne, le spectacle Kairouan
« l’Éternelle » a été retransmis en
direct sur 200 chaînes, dans 50 pays
du monde arabe, en trois langues
(arabe, français et anglais). Une
véritable prouesse technique de
la part des équipes de GL events
Algérie et GL events Audiovisuel,
qui a réuni pendant cinq mois 17
personnes. Ce projet aura permis
de fédérer les équipes en interne
et réclamé de leur part une vraie
polyvalence. Une chargée de projet
est notamment devenue script pour
l’occasion.
Kairouan in the
high tech spotlight
Traditional heritage events no longer
have any qualms about breaking with
tradition and using the latest, state-ofthe-art
technology. An example of this
are the sound and light events called
“architectural lighting”, which produce
often exceptional shows. One of the
best illustrations of this took place last
March, at the opening ceremony of
“Kairouan, capital of Islamic culture
2009” in Tunisia.
October 2007, Nuits Blanches in Paris:
January 2009, opening ceremony for the “Vilnius,
European Capital of Culture 2009” programme,
with fountains of light illuminating the city’s
skyline. Sound and light, video projections on to
facades… Today, many cities use high technology
to enhance their cultural treasures during their
heritage events. On 10 March 2009 in Tunisia, the
fourth holiest city of Islam, Kairouan, took centre
stage to celebrate its status of “capital of Islamic
Influence well
beyond the
borders of Tunisia
With the support of Tunisian television,
the show, “Kairouan, the Eternal” was
broadcast live to 200 channels in 50
countries in the Arab-speaking world,
in three languages (Arabic, French and
English). This technological prowess on
the part of the GL events Algeria and
the GL events Audiovisual teams required
five months’ work for 17 people.
This project made it possible to federate
internal teams and required real versatility:
one project manager even had to
become the script-girl for the occasion!
culture 2009”. The show was staged in
El Moussala square, behind the minaret of the
Oqba mosque. The spectators were treated to
sixty minutes of enchantment and amazement.
As a backdrop to the six choreographed scenes
–on themes ranging from the history of the city to
poetry, via science and knowledge– a trompel’oeil
was projected on to a façade measuring
60 m in length and 6 m in height, as well as on to
the minaret, itself 12 m long and 20 m high. The
show, “Kairouan, the Eternal” was accompanied
by music composed specially for the occasion.
This fabulous and surprising ceremony made it
possible to show the city’s heritage, generally so
traditional, virtually sublimated for an evening.
This highly unusual show required the use of
ultra-sophisticated equipment. “The watchout
technique made it possible to respond to the
scenario and recreate, using the images provided
by the Tunisian Culture minister, real animations.
In practical terms, the result was elements that
appeared to be incrusted into the architecture and
even outlines of calligraphy integrated into the
buildings,” explains Lionel Barrière, audiovisual
manager at GL events. The show was the first time
this technology had been used in North Africa. By
making it possible to pilot several video projectors
simultaneously and giving the impression that
the background image in the décor was real, the
technology also made it possible to attain the
objective of the show: to place ancestral Islam at
the heart of the present and promote its potential
in contemporary culture.
Installations In s tal l at i on s
Manifestations sportives :
It’s sometimes a challenge to get temporary structures up and working by the deadline
Lors de la Coupe des
> Confédérations, les
États-Unis ont réalisé
un véritable exploit en
éliminant l’invincible
Espagne en demi-finale. Dans les
coulisses, GL events, a, lui aussi,
effectué une vraie performance.
En partenariat avec la société sudafricaine
Oasys Innovations – avec
laquelle il s’était vu confier la
gestion des principales installations
temporaires de cet événement par
le Comité d’Organisation de la FIFA
World Cup 2010 – GL events a, en effet,
jeu.
type. » Aujourd’hui, c’est une évidence.
Sports events:
amazing
performances also
happen backstage!
Last June, GL events was responsible for
installing the main temporary structures
required for football’s Confederations
Cup, which was held in South Africa. A
real feat in logistical terms, confirming
the group as a key player in major
international sports events.
At the football Confederations Cup, the
>
United States caused a sensation when
they knocked out the seemingly
invincible Spanish team in the semi-finals.
Backstage, GL events was also putting in a
sensational performance: in partnership with
the South African company, Oasys Innovations
–to whom management of the main temporary
structures for this event was given by the
Organisation Committee for the FIFA World Cup
2010– GL events put up, on schedule and without
hiccup, 26,787 m 2 of structures of all types.
Such a feat may seem nothing special once put
into context. In the last few years, GL events has
worked on a large number of major sports events:
the rugby world cup in France in 2007, the UEFA
Euro 2008 football competition in Switzerland
and Austria, the Olympic Games in Beijing in
2008, the 2009 World Ski Championships in
Val d’Isère… How has the group managed to
build up such an impressive list? Sébastien
Brunet, the international development manager,
explains that “GL events has the advantage of
not specialising in just one particular profession
(structures, layout, audiovisual, electricity, etc.),
but is, instead, “multi-specialist”. This model
makes us more appealing to organisation
committees who prefer to have a single service
provider rather than having to make calls for
tender on a product-by-product basis”. The
group’s success also lies in its tried and tested
work methods, giving it the means to do justice
to the world’s greatest athletes. “The members
of our team are used to working together,
including in a foreign setting. They all have the
same understanding of the procedures that need
to be adopted, particularly because we have
developed standard documents for each stage of
a project,” confirms Xavier Becker, the director
for major international projects at GL events.
Such methodology is unavoidable in situations
where major obstacles are commonplace. For
an event like the Confederations Cup, in addition
to FIFA and the Organisation Committee, the
GL events teams must understand and integrate
the priorities for television, security, protocol and
so on. For this type of event, the teams must
also be able to show stamina, as preparing and
producing an international sports events can take
several years. “Our work starts way upstream.
As soon as a host country or city is designated for
a given competition, our aim is to demonstrate
our know-how,” explains Sébastien Brunet. Over
time, the GL events teams have succeeded in
making a name for themselves. This is confirmed
by Eugene van Vuuren, the technical consultant
for the International Cricket Council and the
FIFA World Cup 2010 Organisation Committee,
who discovered the group in 2007 at the Cricket
World Cup in the West Indies, “The fact of having
worked in a wide range of different countries,
often in difficult conditions and with very short
deadlines, explains why GL events was chosen
for the Confederations Cup in South Africa. The
group has highly experienced and very skilled
staff, capable of anticipating and taking up the
various challenges facing projects of this type.”
Today, this seems perfectly obvious.
Equita’ : l’événement cheval
in t he n e ws actualités.9
According to Michel Robert, one of France’s
greatest showjumping champions, Équita’ “is
one of the best French competitions”.
« Pour nous cavaliers,
> Equita’ est l’un des
meilleurs concours
indoor d’Europe. Il y a
de l’espace, les chevaux
évoluent dans le confort, le public est
au contact des animaux… Tout cela fait
que l’ambiance est superbe. » Michel
Equita’.
Jumping et FEI World Cup Dressage.
EQUITA’: the horse
event
A successful trade show embraces all
the latest trends. In today’s world, this
means diversification in terms of what
is on offer. In the 15 years since it was
created, Equita’ has become the perfect
illustration of this fact. Equita is a real
trade show, but is also a show in its own
right. This event has the particularity
of also being a world renowned horseriding
event.
> “For us riders, Équita’ is one of the best
indoor competitions in Europe. There’s
plenty of space, the horses are
comfortable and the public are close to the
animals… When taken together, it all makes for a
great atmosphere.” Michel Robert, one of
France’s greatest showjumping champions, has
nothing but praise for Équita’. “It’s one of the best
French competitions and there is considerable
potential for development. For the Federation,
Equita’ is a major date on the
calendar.” Dominique Faye, the
international relations manager
for the French Horse-riding
Federa tion is equally enthusiastic
about the show. “For breeders
like me, Équita’ is a real
showcase. It’s an opportunity for
us to show our know-how in the
field of horse breeding. There is
no way we could miss this show.”
