Angel Unaware: The Tara Cole Story O Anjo Inconsciente: A História de Tara Cole Em Agosto de 2006, Tara Denise Cole foi brutalmente assassinada por dois homens que quiseram ter “algum gozo” torturando pessoas “sem-abrigo”. Enquanto que as pessoas se referiram frequentemente a ela como “ a sem-abrigo que foi lançada ao rio”, a família de Tara desejava que as pessoas a conhecessem e se lembrassem dela pela pessoa que era, uma mulher querida e amável que vivia com uma doença mental que poucos podiam compreender. Tara era a típica jovem “teen-age”. Era extremamente popular, tinha imensos amigos, e mantinha-se numa via de estrelato no Secundário. Era igualmente uma pessoa carinhosa, que amava a natureza e ajudar os outros. À medida que foi crescendo, Tara começou a apresentar as suas estranhas mudanças de humor. Tara, a menina feliz-felizarda, era agora uma mulher gravemente deprimida e paranóide. Num esforço para ajudar a sua filha, a mãe de Tara, Pearl, foi com ela ao médico, que lhe diagnosticou uma depressão grave, medicando-a para isso. Mas a sua situação agravou-se, e, para evitar auto-agressões, foi internada num hospital psiquiátrico. Quando teve alta, prometeu que manteria a medicação de forma regular, mas não conseguiu cumprir a promessa. Porque Tara era uma pessoa adulta, dizem aos pais que não poderão fazer nada para a ajudar. Ficam limitados e forçados a seguir a deterioração mental da sua filha… (Escrito por Leo Hall) (2007) Duração/Runtime: 100 min Competition: International Cinema In August 2006, Tara Denise Cole was brutally murdered by two men who wanted to have “some fun” torturing homeless people. While people often referred to her as “the homeless woman who was thrown into the river”, Tara’s family wanted people to know and remember Tara for the person that she was, a loving, caring, and kind woman who lived with a mental disorder that few people could understand. Tara was your typical teen-age girl. She was very popular in high school. She had lots of friends, and was a high school track star. She was also a caring person who loved nature and helping others. As Tara grew older, she began to exhibit her strange behavioral changes. Tara, the happy-go-lucky girl, was now a severely depressed and paranoid woman. In an effort to help her daughter, Tara’s mother, Pearl, takes her to see a doctor. Tara was first diagnosed with severe depression and sent home with some medication. But Tara’s condition grew worse. To keep Tara from hurting herself, Pearl admitted Tara to a mental hospital. When Tara was released, she made a promise to stay on her medications, but she soon breaks her promise. Because Tara is an adult, her parents are told that they cannot do anything to help her. They are forced to watch their daughter’s mental condition deteriorate. (Written by Leo Hall) 9
