La musica della vita, come in un Film Un giorno, a Los Angeles, in preda alla nostalgia, si è messo a cuocere una piadina nella sua camera d’albergo. “Purtroppo la piada è bruciata, c’è stato un po’ di fumo, e dopo pochi secondi un pompiere ha bussato alla mia porta, con un’ascia in mano…”. Era una delle prime volte di Andrea Guerra in California. Oggi gli Stati Uniti, per il grande musicista e compositore di Santarcangelo, sono diventati quasi la seconda patria. “Ma l’ideale è poi tornare in Italia, dove ho la mia famiglia, tanti amici”. Il lavoro, quello non manca davvero: dopo aver incantato il cinema italiano con le sue colonne sonore, lavorando con alcuni dei più grandi registi e collezionando premi su premi (tra cui il David di Donatello, nel 2003, per La finestra di fronte di Ferzan Ozpetek) è diventato richiestissimo anche oltre Oceano. Decisiva è stata la collaborazione nel 2004 con Terry George, per la colonna sonora di Hotel Rwanda. Le musi- testo Manuel Spadazzi Tra Los Angeles e New York si muove Andrea Guerra, pluripremiato compositore di colonne sonore e brani per grandi artisti internazionali. Scritti con tutta la leggerezza, l’ironia e la sobrietà ereditate da Santarcangelo di Romagna. che gli sono valse addirittura le nomination ai Grammy e ai Golden Globe. Poi la consacrazione, nel 2006, con le musiche scritte per il primo film ‘americano’ di Gabriele Muccino, La ricerca della felicità, la pellicola campione di incassi con Will Smith. Davvero non ha mai pensato di andare a vivere negli Stati Uniti? “In realtà ci ho pensato a trasferirmi là, anche se già adesso passo molti mesi tra Los Angeles e New York. Ma anche se è molto attraente, vivere in America sarebbe innaturale per me. Là non è tutto ‘red carpet’ o eventi, ci sono anche molte contraddizioni”. Intanto però gli ultimi film a cui ha lavorato sono tutti americani… Pensa di aver scoperto ogni ‘segreto’ di Hollywood? “Diciamo che ho capito una parte del meccanismo dell’industria americana. Là il cinema è in mano più ai produttori che ai registi, il lato artistico è subordinato al marketing. In ogni caso il lavoro negli Usa per me è solo all’inizio: è stato come avere una seconda vita artistica”. Di recente è tornato a New York per comporre le musiche del nuovo film di Roberto Faenza, Un giorno questo dolore ti sarà utile, girato e ambientato lì. Quanto ha pesato, in questa scelta, la sua conoscenza del cinema americano? “Parafrasando il suo film, le precedenti esperienze sicuramente mi sono state utili… Poi con Roberto c’è un piccolo connubio: avevo già lavorato con lui, per Prendimi l’anima e Don Puglisi. Mi trovo bene, ogni suo film è qualcosa di unico, ed è bello cambiare. Anche i produttori americani del film mi conoscevano, quindi è venuto tutto naturalmente. In questo lavoro la musica sarà ‘esistenziale’ con sonorità elettroacustiche: chitarre, pianoforte un po’ scordato, pochi archi e tanti suoni vintage. Una colonna sonora di timbri, più suonata che scritta. Con una piccola grande perla”. Quale? “Come in altri film, ho scritto la IN Magazine | 25