According to Michel Levrat, who
breeds horses for showjumping
competitions in the Ain département
in France, Équita’ has become a
must. All the professionals in the
horseriding sector are unanimous. And so is the
general public as, in 2008, no less than 83,000
visitors came to Eurexpo Lyon. They all understand
that Equita’ is both a dynamic, commercial trade
show, a renowned international competition and
a unique show. How, in just 15 years, has this
event, created from nothing, succeeded in making
itself essential to the third largest French Olympic
Federation? According to Sylvie Robert, Equita’s
commissioner general, the secret lies above all
“in the professionalism and passion that drive our
team, which is composed essentially of
horseriders. For us, horses are the perfect
illustration of beauty, expressiveness, rigour,
strength and grace. We have succeeded in
making Équita’ what it is today in the name of this
passion.” But passion is not everything. Sylvie
Robert explains that mobilising all the services of
GL events is also a key factor in the success of the
event, “A meeting of minds… This phrase is
usually used to define a group spirit, but it is
perfectly suited to Equita’.” It is effectively thanks
to this synergy that Équita’ has succeeded in
becoming, just fifteen years after it was first
created, an important stage in the showjumping
and dressage world cup: the Rolex FEI World
Cup Jumping and the FEI World Cup
Dressage. In the mid-term, this trade show aims
to organise the final of the world cup in both
disciplines. Just one more hurdle to jump…
After three days of the Congress, it’s a real pleasure to
see the wealth of discussions and opportunities for gathering
information offered to all of us, not only through
the programme of presentations, poster sessions and
visits, but also through the exhibition, the breaks and
the times set aside for relaxation, meetings and making
contacts.
We are pleased because this was one of the objectives
of the entire French road community, marking its commitment
to the Congress from its beginnings, alongside
PIARC.
In particular, I would like to take this chance to highlight
the excellent collaboration between companies, local
authorities and government departments, which has
made possible, for example, a variety of visits, placed
within their real political and social context and focusing
on sustainable development, which is today the number
one goal of our world road transport community.
I also take this opportunity to express my heartfelt
thanks to the companies and organisations which have
helped in organising the Congress, made their contributions
to it and are publicizing its running and results.
special thanks to those which have chosen to sponsor
the Congress financially. They will have contributed to
giving us moments of conviviality and celebration, practical
working tools and long-lasting memories of a time
which we hope will prove useful for every participant, for
our national road communities and for PIARC, whose
weighty duty it is to keep bringing us together again and
again to examine our problems, our questions, our solutions
and our research. The Paris Congress is already
> estimados amigos y amigas congresistas,
nuestras soluciones, nuestras investigaciones
> I have very much enjoyed participating with you in
this week of discussions.
With more than 4,000 Congress participants and
exhibitors, the 23 rd World Road Congress has been a
real success and I wish to offer you my warm thanks
on behalf of the Ministry for ecology, sustainable
Development and spatial Planning, which has worked
towards the preparation of this event over the past
three years.
To make sure no practical difficulties would stand in
the way of our exchanges, my constant concern has
been to offer you the best possible welcome. I hope
that this objective has been achieved.
My other objective was that this Congress should
constitute an important step for the road and road
transport community on the path to sustainable
development. Judging from the contents of presentations,
the exhibition and technical visits, it is clear that
the actors of the world road community are keenly
aware of this issue and of their responsibilities in the
matter.
In giving you my summary of the Congress this afternoon,
I will have the opportunity of submitting to you
what I feel has transpired from our productive discussions
—the factors that will play a decisive role
in the way many of us will design and implement our
transport policies.
I wish you all a safe and happy return to your regions
and countries and I hope to see you again in 2011 in
Mexico for the 24 th World Road Congress.
d’usage. Apprendre ces vocabulaires
prend du temps.
Y a-t-il une vraie transversalité
des connaissances en matière
d’émulsion ?
J.E P : Oui. Mais la difficulté est de
traduire un problème exprimé en termes
de propriétés d’usage et performances
en termes physico-chimiques et en
paramètres de procédé de fabrication.
Live communication around an event is
one of the little extras that can make all
the difference. Using certain innovative
media solutions adds a touch of
proximity and user-friendliness for the
participants. It also provides a greater
impact on the outside world.
The first possibility is the daily newspaper
>
for the congress or trade show. Every
morning, as the Conference Centre or
Exhibition Centre opens, participants are given a
free newspaper devoted exclusively to their event.
This daily information, published in several
languages and using the event’s graphic charter,
offers its readers background articles on the
themes covered at the congress or trade show,
interviews, and reports on the various activities
and evenings organised as part of the event.
When the participants look at the front page and
see a photo taken the night before at the gala
dinner, they are really surprised! Esprit Public, a
communication consultancy, launched its first
event tabloids at the United Local Governments
Congress, then at trade shows organised by the
Maison de la France, as well as the World Road
Congress and the World Emulsion Congress. By
setting up on site a mini-editorial team and a prepress
studio, the client-organiser became the
co-senior editor and thus retained control of both
content and communications.
fait le tour de ce qu’est une émulsion ;
on commence à modéliser, et dans
quelques années, on saura calculer
de nombreux paramètres. Aujourd’hui,
You are the facilitator of the
Scientific Committee. Is it easy
to get people from such varied
fields to work together?
J.E Poirier: Yes, it is easy, because
the people in question are willing and
enthusiastic, and very keen to take
part in the congress, exchange information
and step outside their usual
context. No, it isn’t easy, because
there is a lack of common vocabulary
for making such exchanges. Not at
the scientific level, because physicists,
chemists and people working in the
field of simulation use the same vocabulary.
The problem comes from the
fact that each profession has its own
way of describing phenomena and
end-use properties. Learning all this
terminology takes time.
Can it be said that there is
genuine transversality of
knowledge in the field of
emulsions?
J.E P: Yes. But the trouble is translating
a problem expressed using
the vocabulary of end-use properties
and performances into physical and
chemical terms, and manufacturing
process parameters. Few people are
capable of jumping back and forth
between a particular profession and
the world of science. It takes time,
and requires both general knowledge
and a real ability to juggle with the
concepts used in both worlds.
This is the problem as I see it today.
The first three congresses, plus this
one, have looked at emulsions from
every angle. Models are starting to
be made and, in a few years’ time,
we will be able to calculate a wide
range of parameters. Today, you can
feel that people need to talk about
applications again, take another look
at their profession and get more
profound understanding of the scientific
aspects of their products. This
also implies that they are able to
do so, and have the corresponding
scientific background. We thus need
industrialists capable of approaching
scientists. For example, we need road
surface specialists who are capable
of listening to what is happening in the
cosmetic industry and extracting the
information that could be transposed
into their sector. This is the real challenge
for the future.
chercheur passionné. Ses travaux
ont permis d’explorer un nouveau
domaine de la chimie : « la chimie
supra moléculaire ». Il l’a nommée
ainsi parce qu’elle s’intéresse aux
entités complexes formées par
l’association de deux ou plusieurs
espèces chimiques liées par des
forces intermoléculaires, alors que
la chimie moléculaire étudie les
covalentes.
Jean-Marie Lehn is a professor of
chemistry at the Collège de France.
He is also a passionate researcher
whose work has allowed him to
explore a new field, “supramolecular
chemistry”. He chose this
name because the field concerns the
complex entities formed by associating
one or more chemical species,
bound by intermolecular forces.
Molecular chemistry on the other
And what about the next
congress?
J.E P: A huge amount of preparation
goes into this type of congress,
and industrialists must continue to
invest. Preparations start two and a
half years before the congress: our
Scientific Committee has met seven
times since December 2004 to define
the themes, find the experts, put
together the contents of the workshops,
launch the call for papers and
Tabloids, radio, TV
Other traditional media, such as radio, have also
invested in the event industry. Radio is a reactive
medium par excellence, as well as being the
medium for proximity and user-friendliness. It
has excellent performances at event operations
that aim to raise awareness, provide information
or motivate teams. For example: Coca-Cola ® ,
in the context of their annual new product
referencing operations. For a limited period of
only two or three weeks, Coca-Cola ® deploys its
sales force all over France in order to inundate the
market. All the sales staff must do their utmost to
prevent a slump in their energy levels or keep
morale high. To accompany them throughout
the operation, Package Organisation, an events
agency, and Esprit Public created a radio station
that can be tuned into by all the sales staff via
their mobile phone. On the radio, they can hear
the day-to-day results obtained by the various
teams, but above all, anecdotes, reports from the
field, and advice. It has become a must for the
sales teams who now fight over who gets to go on
air, where they can chat with the journalist who
hosts the programmes.
Television and the Internet are important, too, of
course. GL events audiovisual used innovation
to mark the last SIRHA event (International
Trade show for the Restaurant, Hotel and Food
industries), for example. The result was a real “on
line digital package”, available in just one click
and, using a play-list, internet users could watch
the SIRHA News and Bocuse d’Or competition live,
as well as select videos on demand (VOD). Almost
600,000 videos were thus viewed in 106 countries.
