The fourth volume of the International Bibliography of Vegetation
Maps covers Africa, South America and The World.
As in volumes I, II and III, the references are arranged geographically
as indicated by the organization of the table of contents.
Accordingly, maps are grouped in regions and subregions
and countries; this facilitates the user's location of all maps pertinent
to a given problem. World maps in scales down to
1:120,000,000 are included; the detail possible at smaller scales
did not appear to warrant inclusion.
The de facto political boundaries of nations and their divisions
have been used as they existed during February 1969.
The method of presenting the information on the vegetation
maps is essentially as outlined in the introduction to volume L
As before, readers are urgently requested to notify the editor of
all published vegetation maps that may have been omitted from
this bibliography or that may have been published later. Such
information will be used in projected supplements to the International
Bibliography of Vegetation Maps.
