2009 GROSS REGIONAL DOMESTIC PRODUCT
Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) defined as total value added of the
goods and services produces in the certain period of a region. GRDP is calculated in
two prices concepts, current and constant price.
Based on BPS – Statistics of Kulon Progo Regency calculation, the value of GRDP
at current market prices in 2009 was 3,286 trillion rupiahs, increased 248,113 billion
rupiahs from 2008. Meanwhile, the value of GRDP at 2000 constant prices in 2009
was 1,728 trillion rupiahs or increased 65,934 billion compared to previous year.
1. ECONOMIC GROWTH
One indicator that is often used to measure the real economic performance in a
region is the rate of economic growth calculated based on changes of GDRP at
constant prices during the year against the previous year.
The economic growth of Kulon Progo Regency in 2009 described by the growth
rate of GRDP at constant market prices in 2009 compared to 2008’s value. In 2009,
the economy of Kulon Progo increased by 3,97 percent. Compared to 2008 growth,
there was a slight deceleration of 0,74 point. The slowdown caused by slower growth
in Agriculture and Services sectors which have a dominant contribution to the total
formation of GRDP.
Sectoral-wise, nine sectors recorded positive growth rates in 2009. Mining and
Quarrying sector hit the highest growth rate of 8,81 percent. Followed by Financial
sector, Leasing, and Business Services sector that grew by 8,55 percent, and
Electricity, Gas, and Water Supply sector which increased 6,52 percent.
2. ECONOMICS STRUCTURE
The value of GRDP at current market prices of Kulon Progo Regency in 2009 was
3.286 trillion rupiahs. With total population of 374.921, the GRDP per capita
reached Rp. 8.765.255. GRDP per capita is obtained by dividing the value-added