In addition to being an excellent presentation of
the event, it was above all a wonderful opportunity
for the event to be shared with participants unable
to make the trip. Four restaurants in the Czech
Republic were thus able to transmit the Bocuse
d’Or competition live on site! It was also an
opportunity to make the often costly audiovisual
captation installations profitable by selling the
exclusive images obtained. This is undoubtedly
an economic model for the future. There is no
room for further doubt –meetings have become a
medium in their own right.
Développement
durable :
l’enjeu majeur
raisons – image, business, convictions
– combien elles ont intérêt à prendre
en compte le développement durable :
accroissement de leur potentiel d’innovation ;
développement de nouvelles compétences ;
Octobre/October 2009 - GL events magazine
14.Dossier
Qu’est-ce que
le développement
durable ?
Blanc-Shapira.
Dossier.15
La tendance n’est plus
> à l’éphémère. En créant
Reversible en 2006, spécialiste
de la récupération et
réutilisation de bâches PVC
imprimées, Jean-Marc Imberton l’a vite
Catherine Machado, designer d’espaces
durable ?
Emmanuelle Coratti & Henri de Rohan-
Chabot : De nombreuses initiatives existent
E. C. & H. R.-C. : Notre démarche RSE
couvre trois domaines d’actions.
» L’homme a
Sustainable
development:
a major
concept
for event
organisation
For professionals in the event
organisation sector, sustainable
development has become a priority
for several reasons: clients request it,
there is pressure through legislation
and it represents the future in terms
of economic development.
>
The concept of sustainable development
has been slow to get a foothold in the
world of business. From the
appearance of the expression “sustainable
development” in 1980, in a United Nations text, to
it being taken into account in companies, fifteen
years were needed. It was not until the Earth
Summit in Rio in 1992 that sustainable
development took on its political tone and became,
as a result, a major concern for businesses. Since
then, the phenomenon has gone from strength to
strength. Fortunately, say the scientists, given the
state of emergency for the Earth’s health and that
of our future generations. “We have produced
phenomena that we cannot control. We have
simply turned the other way,” Yann Arthus-
Bertrand reminds us in his film, “Home”. Today,
then, regardless of sector of activity, all companies,
big or small calculate, in various ways (image,
business, convictions…) to what extent taking
sustainable development into account is an
advantage: it increases their potential for
innovation, allows them to develop new skills,
enhances customer loyalty, allows them to
conquer new markets, respects the environment,
motivates their staff by means of a commitment
to an environmental and social policy that is
willing and responsible, and so on…
Adopting an eco-design approach
In the trade fair, trade show and congress sector,
professionals have become deeply involved in
this field. “It might seem somewhat surprising to
talk of sustainable development in the context of
a profession such as ours, ephemeral by nature.
By definition, our activity has a very real impact
on the environment, with the transportation of
people and materials, the creation of décors that
will be taken down after very little time, and all the
waste produced by the activity. However, whilst
continuing to do their job, a very large number of
professionals are trying very hard to reduce this
impact,” says Dan-Antoine Blanc-Shapira, the
Vice-President of the Association of consultant
agencies in event communication (Association
des Agences Conseil en Communication
Événementielle, ANAé) and founder of the
agency, Sensation. The companies in the event
organisation sector are effectively trying to take
environmental concerns into account when
designing their products or services. They are
closely studying their supply sources for raw
materials and packaging (culture conditions and
work conditions for the employees,…), waste
management, the processes used, and so on. Many
companies have adopted an eco-design approach,
which is a global vision that covers all the stages
in the life cycle of a product, “from the cradle
to the grave”: manufacture, distribution, use,
elimination. “In the past, there is no doubt that our
profession generated far too much waste. Today,
there is considerable recycling of all the materials
used in stands,“ confirms Annie Arsaut Mazières,
the Managing Director of Foires, Salons, Congrès
et Événements de France (FSCEF). So as not to
work only on isolated actions, on the initiative of
the ANAé the associations and professional event
organising trade unions decided, with the support
of the ADEME, to commit themselves collectively
to an eco-responsible approach. In November
2006, they signed a common charter. “Just getting
everyone to sit together around the same table
was a first in the event organising sector,” explains
What is
sustainable
development?
Sustainable development is a method
of economic development that tries to
reconcile social and economic progress
with the preservation of the environment.
The principle consists in developing an
activity that takes into account that activity’s
impact, in the short, mid- and long term, on
the environment, on social conditions and
on ethical matters, all at the global level.
The concept of sustainable development
is based on the need to preserve the
planet’s resources for future generations,
whilst nevertheless maintaining the aim of
growth. It implies good coordination, total
transparency between all the key players in
a given sector, and the support of political
organisations.
ADEME:
the carbon
footprint
is not a finality
Carbon footprint. When sustainable
development is mentioned in the context
of the event organisation sector, this tool,
which is designed to calculate greenhouse
gas emissions, is highlighted everywhere.
According to the French agency for the
environment and energy control (Agence
de l’Environnement et de la Maîtrise
de l’Énergie, ADEME), although it is
undoubtedly a good thing, it is not enough.
In other words, the carbon footprint is not
a finality. “It’s just a photo taken at a given
moment in time, which should subsequently
make it possible to make real decisions
with regard to sustainable development,”
says Florence Barbett, the ADEME’s
communication manager. According to the
ADEME, all organisers of trade shows, trade
fairs or congresses must do a number of
different things in order to really adopt
a sustainable development approach:
informing clients of the eco-design of their
stands, using renewable energy sources,
Dan-Antoine Blanc-Shapira. One year later, these
same partners created, together, an “eco-guide”,
a sort of road map for eco-responsible events.
The guide presents, in the form of technical
information sheets, a collection of the “good
practices” known today, divided into ten topics:
transport, accommodation and reception, rental
of tableware and furniture, decorating and
producing stands, lighting and sound, and so on.
In the opinion of Annie Arsaut-Mazières, this type
of collective initiative is the perfect illustration of
how the French professionals in the trade fair,
trade show and congress sector are some of
today’s most motivated Europeans in sustainable
development. “In terms of waste processing,
Germany and Spain are very advanced. But when
it comes to economic development, maintaining
employment at the local level – which is a major
factor in sustainable development – our trade
fairs, trade shows and congresses are models
for the rest of Europe. They play a major role in
bringing dynamism to the regions.”
A real raising of awareness
If, in France, the professionals from the trade
fair, trade show and congress sector have in
the last few years stepped up their commitment
encouraging soft transportation methods for
access to the site, waste processing, using
seasonal products in the food provided for
visitors, paying suppliers on time so that
they do not find themselves in any difficulty,
employing handicapped people, and so on.
The list of measures to be taken for an event
to be part of a sustainable development
approach is almost infinite. Florence Barbett
goes even further, “For the ADEME, all
this is a given fact today. Now, the most
important thing for us is to help those who
take real ecological risks, who innovate and
who open up new avenues for the future”.
VIP area at the Première Vision trade show, designed and decorated with natural materials.
to sustainable development, the phenomenon
can be explained in particular by the change
in mentality. Today’s citizens, consumers and
local collectivities are ready. Their demand is
such that they create supply. Dan-Antoine Blanc-
Shapira confirms, “For events, more than two
thirds of our clients want eco-designed services.
Following on from the role played by Nicolas
Hulot at the last French presidential election,
the Grenelle de l’Environment, and the films by
Al Gore and Yann Arthus-Bertrand, we have felt
that a certain degree of awareness has been
attained”. Does this raised awareness of ethical
concerns also affect companies, or are they still
above all focused on the prospect of increasing
their market share? Dan-Antoine Blanc-Shapira
answers this question without hesitation: “Certain
professionals in the event organising sector are
taking an interest in sustainable development
in an opportunistic manner. On this subject, I
am one of those who believes it is necessary to
remain pragmatic. Any initiative that ultimately
plays a part in reducing our impact on the
environment is worthwhile. In the United States,
there is talk of “green business” as a means of
emerging from this period of crisis. And that is a
very good thing”.
Recycling
Anything is
possible if you
have you the ideas
Recycling the materials used in
the event organisation sector is
booming. In this field, structures
such as Reversible or Art Gens
have shown boundless creativity,
resulting in products that were totally
unimaginable in the past.
> The trend is now for long-lasting
products. Jean-Marc Imberton
created Reversible in 2006,
specialising in the recovery and reuse of printed
PVC tarpaulins. He soon realised that, “We
chose to go along the eco-design route,
breathing new life into more than 45 tonnes of
tarpaulin. With our teams of designers, we have
taken the risk of revealing the visual potential
behind these supports, with their multitude of
real graphic masterpieces.” This is how PVC
tarpaulins, materials that are usually difficult to
deal with at the end of their lifespan (dump or
incineration), have become fashion and
decoration accessories that are distributed via
the Internet and in a network of designer
boutiques and department stores in France and
all over the world. The bags, “Sakoch” and
“Sakafille”, lights “Sakalanterne”, deckchair
“Sakacool” and even a hat, “Sakapluie”, are just
a few examples of these unique creations. As
for the off cuts that are not used, they are
recycled by the company Texyloop, thus bringing
totally new products to life. Consumers
themselves are invited to return their product
when it reaches the end of its natural life, in a
recycled tarpaulin envelope that is given out
when the product is purchased.
