solo all’abbandono formale delle licenze, ma
anche alla maggiore enfasi assegnata nell’ultimo
decennio alla proprietà intellettuale
dalla direzione aziendale.
Non è questa, comunque, una novità reale poiché
se ripercorriamo la lunga storia di Ansaldo
troviamo anni di particolare fulgore per lo sviluppo
intellettuale: il 1915 (74 brevetti, di cui
26 prolungamenti) e il 1918 (68 brevetti di cui
26 prolungamenti). Il massimo della capacità
innovativa dell’impresa, infatti, si è registrata
negli anni Dieci con due picchi toccati durante
la prima guerra mondiale.
È del 1913 un brevetto che ci preme evidenziare
perché relativo alle turbine a gas. Con grande
sorpresa si vede come già agli albori di questa
tecnologia oggi tanto popolare Ansaldo fosse
attiva e competitiva.

di deposito del progetto.
Da segnalare anche che in ambito Ansaldo, al
passaggio sotto il controllo dell’IRI, fu costituito
nel 1935 un laboratorio di elettrotecnica
che raggiunse la consistenza di trecento addetti
di cui settanta ingegneri.
Ancora nell’ambito delle turbine a gas
teniamo a ricordare che, partita la produzione
nel 1991 vent’anni dopo Ansaldo
Energia ha consegnato la centocinquantesima
unità, frutto non certamente di quello
storico brevetto, ma prova evidente di una
tensione continua al miglioramento delle
prestazioni, in primis efficienza ed impatto
ambientale, e di una acquisita autonomia tecnologica.

dell’Ansaldo, Ed. Laterza, Capitolo “Le innovazioni
tecnologiche” di Michelangelo Vasta,
mente le foto relative allo “storico” brevetto del
1913 sulle turbine a gas sono state messe a disposizione
dalla Fondazione Ansaldo.
This strong growth in patent registrations is due
not only to formal independence from licences,
but also to the greater emphasis given by corporate
management over the last decade to intellectual
property.
But this is not a real novelty, because if we retrace
the long history of Ansaldo, we find that certain
years were particularly important in terms of intellectual
property: 1915 (74 patents, of which 26
extensions) and 1918 (68 patents of which 26 extensions).
The company’s top innovative achievements
were in the first decade of the twentieth
century, with two peaks reached during the first
world war.
We would like to draw your attention to a 1913
patent because it refers to gas turbines. It is surprising
to see how Ansaldo was active and competitive
right from the outset of this technology that
is now so popular.

Another interesting fact is that after Ansaldo was
taken over by IRI, in 1935 an electrotechnical workshop
was set up that eventually grew to have a
workforce of three hundred, including seventy engineers.
Still in the area of gas turbines, we would like to remind
you that twenty years after starting production
in 1991, Ansaldo Energia delivered its one hundred
and fiftieth unit, which was not of course
based on that original patent, but represents clear
proof of the company’s ongoing effort to improve
performance, first and foremost in terms of efficiency
and environmental impact, and its own independent
technology.
