Resumo - No presente trabalho, a largura do cefalotórax (LC), o comprimento do maior quelípodo
(CQ), nos machos, e a largura do 5º segmento abdominal (L 5 ), nas fêmeas, de 334
indivíduos de Cardisoma guanhumi, capturados no estuário do Rio Jaguaribe, Ceará,
Brasil, entre Dez./06 e Nov./07, foram mensurados. O tamanho da muda puberal foi
determinado através do ponto de inflexão da curva na relação LC x CQ e LC x L 5 . A
largura do cefalotórax em que ocorre a muda puberal, foi igual a 7,10 cm, nos machos, e
6,20 cm, nas fêmeas. Foram obtidas as seguintes relações, para juvenis e adultos,
respectivamente, dos machos: CQ = 0,0747 LC 2,2826 e CQ = 0,5148LC 1,3055 ; e das
fêmeas: L 5 = 0,0839LC 2,5744 e L 5 = 0,6666LC 2,0554 .

Abstract - In the present study, the width of the cephalothorax (LC), the length of the largest
chelipod (CQ), for males, and the length of the 5 th abdominal segment, for females, were
measured from 334 specimes of Cardisoma guanhumi, caught from Dec./06 to Nov./07,
in the Jaguaribe River Estuary, Ceara State, Brazil. The size of pubertal molting was
determined through the inflection point of the relation LC x CQ and LC x L 5 . The width
of the cephalothorax in which the pubertal molting occurs was equal to 7.1 cm, for males,
and 6.20 cm, for females. The following equations were obtained, for juvenile and adult
specimens, respectively, for males: CQ= 0.0747 LC 2, 2826 and CQ = 0.5148 LC 1, 3055 , and
for females: L 5 = 0,0839LC 2,5744 and L 5 = 0,6666LC 2,0554 .