Tarpaulins are not the only materials that have
inspired these “responsible designers”. The
association, Art Gens, has become an expert in
the field of artistic recycling, and has designed
100% eco-designed objects since 2002 from
the off cuts of industrial materials or products
used during trade shows. The latter include
carpeting, which has the reputation for being
difficult to recycle and store after use, and
which has been given a new lease of life, being
turned into wallets or decorative objects.
For Laure Vial Lenfant, Ecodesign Manager at
Art Gens, “today, this is more than just a passing
trend. People like the products, both for their
aesthetic appeal and their ethics”. And there is
every sign to say that this is here to stay!
Event
The trade show
for Renewable
Energy Sources
has become a
reference
The Renewable Energy Sources trade
show was pioneering in the early
2000s, but has now become a major
date on the calendar.
> Since 2001, the Renewable Energy
Sources trade show, held in Eurexpo
Lyon, has become the reference event
for all renewable energy source sectors: thermal
solar energy, photovoltaic thermal energy,
geothermics, wood, biomass energy, biogas,
agrofuels, small hydraulics, wind power…. This
trade show, which attracts an ever-wider public,
effectively plays a foreground role in this booming
market. Arnaud Wigniolle, the director of the
Construction department at Sepelcom, confirms,
“In 2001, when renewable energy sources were
still relatively insignificant, this trade show was a
real pioneer. Today, it has become the gateway to
the French market for foreign industrialists.” For
its 7th edition in February 2009, the RES trade
show put the focus on innovation, as usual. In the
“new products” section, equipment for the mass
production of energy, the questions of how to
integrate RES into the residential and tertiary
sectors, as well as energy- or heat-producing
materials built into buildings were all put in the
spotlight. In the future, GL events hopes that this
trade show will become genuinely eco-designed.
This is why it has already adopted a certain
number of actions so that the visitors will prefer
public transport to cars. Similarly, and in
collaboration with the ADEME, a carbon footprint
of the event was made. “It is important that we
be in harmony with the principles vehicled by this
trade show. Our carbon footprint is only the first
step. In the future, we will have to take this
reasoning even further, encouraging our visitors
and exhibitors to use public transport when they
come to Eurexpo, encouraging our exhibitors to
adopt a real eco-design approach for their
stands, and so on,” states Arnaud Wigniolle.
in perfect correlation with the idea behind the
Lab: we are committed to real research into new
solutions…” In retrospect, the Lab’GL events
has been well-received. People from outside the
group have appreciated the fact that an event
organisation professional communicates on this,
a subject that is now a priority for everyone
– citizens, consumers, public collectivities
and businesses. Internally, this initiative has,
amongst other things, played a part in creating
a sustainable development mission (see the
following text). Since the Pollutec trade show,
the Lab’GL events has continued to progress.
Last March, for example, it was present at the
INDUSTRIE trade show at Eurexpo.
Interview with
Henri
de Rohan-Chabot
and Emmanuelle
Coratti
2006: 4th national meeting on sustainable
development. The first approach for the eco-design
for a stand for GL events.
now, particularly in terms of the environment:
eco-design approach for our services, ecoorganisation
of events, optimisation test
operations for transport, waste recycling on
our sites, and so on. We have identified a wealth
of experiences that seem to us interesting and
that today need to be duplicated, increased and
structured. This is the aim of our mission. And
the timing is perfect: it is something our clients
are asking for, and the legislation will impose
these types of approach more and more. In
addition, GL events occupies a special place in
the event organisation sector. As an integrated
player on the market, we are responsible for
acting on the entire life cycle of an event. This
is a heavy responsibility, but also a wonderful
opportunity.
Pedagogy
A laboratory
designed to find
new solutions
Since 2008, GL events has launched
its “Lab”. This pedagogical and fun
area is a place in which it is possible
to become familiar with the company’s
creations in the field of eco-design.
> December 2008: Reed Expositions
France, organiser of the Pollutec
trade show, made available to
GL events an area in which to inventory the
company’s relationship with eco-design. The
result of this invitation was the creation of
Lab’GL events: an innovative, 100% sustainable
development stand. “The Lab was an obvious
choice of name for us because it expresses the
idea that, in this field, we really are constantly
conducting research. It reflects our global
approach. In addition to the concept of research,
this name also expresses the idea of a
multifunction team,” explains Catherine
Machado, a temporary venues designer at
GL events. Using key words such as
dematerialisation, selection, modularity or
optimisation, GL events thus set up, in the
context of the Buy & Care trade show, this
pedagogical and fun area measuring 60 m² to
explain the principles of eco-design in the event
organisation field. In other words, how to work
on the life span of a product before, during and
after an event. Imagined as a laboratory of
ideas and trends, this area reviewed all the
questions that need to be asked and the choices
that need to be made in terms of venue,
materials, service providers, lighting, transport,
recycling, waste and so on. All whilst continuing
to fight against multiple preconceived ideas,
stresses Catherine Machado: “Something that
has been eco-designed is not necessarily or
solely green in colour. There is a wide range of
materials which, at first sight, are not ecodesign-compatible
but which are so fully in
terms of their manufacturing criteria.”
This is only the beginning
Although with this Lab GL events put into context
its various creations in terms of eco-design, the
aim was nevertheless to do so with realism. “We
are not high performance in every domain, but
we really are trying to improve. Recognising our
limitations and the challenges we must face is
The GL events sustainable
development mission
“We have the opportunity to act at every
stage in the life cycle of an event”
For GL events, sustainable development
is a concept of primary importance. For
many years, reconciling the temporary
nature of events with the requirements
of environmental, social and societal
responsibility has been at the very
heart of the group’s concerns. In 2009,
GL events went further still along
this avenue, creating a Sustainable
development mission, coordinated
by Henri de Rohan-Chabot and
Emmanuelle Coratti.
>
How does the GL events group
approach the question of
sustainable development?
Emmanuelle Coratti & Henri de Rohan-Chabot
– There have been a wide range of initiatives
in practice within the group for several years
What are the priorities around which
GL events intends to develop its SER
actions?
EC & HRC – Our SER approach covers three
fields of action. At the environmental level,
our aim is to integrate environmental concerns
into all our professions so as to anticipate
changes in regulations, satisfy the expectations
of the market and strengthen our position as
a reference player. At the social level, our aim
is to guarantee the integrity of the people who
work in and for the company, encourage the
professional development of our employees and
develop within the group a responsible and
united community spirit. Finally, at the societal
level, for us, it is important that we play a part in
dynamising, promoting and enhancing the life of
the places in which we work, in close links with
the local collectivities and proximity key players,
both in France and abroad. These three fields
of action are in the process of being transposed
into a plan of action, for all our professions.
As an example, we are going to be starting
up several long-term projects: training in ecoevents,
recycling the most “sensitive” products,
optimising our transport options and eco-driving,
waste management, energy optimisation of our
event venues, reflections on how to integrate
handicapped people, and much more.
How is this mission organised within
the group and with the other parties
involved?
EC & HRC – The logic behind sustainable
development is by its very nature the logic
of networks and collaboration. It requires
adherence to the values of the project, sharing
and exchanging experiences, a strong desire,
and the involvement of the various teams. We
are setting up a network of highly motivated
correspondents in the various professions and
entities within the group.
We also hope to associate our clients and
suppliers in our approach. And, of course, it is
important that we work with our competitors
on this subject which goes way beyond the
logic of competition. In this way, we will
be actively participating in the work of our
professional sector.
Patronage
Charles Hedrich:
An adventurer
supported by
GL events
As part of the company’s patronage
operations, GL events is providing
support for the sportsman and
adventurer, Charles Hedrich, in his
latest challenge. Charles Hedrich hails
from Lyon and has set himself the
challenge of going around the world,
via the North and South Poles, using
only renewable energy sources..
