Meanwhile, visitors of public libraries in Kulon Progo Regency in 2009 has
decreased by 16,06% compared to 2008. A total of 41.958 visitors consisted of 5.095
visitors (12,14%) of elementary school students, 8.127 visitors (19,37%) of junior
high students, 10.875 visitors (25,92%) of high school students, 6.295 visitors
(15,00%) of college/university students and 11.566 visitors (27,57%) of others.

There are several indicators of religion, health, security, to capture the picture
of social dynamics of Kulon Progo Regency in 2009. Based on data from the Ministry
of Religious Affairs of Kulon Progo Regency, the majority of the population of Kulon
Progo Regency are Moslems by 93,64 percent, followed by 4,75 percent of Catholics,
Christians by 1,46 percent, 0,15 percent of Buddhist, and Hindu religion follower by
0,01 percent.
Among numerous places of worship in Kulon Progo Regency, there were 1.016
mosques, 523 private mosques, 514 prayer houses, 21 Christian churches, 4 Catholic
churches and 48 chapels, where the largest number of chapels were in the
Kalibawang subdistrict of 20 chapels. Places of worship of Buddhist were monasteries
