Het gaat om de patiënt
Om welke aandoening het ook gaat, altijd staat de zorgvraag
van de individuele patiënt centraal. Dat blijkt niet
alleen uit de zorg en behandeling zelf, maar ook uit de
manier waarop het UMCG die organiseert. Mensen met
veel voorkomende, niet-levensbedreigende aandoeningen
krijgen efficiënte en kwalitatief uitstekende basiszorg
van de hoogste kwaliteit, uitgevoerd door en onder
toezicht van de beste dokters. Snel en efficiënt, want de
patiënt wil zo gauw mogelijk weer naar huis. Het ziekenhuis
kan zelfs de noodzakelijke thuiszorg regelen.

No matter what his or her condition is, the care requirement
of the individual patient always is the focal point.
This is clear not only from the care and treatment themselves,
but also from the way in which the UMCG organizes
them. People with common, non life-threatening
conditions receive efficient basic care of the highest quality,
provided by and under the supervision of the best
physicians. Quickly and efficiently, because the patient
wants to go home as soon as possible. The hospital can
even arrange for the necessary home care.
Het kan ook zijn dat de zorgbehoefte complexer is dan
op het eerste gezicht lijkt. Bijvoorbeeld omdat er meer
ziekten of ook psychosociale problemen meespelen.
Dankzij in eigen huis ontwikkelde screeningsmethoden
kan het UMCG zo’n ingewikkelde zorgvraag en/of multimorbiditeit
in een vroeg stadium signaleren. Deze patiënten
krijgen integrale zorg, begeleiding en behandeling
voor zowel de somatische als de psychosociale proble-