> Hedrich is a fan of unusual sports
events and has just done a world’s
first: since 6 June, he and his
colleague, Arnaud Tortel, have become the first
men to ever travel from the North Pole to
Greenland using only pulkas and kayaks. The
original plan for this 51-year-old Lyonnais,
father of three boys and a former officer in the
Merchant Navy, was to travel from the North
Pole to the South Pole using only renewable
energy sources such as wind, water and solar
energy. He set out from the North Pole in early
April and planned to reach the South Pole in
early January 2010. “This has never been done
before, it will be a world’s first,” he says. But
the weather conditions made it impossible for
him to cross Greenland. “Global warming is
such that we came across an open ice floe, as
far as the eye could see. This was totally
unexpected, including for the ice specialists
who were monitoring our progress…”, says
Charles Hedrich. With his iron will, this highly
unusual sportsman decided that he would not
let this stop him. He will take up his expedition
again in April 2010, starting from where he
stopped last time and still without using the
slightest amount of fossil fuel. “Doing this trip
in two stages is, of course, less exhilarating for
me, but I’m trying to look at it as just a stopover…”.
This is a man who is used to seeing
challenges through to their conclusion. Since
devoting himself to extreme sports in 2002
following the sale of the company that he
succeeded in floating on the stock market in
1997, he has been incredibly active. After the
Paris-Dakar motorcycle race in 2003 (6 th place
in the 400 m 3 category), he sailed solo around
the world, with no stop-overs and no assistance,
in 2005. Then, on 17 May 2006, he climbed
Mount Everest and its 8,848 metres using the
Tibetan route. More recently, in January 2007,
Charles Hedrich beat the world record for
rowing across the Atlantic, in 36 days and 6
hours, before doing a 550 km solo autonomous
hike, at the end of 2008, in Antarctica. With the
support of his various partners, including
GL events, who were one of the first and who
have invited him to share his experiences at the
renewable energy sources trade show, Charles
Hedrich shows no sign of stopping now.
Interview with
Nicole Notat
CEO of Vigeo
“Sustainable development is not
synonymous with restrictions, but
rather with opportunities”
Nicole Notat is the former secretary
general of one of France’s most
important trade unions, the CFDT.
Today, she is the CEO of Vigeo, a
corporate responsibility rating agency,
which audits the largest French
and European companies in terms
of their Social and Environmental
Responsibility (SER). This privileged
observation point provides her with
a unique overview of the sustainable
development situation in France.
Interview.
>
When and how did the world
of business really encounter
the question of sustainable
development?
Nicole Notat – For me, the trigger was in 2002,
in Johannesburg, during the World Summit on
Sustainable Development. At this summit, the
environment, social inequality and economic
development were all at the forefront of public
opinion. And it was at the same event that
Kofi Annan, the then Secretary General of
the United Nations, started to put pressure
on businesses and that businesses started to
feel concerned about such matters. Especially
those that are most exposed, who understood
that if the question of sustainable development
was ignored, they were the ones who would be
shot down by public opinion or the media.
Out of conviction, or out of necessity, the
world of business thus started to move. It was
all the more inclined to do so as regulatory
pressure gained momentum at the start of
the 2000s, for example with the “loi NRE” (new
economic regulations law), which has obliged
all companies listed on the Stock Exchange
to publish information concerning their SER
policy.
You just mentioned “SER”. What exactly
do these three letters stand for?
NN – In the face of the challenge that
sustainable development represents for the
planet and our future generations, it is now
necessary to invent and build a new economy
and a new type of growth. Collectivities,
companies, citizens, consumers, everyone is
involved and every individual should commit to
the concept. For companies, this commitment
takes the concrete form of what is known
as Social and Environmental Responsibility
(SER). At Vigeo, we still insist on the fact that
companies must not consider this process
as a restriction, but rather as an opportunity.
Similarly, we also insist on the fact that SER
should not be seen as a “good deed”, but
instead as a boost for global performance.
Do you feel that progress is being
made in this respect?
NN – Absolutely! In the early 2000s, a
company’s approach to SER was often limited
to nothing more than a “Values charter”.
With the company’s values thus displayed
in black and white, everyone assumed that
the corresponding actions would follow. Of
course, we all know that things do not happen
as easily as that. Since then, a new level has
been attained by many companies, who have
integrated sustainable development into the
very heart of their strategy, their production
processes and their organisation. The fact that
the employees themselves have also adhered
to the importance of sustainable development
has also played a part in this evolution.
To conclude, what message would you
like to send to company directors
who have a vague desire to commit
themselves to an SER approach?
NN – To start with, and at the risk of repeating
myself, all company directors should bear in
mind that committing to this approach will
provide opportunities in terms of development,
performance, reputation or attractiveness with
regard to the various publics concerned.
That said, they should also be aware that
sustainable development is not a magic potion.
In other words, things will not all come together
harmoniously overnight. There will necessarily
be trade-offs to make, certain types of rigidity
to overcome, projects that will need to be
staggered over time, and so on. Finally, although
the directors’ commitment is decisive for the
success of the approach, implementing real
“SER management”, which can, in particular,
involve the creation of specially designated
missions, and appropriating teams (at all levels
of the hierarchy) are also essential conditions
for success.
Respect
the Earth
Charles Hedrich aims to be honest in his
approach. He is, above all, an extreme
sportsman. For him, environmental
concerns come in second place. But rowing
across the Atlantic in 2008 was a sort of
trigger: “When you see all the plastic bags
in the sea, when you realise that there are
less and less fish, you have to have some
kind of reaction. I want to keep on doing my
own thing and not become over-zealous,
but, through my sporting activities, I have
the opportunity
to raise people’s
awareness of
what is really
happening to our
planet today.”
With his association, “Respectons la Terre”,
Charles Hedrich has thus decided to use
adventure sports as a means of approaching
issues of a more general nature, such as the
use of natural or renewable energy sources,
preserving plant and animal biodiversity,
and so on.
Les rebelles agacent ou
> séduisent, mais ils ne
laissent pas indifférent.
La foi chevillée au corps,
l’audace et la liberté
en bandoulière, ils forcent toujours
peu ou proue le respect, l’admiration.
L’architecte Odile Decq semble être
de cette race-là. Celle des gens qui
foncent.
architecture. Vous pourrez ainsi dessiner
des cuisines et des placards… ».
on passait notre temps à aller à Londres
etc. On fouillait partout dans le moindre
chantier ».
« Je me méfie des idéologies ! »
faut oser l’affrontement » affirme Odile
Decq. Il faut dire qu’en la matière,
elle a été à bonne école. A l’U.P.6, son
école d’architecture, depuis Mai 68, la
tradition consistait à remettre en cause
les Beaux Arts. Les enseignants qui
répondaient aux noms de Castro ou de
Le Dantec étaient tous de chevronnés
soixante-huitards.
Je me
reste libre. » Rétrospectivement, à ses
yeux, c’est précisément cette liberté,
cette indépendance à l’heure des
apprentissages qui l’ont construite :
« Cela m’a forgé le caractère. C’était très
bien comme ça. En architecture, il faut du
talent et de la personnalité. Aujourd’hui,
depuis un an. De quel établissement
s’agit-il ? De la plus ancienne de
France, l’Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture
(ESA) de Paris créée par le célèbre
architecte français Eugène Viollet-le-
Duc (1814-1879) à l’époque en lutte
contre l’académisme des Beaux Arts…
Forcément !
travailla jusqu’à son décès en 1998.
Stand up and fight!
Odile Decq is a world-renowned
architect who claims to have had
no master and to not belong to any
particular movement. In her opinion,
in architecture, the key is freedom and
independence.
Rebels either annoy or seduce, but
>
rarely leave people indifferent. With
their faith pinned to their sleeve,
audaciousness and freedom slung over their
shoulder, they always command more or less
respect and admiration. The architect Odile Decq
seems to be one of their tribe. The tribe that
rushes headlong into a task. As far as she is
concerned, her rebellious streak may come from
the art teacher she had and who, throughout her
high school years in Mayenne, swiftly taught her
how to become aware of her artistic sentiment. Or
perhaps it comes from the fact that when she was
a student, she always succeeded in putting her
convictions before convention. “At the time, I told
myself that architecture just wasn’t possible for a
girl but, in the end, I entered the competitive exam
for an architecture school.” Unless Odile Decq’s
rebellious streak comes from an unfortunate
phrase pronounced by an architect friend of her
parents’ when she knew she had been accepted:
“Wonderful news! We need girls in architecture –
you can design kitchens and cupboards for us…”.
