to 3-7 m with thin, variable short grasses, mainly Aristida spp.<br />

16. Riparian thorn formation <strong>of</strong> the Wadi el Ku' and main tributaries:<br />

Acacia mellifera dominant, with Boscia senegalensis, Acacia nubica and<br />

Balanites aegyptiaca, <strong>of</strong>ten in a dense growth <strong>of</strong> bushes and forming a<br />

canopy; average height 3 m but may attain 10 m. Hyphaene thebaic a<br />

locally in south. Shrubs include Cadaba farinosa, Capparis tomentosa<br />

and Grewia tenax. Variable grass growth, thinning in thickets, includes<br />

Aristida spp., Echinochloa colona, Eragrostis gangetica, and Chloris<br />

biflorus<br />

F. Semi-desert scrub, north <strong>of</strong> a line through Furawiya Wells and Musbat:<br />

scattered, stunted bushes, mainly Maerua crassifolia growing to average<br />

height 2 m. Abundant Chloris biflorus, with Aristida plumosa and<br />

Panicum turgidum<br />
