You could say Vegas is “on a roll.” The year-end statistics from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), point to continued recovery for tourism with increases in all key indicators. Compared to 2011, visitors increased 2.1% in 2012 with approximately 800,000 more guests. And those record 39.7 million visitors added billion to the local economy. As part of that local impact, Las Vegas’ average daily room rate increased to 8 in 2012. With 84.4% occupancy for its 150,481 rooms, Las Vegas fills more rooms per night on average than any destination in North America. On the Las Vegas Strip, revenues increased 2.3% to .2 billion while Downtown Las Vegas was up 2.5%, reaching 9 million. Las Vegas hosted 21,615 meetings, tradeshows or conventions in 2012, up 13.6%. That attracted 4.9m delegates, a 1.6% increase and the highest convention attendance in four years. Another positive for Southern Nevada: the tourism industry added 23,000 jobs.