Rome, Tangiers, Beijing…
Regardless of the source, thirty years later,
Odile Decq is anything but confined. Since she
graduated from her architecture school in 1978,
she set up an architecture agency that soon got
her talked about. From the end of the 1980s,
after winning the competition organised by
the Banque Populaire de l’Ouest for its social
and administrative centre in Rennes, the Odile
Decq-Benoît Cornette* agency has acquired
international renown. It was the concept and the
design, choice and way of combining the materials
in this project that made all the difference. “We
were the outsiders. If we won this contract, it is
because we were the token young architects in
the competition,” specifies Odile Decq. A few years
later, in 1996, the ODBC agency won another
prestigious contract for the control centre for the
A14 motorway and its viaduct in Nanterre. Odile
Decq thus put together a totally innovative project,
putting the control centre not on the ground but
on high, on the deck of the motorway footbridge.
“Thanks to this project, we have participated in
many conferences abroad, whereas in France,
we come over as being loose canons,” explains
Odile Decq who now has projects in progress all
over the world: the Museum of Contemporary Art
in Rome with Burkhard Morass, the Maas Tower
in Rotterdam, Pavillon 8 for GL events at the Lyon
Confluent (see inset p. 26), the harbour station in
the port of Tangiers, or the Art Hotel in Beijing…
Odile Decq owes her international success to her
natural sense of curiosity, amongst other things:
“In the 1980s, with my partner, we spent our time
going to London for music, but we also took the
time to go and look at the transformation of the
Docklands in the city: the metal structures, etc.
We sniffed around any worksite we could find.”
“I am deeply suspicious of ideologies!”
“Architecture is a profession where you have to
be tenacious and strong. Women tend to opt
for negotiation, whereas in this profession you
have to dare to confront people,” claims Odile
Decq. It has to be said that in this respect,
she had excellent role models. Since May 1968,
at UP6, her architecture school, the tradition
consisted in questioning the role of Art Schools.
The teachers, all with names like Castro or Le
Dantec, were all experienced rebels from the
May 68 demonstrations. “It is almost certainly
for this reason that I never really had any specific
influences or masters. Anything but! I am deeply
suspicious of ideologies, movements, trends. Of
course, I look at what is being done elsewhere
in the world, but I remain free.” In retrospect, in
her opinion, it was precisely this freedom, this
independence in her formative years that have
made her what she is today. “It strengthened
my character. And that was a good thing. In
architecture, you need both talent and personality.
Today, there is a tendency to confine architecture
students whereas, on the contrary, they need to
be given help in developing their personality”.
This is a principle that she is trying to put into
practice at the school of which she has been the
director for a year. And what school is this? It
is the oldest architecture school in France, the
Ecole Supérieure d’Architecture (ESA) in Paris,
founded by the famous French architect Eugène
Viollet-le-Duc (1814-1879) at a time when there
was a real struggle against the academicism of …
Art Schools, what else?!
Since the end of the 1980s, when the Odile Decq-Benoît Cornette agency won the competition
organised by the Banque Populaire de l’Ouest for its social and administrative centre in Rennes,
the agency has constantly gained in international renown.
Situé au Sud de la Presqu’île
lyonnaise, Lyon Confluences
est aujourd’hui un projet urbain
majeur en Europe. À terme, il va
permettre à Lyon de doubler la
superficie de son hyper-centre
grâce au nouvel aménagement
d’un territoire longtemps consacré
à l’industrie et aux transports.
Au total, trois nouveaux pavillons
vont être construits. Architectes
et paysagistes se sont emballés
pour ce projet sans nul autre
pareil.
Felice Varini. « Nous avons poussé
le plus loin possible le principe
du bâtiment transparent, tout en
verre. Cela donne des façades
un peu magiques. Sans compter
les opportunités que cela offre
en termes de développement
durable, d’économie d’énergie.
Ce qui est à l’œuvre aujourd’hui, à
Lyon, en termes d’architecture est
formidable », affirme Odile Decq.
Lyon: A project made
of glass for 2010
Situated to the south of the Lyon
Presqu’île, Lyon Confluences is now
one of Europe’s major urban projects.
It will ultimately allow Lyon to double the
surface area of its hyper-centre, thanks
to new organisation of land long left to
industry and transport. In total, three
new pavilions will be built. Architects and
landscape gardeners have really gone to
town on this project unlike any other. Odile
Decq is one of them. For Pavilion 8, at the
south of Port Rambaud and which will
ultimately house the future headquarters
of GL events, she has proposed a building
that reinterprets industrial architecture
and fits into the urban landscape thanks
to the work on the façade by the Swiss
artist, Felice Varini. “We have pushed the
concept of the totally transparent, glass
building as far as we can. The result is
rather magical facades. Without counting
the opportunities they provide in terms
of sustainable development and energy
saving. What is happening today in Lyon,
in architectural terms, is truly wonderful,”
affirms Odile Decq.
Commission européenne,
> Parlement Européen, Conseil de
l’Europe, OTAN, ONG du monde
entier, grandes entreprises
internationales…
In the Mont des Arts district, there is a multitude of museums.
Chocolate is an ambassador for Belgium as a whole, and is given the importance it deserves in the shop
The European Commission, the European
>
Parliament, the Council of Europe, NATO,
NGO from all over the world, large
multinationals… Today, Brussels is one of the most
influential cities on the Old Continent, one of the main
centres of decision-making, where history is frequently
made. This explains why Brussels has 13,000 hotel
rooms and 2,000 restaurants. This gives the city the
look of a large European village – festive, animated and
cosmopolitan – to such an extent that, of all the major
European cities, it is Brussels that can stake the claim
to a real art of living. Brussels is the European city with
the most green spaces (27.7 m 2 per inhabitant) and the
air feels good. It is a relatively small city, more human
in size than many others, with both cultural and
economic dynamism that also play a key part in its
exceptional surroundings.
Bruegel, Rubens…
The city’s most beautiful old monuments are situated
within a small radius and can easily be discovered by
bicycle or on foot. From the Grand-Place to the Galeries
Saint-Hubert, or the famous Manneken-Pis, there is
little more than a stone’s throw. There is not much more
between the Place des Martyrs and the Saints-Michelet-Gudule
cathedral. As you discover the streets, and
the various districts, you must not forget to raise your
eyes to appreciate the Art Déco values and the pure,
simple, often geometric lines. Certain masterpieces are
an absolute must, such as the Palais des Beaux-Arts,
Getting to BRUSSELS
the Clockarium museum, the Koekelberg basilica
In the Mont des Arts district, which is the dividing
line between “upper” and “lower” Brussels and
which, from September, will be home to a new site
with the Brussels conference centre, the SQUARE
Brussels Meeting Centre (see inset), there are a
multitude. At the Musées royaux des Beaux-Arts,
the greatest masters of classic painting, such
as Bosch and Bruegel, Memling and Cranach,
Jordaens and Rubens, are on show. The same is
true for surrealists such as Delvaux and Magritte.
For popular culture, how, when in Brussels –which
is the home of Tintin, Spirou, Lucky Luke and the
Smurfs– can you miss out cartoons, especially in
2009, the year of the cartoon? Throughout the city,
numerous book shops will be devoted exclusively
to this “9 th art”, cartoons in all their forms –new,
second-hand or collector items. And do not forget
the “Cartoon trail”, a colourful and fun side of the
Brussels way of life that includes almost forty
walls covered in giant characters, flamboyant and
often in rather comic situations.
And the beer flows freely…
After so much culture, it is time to take a break
and try out the delicious specialties of the city.
Chocolate is an ambassador for Belgium as a
whole, and is given the importance it deserves
in the shop windows of the various chocolatemakers,
in the form of manons, ganaches,
pralines, marzipan or nougatine… But chocolate
is not everything. Brussels is also famous for the
cakes, truffles and mendiants made by its master
pâtissiers. And what can we say about the beer?
This jewel in the crown of Belgian gastronomy
flows freely… With bitters, lagers or white beers,
hundreds of varieties of hops are represented in
the traditional brasseries. Fans of typical produce
will also remember, of course, to take a look
into the smoky world of popular cafés, known as
“stamcafés” or to pop into a Brussels chip shop.
Caméra numérique RED :
entre animation et réalité
3D Studio : visite virtuelle
d’un stand bien réel
>
automobile. Market Image avait été
sélectionné lors d’un appel d’offres
lancé par Renault Trucks auprès de
The RED digital
camera: between
animation and
reality
The specificity of technological
>
progress is that it creates surprises,
with ever-more innovative products.
Market Image has proved this once again, with
the RED digital camera. This structure within
Market Place is devoted to designing and
producing reports, fiction or even video-clips
for events or any other form of communication.
Its latest success is a stunning visual
performance: a film that lasts 1 minute 30 and
that was made for the Renault stand at the
World Motor Show in Paris at the end of 2008.
