english8.0 Reasons for operationalproblems - troubleshootingPoor draught• Check the length of the chimney and that it complies withnational laws and regulations. Make sure that the minimumcross section on the chimney is large enough. See also «2.0Technical data» and «4.5 Chimney» for information.• Make sure that there is not anything preventing the smokegasses from escaping: Branches, trees, etc.The fire extinguishes after a while• Make sure that the firewood is sufficiently dry• Find out whether there is negative pressure in the house, closemechanical fans and open a window close to the stove.• Check that the air vent is open.• Check that the flue outlet is not clogged by sootUnusual amount of soot accumulates on theglassSome soot will always stick to the glass, but the quantity dependson:• Humidity of the fuel.• The local draught conditions• Regulating the air vent.Most of the soot will normally burn off when the air vent isopened all the way and a fire is burning briskly in the fireplace.«6.1Cleaning the glass - good advice» .9.0 Optional equipmentSpecial adapter (fig. 6) cat. no. 340856If connecting the smoke outlet and flue pipe is difficult due tolimited access, Jøtul has a special adapter (optional equipment)available.Installation• Attach the flue pipe to the special adapter.• Cut a wooden peg to size (145mm) and fasten it inthe two grooves on the lowest part inside the adapter(fig. 6A).• Determine where in the fireplace the flue pipe and theadapter should be placed.• Secure the adapter approx. 5-10 mm over the fireplace. Note:Make sure the centre is aligned with the centre of the flueoutlet• After inserting the cassette put a hand up through the flueoutlet, twist and pull down the adapter through the openingby using the wooden peg.• Twist again to lock the connection.Note! It is important that the joints are completely sealed.
