UITERS kompeterende gholf en daarby genotvolle<br />

pret was aan die orde van die dag op<br />

die bane van Orangedene die afgelope<br />

naweek.<br />

Dié toernooi, nou bekend as die Chr<strong>is</strong> Muller<br />

gholfdag, <strong>is</strong> vir die vyfde agtereenvolgende<br />

jaar suksesvol aangebied deur die Tzaneense<br />

sakekamer, en word nou ter herinnering aan ‘n<br />

vorige voorsitter van die kamer gehou.<br />

Besighede moes spanne van 4 spelers elk<br />

inskryf. 16 besighede en 64 gholfspelers het<br />

meegeding vir pryse van heelwat meer as R10<br />

000.<br />

Die SAB (Suid-Afrikaanse Brouery) span van<br />

Ronnie Tosen en Franco Kruger <strong>is</strong> gekroon as<br />

die kampioene met 47 punte. Nataniel Khoza<br />

en Eliaja Matlakala was tweede met 45 punte,<br />

en Leon Pieterse en Lou<strong>is</strong> Scheepers derde.<br />

Die formaat van die toernooi was ‘n tweebal<br />

beterbal.<br />

Die Sakekamer wil graag aan die volgende<br />

borge erkenning gee vir hulle bydrae tot die<br />

sukses van die dag:<br />

Later vanjaar sal die Sakekamer ook weer sy<br />

jaarlikse aand-gholf aanbied. Meer besonderhede<br />

sal later bekend gemaak word.<br />

Beide gholfdae se inkomste word<br />

aangewend vir plaaslike behoeftiges.<br />

Function for Comrades athletes<br />

CHAIRPERSON of the Tzaneen Marathon<br />

Club, Timothy Nkuna, invites all members of<br />

the club to a ‘Good Running’ function for the<br />

club’s entrants in th<strong>is</strong> year’s Comrade’s Marathon.<br />

The function will be held on Saturday, 24<br />

May at M<strong>is</strong>ty Spur starting at 18.00.<br />

He urges all athletes to come and say<br />

farewell to the participants and to w<strong>is</strong>h them<br />

luck for the gruelling up and down marathon<br />

that lies ahead.<br />

A local pharmac<strong>is</strong>t will also talk about sports<br />

related injuries due to running.<br />

Photos will be taken on th<strong>is</strong> day for media<br />

purposes.<br />

After the Comrades has been run and the<br />

participants are home again,<br />

an ‘Aches and Pains Party’ will be held on June<br />

21 at AB 2 farm on the SPCA road. The heroes<br />

and heroines will be welcomed back and<br />

honour brought to those who the club to where<br />

it <strong>is</strong> today.<br />

On May 24, there will be a 21km run in<br />

Polokwane. The starting point will be at the<br />

rugby grounds next to Peter Mokaba stadium at<br />

7:00.<br />

SO lyk die kampioenspan in Saterdag se Sakekamer gholfdag op Orangedene: Ronnie Tosen en<br />

Franco Kruger staan hier tussen Conrad Kruger van Aida, hoofborg van die dag, en Jan de Lang,<br />

voorsitter van die Sakekamer.<br />

MET 45 punte het die twee gholfers tweede<br />

geeindig. Hulle <strong>is</strong> Nataniel Khoza en Eliaja<br />

Matlakala.<br />

WINNERS of the May 12 bridge competition at<br />

Macadamia were Jane Matthews and Jane<br />

Rochester. Runners up were Pauline Burger<br />

and Alta Gubbitz.<br />

Winners of the May 15 competition were<br />

ANTON Muller, middel, met die Chr<strong>is</strong> Muller<br />

gholfdag w<strong>is</strong>seltrofee saam met die wenners,<br />

Ronnie Tosen en Franco Kruger.<br />

Bridge competition winners<br />

The bridge workshop on Tuesday mornings<br />

between 09:00 and 12:00 have been enthusiastically<br />