The film is a real technological gem, and was
trois agences. L’objectif ?
played non-stop on the automobile maker’s
giant LED screens. Market Image was chosen
following a call for tender launched by Renault
Trucks with three agencies. The aim was to
present Renault’s Concept Car ZE, putting
special emphasis on the vehicle’s position on
the market: electric, modern, fun and respecting
the environment. The creative concept was a
dynamic and futuristic vision of the worlds of
nature and technology, for which various types
of technology were used: animation, virtual
décors and scenes with “light painting”, a
technique that creates the effect of animated
fluorescent waves rippling around the car.
The particularity of the RED camera should
be noted: it makes it possible to store the
various elements on a digital card but with
the quality of traditional film. In addition to
devising the concept, producing and making the
film, Market Image was also asked to prepare
the press package, that is, a stock of rushes
collected during the on-set filming for the
journalists from the specialised press. Market
Image, who have already won many prizes
for their audiovisual productions, attended the
International Festival for Corporate Audiovisual
Media in Le Creusot to present the film.
Peut-on imaginer la
> présentation d’un futur
stand sans maquette ni
croquis ?
3D STUDIO: a virtual
visit of a very real
stand
>
Is it possible to imagine presenting
the stands of the future with the
help of neither models nor
sketches? This is the challenge that the
research office GL events Services in
Grenoble has set itself. Using 3D Studio
software, they have found the solution: it is
now possible to offer clients the opportunity
to visit stands virtually. This programme,
which models a walk around a stand at
adult height, gives an excellent impression
of distances, volumes and proportions. The
stand is first of all shown in its entirety,
then the camera moves in closer… The
spectator really has the feeling of being
right in the middle of the stand. Alternating
the viewpoints, rotations and precision
zoom makes it possible to visualise the
different aspects of the layout in
considerable detail. Particular attention is
effectively paid to the details: the materials
used are chosen with care, the camera
path is studied in detail, and so on. In order
to be able to propose such a wealth of
details, there is a computer specially
dedicated to producing films of very high
visual quality: no less than 2,250 images
are needed for just one and a half minutes
of video. The 3D animation thus helps
clients choose their furniture, colours and
materials, as well as everything that will
make the stand as attractive as possible.
Thanks to 3D Studio, the questions of space
and layout that sometimes a model cannot
fully answer are no longer a problem. The
challenge has been won: forget your
sketches, and welcome to the virtual world!
Structure événementielle e ve n t s t r u c t u r e
L’alliance
de l’expérience et de l’innovation –
Spaciotempo intègre une équipe
R&D – a ainsi donné naissance à
une solution nouvelle génération,
alliant qualité et flexibilité. Parmi
les nouveautés de la structure figure
le FIDS (Fully Integrated Decoration
System) qui inclut, directement
dans l’ossature, les éléments
permettant l’installation rapide
de l’éclairage et de la décoration.
Côté isolation, un nouveau bardage
« coque » absorbe les nuisances
sonores et atténue la résonnance
liée aux éléments climatiques. Les
innovations techniques optimisent
aussi l’étanchéité et l’efficience
énergétique de la structure. Côté
esthétique, outre le bardage coque
conçu exclusivement pour GL events,
deux designs de toiture ont été créés
(toit courbe et toit plat). Enfin, la
sécurité des personnes travaillant sur
le chantier a été renforcée, grâce à
des dispositifs limitant les risques de
chute. La structure, qui répond aux
normes françaises et internationales,
est déjà disponible en versions 10 m,
12 m et 15 m de long, pour une
hauteur de 4 m. Le bureau d’études
travaille actuellement sur les versions
25 m, 30 m, 40 m et 50 m, ainsi que
sur une version double étage. Dans
le contexte économique actuel,
GL events a choisi de parier sur
l’avenir, en investissant 4,5 millions
d’euros dans cette structure au fort
potentiel.
Absolute: the ideal
covered area
>
The brand new, top-of-therange
structure, Absolute, is
proud to be able to offer a whole
range of innovative techniques in perfect
harmony with all the most demanding
requirements of today.
“Absolute” is product with a name that speaks
volumes: it is the result of creative synergy within the
Structure and Tribunes pole at GL events. Mastery of
aluminium frames and the production capacities of
Spaciotempo have joined forces with the experience
of Hall Expo and Owen Brown, who have respectively
20 and 90 years’ practice in event organisation.
Together, these companies have worked on five main
aims: making interiors easier to fit-out, improving
acoustics, optimising thermal comfort, modernising
the aesthetics and guaranteeing security. The
alliance of experience and innovation – Spaciotempo
has integrated an R&D team – has thus produced a
new generation solution that combines quality with
flexibility. One of the things new to the structure is
the FIDS (Fully Integrated Decoration System) which
includes, directly in the frame, elements that make
it easy to install both lighting and decoration. For the
insulation, a new “shell” cladding absorbs sound and
attenuates the resonance associated with climatic
elements. The technical innovations also optimise
the structure’s waterproofing and energy efficiency.
From an aesthetic point of view, in addition to the shell
cladding that was specially designed for GL events,
two roof designs have been created (curved or flat).
Finally, the safety of the people working on the site
has been enhanced thanks to devices that limit
the risk of falling. The structure, which satisfies
both French and international standards, is already
available in versions 10 m, 12 m and 15 m long,
with a height of 4 m. The research office is currently
working on the 25 m, 30 m, 40 m and 50 m versions,
as well as a two-storey version. In the current
economic climate, GL events has chosen to focus
on the future, by investing 4.5 million euros in this
structure with great potential.
International i n t e r n at i on al
Bruxelles, Istanbul, Turin, Troyes…
>
À Istanbul, sur le
Bosphore, entre Europe
et Asie, le dernier espace
acquis par GL events se
nomme « The Seed »,
autrement dit « La Graine », parce
que ce site d’événements évoque la
naissance, la vie, la croissance, le
futur et l’espoir… Une métaphore qui
convient parfaitement à un organisateur
d’événements. Offrant une structure et
une architecture modernes, The Seed
Lingotto Fiere. GL events a obtenu
une concession de 25 ans pour l’Oval,
ce lieu d’événement érigé pour
les Jeux Olympiques d’hiver 2006
où se déroulèrent les épreuves de
patinage de vitesse. Intelligemment,
les concepteurs de l’Oval avaient
anticipé l’après-JO, en créant un
site modulable, capable de recevoir
d’autres compétitions sportives mais
pas seulement. Ses 20 000 m 2 , divisibles
en trois espaces indépendants,
permettent d’organiser des expositions,
des conventions, des soirées de gala,
des concerts et des spectacles, avec
une capacité maximum de 13 500
personnes. En France enfin, GL events
est entré dans l’histoire très ancienne
des foires de Champagne avec
l’acquisition du Parc d’Exposition de
Troyes.
d’espaces.
Brussels, istanbul,
turin, troyes…
GL events continues to broaden its
range of event venues both in France
and abroad. And, by the same token,
consolidates its management of
venues as a catalyst for the strategic
growth of the group.
In Istanbul, on the Bosphorus,
>
between Europe and Asia, the latest
venue acquired by GL events is
called “The Seed” because this venue evokes
birth, life, growth, the future and hope… This
metaphor is perfectly adapted to an event
organiser. The Seed is a modern structure
with modern architecture, and is Istanbul’s
newest conference centre. It can host artistic
and cultural events at both the national and
international level, as well as seminars,
meetings and conferences. The Seed has a
multitude of possible configurations with
indoor and outdoor areas –the magnificent
garden patio has a breathtaking view of the
sea– making it possible to welcome 300 to
1,000 people. Off to the political heart of
Europe, this time: in Brussels at 20 h 09 on 20
September (20/09/2009) “Square”, the new
conference centre, will open its doors after
three years of renovation work. GL events has
been entrusted with the management for the
next 27 years. Square proposes areas adapted
to all types of event, with the main attraction
to be found on the top floor: the reception
room, called the “Panoramic Hall”, which has
a 360° view of Brussels. It was designed by
Arne Quinze, as was the restaurant on the
ground floor, which is open to the public and
has a view of the Mont des Arts park.
Over to Italy this time, where GL events
has consolidated its implantation in Turin
(the company already manages the Turin
Exhibition Centre, Lingotto Fiere). GL events
has obtained a 25-year lease for the Oval,
a venue built for the Winter Olympics in
2006 to host the speed skating events. With
great intelligence, the designers of the Oval
anticipated the “after-Olympics” period and
created a modular site, capable of hosting
other events, sport of course, but also other
types of event. The venue’s 20,000 m 2 can
be divided into three distinct areas, making
it possible to organise exhibitions, conventions,
gala evenings, concerts and shows,
with a maximum capacity of 13,500. And
finally, in France, GL events has become
part of the age-old tradition of trade fairs
in the Champagne region, with the group’s
acquisition of the Troyes exhibition centre.
