Prior to using the product the installation must beinspected by a qualified person.A product data label in heat resistant material is located on theheat shield at the back of the product. english3.0 Safety precautions3.1 Fire preventive measuresAny use of the fireplace may represent some danger. Therefore,respect the following instructions:• Ensure that furniture and other flammable materials do notget too close to the fireplace.• Let the fire die. Never put it out with water as this maydamage the product.• The fireplace gets warm when used and may cause burns iftouched.• Only remove the ashes when the stove is cold.• Ash must be properly disposed of outdoors, or emptied whereit does not entail a fire hazard.3.2 Air supplyWarning! Please ensure that there is adequate air supply from theoutdoors to the room in which the fireplace is to be installed.An inadequate air supply could cause smoke gas to escape intothe room. This is very dangerous! Symptoms of this include smokysmell, drowsiness, nausea and feeling ill.Ensure that air vents in the room where the fireplace is locatedare not blocked.Avoid using mechanical fan vents in a room with a fireplace.This may cause negative pressure and draw poisonous gassesinto the room.4.0 InstallationJøtul C 21/C 22 is a cassette designed to fit into existing fireplaces.The products would fit equally well into a new fireplace frame.Jøtul C 21/C 22 requires a front opening of 500x650x400 mm(HxWxD).Front panels may be purchased as optional equipment and willcover openings up to 555x810 mm.If the products should be mounted into anew fireplace frame:4.1 FloorFoundationsEnsure that the floor is strong enough for the fireplace. See «2.0Technical data» for weights.Wooden floor protectionThe floor must be covered with a layer of min. 100 mmconcrete.We recommend that you contact the local Jøtul dealer prior tothe installation.Requirement for protecting combustibleflooring in front of fireplaceThe front plate must be in accordance with national laws andregulations. Contact your local building authorities regardingrestrictions and installation requirements.4.2 WallDistance to walls made of combustiblematerial- see fig. 1Requirements for insulation100 mm rock wool 120 kg/m 3 foliated on one side withaluminium.Distance from the stove to the insulation onthe back panel: 0 mm.Requirements for the stove surroundThe stove surround must be made in an incombustible material.Note that the entire back panel within the surround must becovered by insulation.If the stove cowling is bricked up to the ceiling and the ceiling ismade of combustible material, on top of the warming chamberand the cowling vents an extra ceiling panel must be installedto avoid heating the ceiling.For example use:Rock wool 100 mm thick on top of a steel plate min. 0,9 mm.Ensure airing out the top of the stove cowling – for example anopening towards the ceiling, or approx. 5 cm 2 opening.Note: Remember that it should be possible to sweep and toinspect the installation.9
