l’appartement. Méfiez vous des annonces à très
bas prix. Evitez les agences qui vous demandent
de payer pour consulter leurs listes d’annonces.

Beware of swindlers
Don’t pay before visiting a flat. Be careful with a
very cheap rental, there is often a hidden problem.
Avoid estate agencies which ask for money
to consult their ad lists. In case of litigation,
contact the ADIL 75 which offers free legal help.
Student residence
The CROUS offers some rooms in student halls
of residence. Unfortunately, there are few rooms
and the application process takes a lot of time.
There is also the Cité Universitaire of Paris which
offers rooms for foreign students.
Private student residence
Rooms with a wide range of services (wifi,
laundry, cleaning work…). Sciences Po has a
partnership with the residences ICADE at Issy les
Moulineaux and Vanves.
Intergenerational housing
You can also explore the track of the family housing
or the intergenerational housing, by renting a
room in the flat of an elderly person.
Quand on cherche à se loger, Paris se transforme
rapidement en jungle. Mais avec un peu
d’organisation, on finit toujours par trouver son
bonheur. Les propriétaires parisiens peuvent se
montrer méfiants, Sciences Po est une carte de
visite très efficace.
Epluchez les offres et sélectionnez-en un bon
nombre. Les appartements ne ressemblent pas
forcément à la description de l’annonce, alors il
vaut mieux en visiter plusieurs. N’hésitez pas à
chercher les défauts des appartements. Pensez
à amener avec vous tous les documents nécessaires
(photocopies d’un document d’identité, de
la carte d’étudiant, des trois derniers bulletins de
salaires et de l’avis d’imposition de votre garant,
RIB) pour gagner du temps en cas de coup de
cœur.

becomes a jungle. But with a bit of organization,
you will eventually find your place. Parisian landlords
can be quite suspicious and Sciences Po
is a very useful reference in terms of reputation
and solvability, so don’t forget to make use of it!
Check offers carefully and select a number
of apartments to visit. The actual apartments
do not necessarily correspond to the descriptions,
hence it is better to visit several places
before making a decision. Don’t hesitate to look
for deficiencies in the apartments - Parisian
landlords cannot always be trusted. Remember
to bring all the necessary documents in order to
save time if you suddenly find THE place. Make
sure you never pay anything with out receiving a
receipt. Don’t give up, you’ll always end up finding
something!
