■ E-MBA organizes Vlerick Informeel and Career Coaching Event
The economics of consolidation 17th of March
On Thursday 17th of March, the Executive MBA Vlerick Alumni section
(shortly E-MBA) organizes the first Vlerick informeel Panel Debate of
2005.The event will take place in an auditorium of KBC Brussels and
will cover the theme ‘The economics of consolidation’. The panel debate will
try to formulate an answer on questions like: what motives underlie a company’s
expansion policy? Is there an advantage of being the biggest in the
world/market? How to be successful with a global company active in very
local, cultural defined markets? One of the guest speakers of the evening is
Stefaan Descheemaeker, zone president Central & Eastern Europe InBev.
Born in 1960, Stefan joined Interbrew in 1996 after starting his professional
career with the Belgian Ministry of Finance, from where hemoved on to
Banque Paribas. At Interbrew, he held various positions in Business
Development and External Growth Strategy, and was appointed Zone
President US & Latin America in September 2003.
■ Errata Ledenboek 2005
In het Alumni Ledenboek editie 2005 zijn enkele foutjes binnengeslopen die ons pas gemeld zijn na het ter perse gaan. Het gaat om verkeerde foto’s,

Career Coaching Event Monday the 9th of May
On Monday the 9th of May this year, E-MBA will organize a striking,
brand new event, called the ‘Career Coaching Event’. The event that
will take place in the Warande in Brussels, should offer a lot of information
about how to successfully manage a career, because a career is
more than some job rotations or more than just going for the easy money.
The program of the evening consists of two parts. In the first part of the evening,
a theoretic consideration will be presented to the public by HR specialist
and Vlerick professor Dirk Buyens, followed by some personal experiences
of Astrid De Lathauwer (Chief Human Resources Officer Belgacom),
Luc Poppe (Marketing Director Europe Unilever (2003) - Insead EMBA student
(2004)), Reginald Pauwels (CEO WWF) and Stijn Nauwelaerts (Human
Resources M Director Microsoft EHQ). After the testimonials, the participants
will have the opportunity to discuss with the speakers on an excellent
dinner. As to assure the interactivity, the speakers will change tables after
every course of the dinner. This event fits in with E-MBA’s intention to organize
innovative, ‘content’ events.