Situated in the city centre and surrounded by
an esplanade, the centre has almost 20,000
m 2 of exhibition space, of which 7,700 m 2 are
covered. A “win-win” partnership has been
signed between the Troyes metropolitan area
(Communauté d’Agglomération de Troyes,
CAT), GL events and the three consular
chambers in the Aube département. From
France to Turkey, via Italy and Belgium, these
new acquisitions strengthen GL events’ strategy
in terms of venue management.
Ubisoft a dévoilé ses
dernières productions
> Le plus grand salon de jeux
vidéo au monde, l’E3, a été
l’occasion pour tous les
éditeurs de logiciels de dévoiler leurs
dernières productions auprès de 41000
visiteurs. Venus de 78 pays différents, ils
se sont aventurés, du 2 au 4 juin, au
cœur du Centre des Conventions de Los
Angeles. Ubisoft, numéro 3 du jeu vidéo,
fut bien évidemment au rendez-vous sur
un stand exceptionnel de 1500 m 2
réalisé par GL events. Des moyens
techniques dignes des technologies les
plus avancées (Plasma 3D, Surfaces
Multitouch, système son 6.1, mur plein
jour). Le stand a diffusé, sur plus de 100
écrans, des avant-premières de jeux
tant attendues, en présence de James
Cameron, Pelée et Steven Spielberg.
Ubisoft reveals its latest
productions
> E3 is the world’s largest video game trade
show and was the opportunity for all
software publishers to reveal their latest gems
to the 41,000 visitors. These visitors came from
78 different countries and they travelled to the
heart of the Los Angeles Convention Centre from
2 to 4 June. Ubisoft, the world n°3 in the video
game sector, was obviously present, with an
exceptional, 1,500 m² stand produced by
GL events. Technical means worthy of even the
most advanced technology (3D plasma,
Multitouch surfaces, 6.1 sound system, daylight
screen…) were used. On more than 100 screens,
the stand showed trailers for some of the
company’s long-awaited games, in the presence
of James Cameron, Pele and Steven Spielberg.
GL events aux
mondiaux de natation
2009
> Les meilleurs nageurs et
plongeurs du monde avaient
rendez-vous aux
Championnats du Monde de Natation, à
Rome, du 17 juillet au 2 août. Pendant
ces 17 jours de compétition, plus de
400000 personnes se sont rendues sur
place. Pour l’occasion, GL events a
installé plus de 10000 places de
tribunes autour de la piscine centrale.
Ce chantier a représenté une véritable
prouesse technique. « Il Foro Italico »,
construit dans les années 1920, est en
effet un lieu de patrimoine reconnu
pour ses marbres et nombreuses
sculptures. C’est donc avec beaucoup
de minutie que les équipes techniques
devaient opérer. Avec plus de 30
personnes sur le terrain, et un temps
d’installation de 40 jours, GL events a
démontré, à nouveau, sa capacité à
être présent sur les grandes
manifestations sportives
internationales.
GL events at the 2009 world
swimming championships
> All the best swimmers and divers in the
world met up at the World Swimming
Championships, held in Rome from 17 July to 2
August. In the course of the 17 days of
competition, more than 400,000 people attended
the event. For the occasion, GL events installed
more than 10,000 seats in the stands around the
main swimming pool. This site required real
technical prowess. “Il Foro Italico”, which was
built in the 1920s, is effectively part of the city’s
heritage, complete with its marble and numerous
sculptures. The technical teams were thus
obliged to work with a great deal of precision.
With more than 30 people on site, and a 40-day
installation period, GL events once again proved
itself capable of being present at all the world’s
most important sports events.
A “Biennale” unlike any other
organised and produced by the agency Fagga
event in the region and this year, it broke all the
records: in ten days, 272,000 people visited the
16,000 m² of the Trade Fair Pavilion at the Bahia
Convention Centre in Brazil, up more than 20%
in relation to the previous edition. There were
385 exhibitors and more than 50,000 books – a
real haven of culture, reminding all and sundry
that literature is anything but a dying art form.
business model hospitality.
A marriage of
flavours, with
Traiteur Loriers
The end of 2008 was marked by
GL events’ entry into the capital of
Traiteur Loriers. The group thus
consolidates its presence in Belgium
and enhances its range of services in
an essential event organisation sector,
“Food & Beverage”..
By entering the capital of Traiteur Loriers
>
with a majority participation of 51% in
December 2008, GL events has succeeded
in associating its image with that of an emblematic
company. Traiteur Loriers is effectively the only
caterer that is by appointment to the Royal Court of
Belgium. This acquisition will allow GL events,
amongst other things, to provide food and drinks at
Square, the newly renovated conference centre in
Brussels. It will also play a part in consolidating the
group’s range of event organisation service activities.
Like reception and audiovisual, Food & Beverage
services are now an essential part of a congress or
convention. According to Christophe Guérin, the
director of the Food & Beverage department at GL
events, “Our profession consists in welcoming
people. Regardless of continent or customs, the
tradition of offering one’s guests something to eat
and drink is universal. We must therefore include
this type of service in our hospitality business
model.” And this is a service with high added value
as it represents 20% of an exhibition centre’s
turnover, 30% for a conference centre and 40 to 60%
for a reception venue. In addition, it generates a very
positive image, and is highly attractive to clients,
who can take advantage of an integrated range of
event organisation services. All these reasons
explain why Food & Beverage has already been
developed at all the event venues managed by GL
events, in all the countries in which the group is
present. “It is an activity that progresses quickly.
Before, it was not organised and was managed on a
case-by-case basis within each venue. GL events’
acquisition of the capital of Traiteur Loriers is part of
our aim to structure what is on offer in the venues
we manage. Food & Beverage is now one of the key
professions within the services provided by the
group,” explains Christophe Guérin.
Square Brussels vise l’excellence !
celui-ci a développé une cuisine
Directeur commercial :
savoir faire preuve
d’initiative
Marco Angrisani,
directeur commercial
chez Promotor International
à Bologne
Quel est le travail d’un
directeur commercial ?
Chez Promotor International, société
italienne spécialisée dans l’organisation
d’expositions automobiles comme le
Motor Show de Bologne, le rôle du
directeur commercial s’entremêle
avec celui du directeur marketing. La
communication joue un rôle de premier
plan dans la construction des stratégies
de vente qui sont étudiées avec la
direction dans le but d’anticiper les
évolutions du marché et les exigences
des clients. Dans le travail d’étude et
d’élaboration, le directeur n’est jamais
seul. Il peut compter sur la collaboration
d’une équipe de professionnels.
d’après vous, quelles sont
les qualités nécessaires pour
exercer ce métier ?
Une complète connaissance du marché
et une bonne capacité d’organisation,
mais aussi savoir faire preuve d’initiative
et de créativité. Surtout dans le secteur
de l’organisation des expositions
automobiles, un marché toujours en
évolution. Pour anticiper et comprendre
les exigences des clients, une étude
constante et approfondie de l’actualité
est indispensable. C’est sur la base de
ces indications que l’on peut construire
une stratégie de vente efficace et ciblée.
« La communication
joue un rôle de
premier plan »
Quel est le parcours à suivre pour
devenir directeur commercial ?
optimisme.
Commercial
director:
Know-how and
initiative
Marco Angrisani,
Commercial director at Promotor
International in Bologna
“Communication is at the
forefront”
What is a Commercial director?
At Promotor International, an Italian company
that specialises in organising motor shows such
as the Bologna Motor Show, the role of the
commercial director is intimately linked to that of
the marketing director. Communication is at the
forefront when putting together sales strategies
which will be studied with the direction in the
aim of anticipating evolution in the market and
client requirements. At the studying and putting
together stage, the director never works alone.
He can count on assistance from a team of
professionals.
In your opinion, what qualities do you
need to be able to do this job?
Complete familiarity with the market and good
organisational skills, as well as being able to
take the initiative, plus a dash of creativity. This
is particularly true in the “automotive” exhibition
organisation sector, which is a market in constant
change. To anticipate and understand the demands
of our clients, it is essential that we examine the
latest news constantly and in depth. It is on the
basis of these indications that we can put together
an effective and well-targeted sales strategy.
How did you come to be a commercial
director?
I started by studying Economics at the University
of Bologna, during which time I specialised in
marketing. Corporate communication in the
sports sector was one of my first professional
experiences. Then, between 2000 and 2007, I was
marketing director. Since then, I have added the
role of commercial director. My experience in
marketing and my contacts with the world of
communication have allowed me to adopt a
more creative approach in my work.
What do you think of what you do?
