Gaya<br />
No final do ano <strong>de</strong> 2015, no<br />
dia 18 <strong>de</strong> outubro, nasceu no<br />
Zoo Brasília, com 4,5 quilos, um<br />
filhote fêmea <strong>de</strong> Adax (Addax<br />
nasomaculatus) apelidada pelos<br />
visitantes <strong>de</strong> “Gaya”. O animal<br />
é um antílope oriundo <strong>de</strong> áreas<br />
<strong>de</strong>sérticas do norte da África.<br />
Em maio, o filhote pô<strong>de</strong> ficar no<br />
ambiente externo no recinto, foi<br />
para a ala da maternida<strong>de</strong> junto<br />
com a mãe <strong>de</strong>ntro do recinto, na<br />
Galeria África.<br />

On October 18, 2015, a female<br />
calf of addax (Addax nasomaculatus)<br />
was born in Zoo Brasília<br />
with 4.5 kilos and was nicknamed<br />
“Gaya” by the visitors. The animal<br />
is an antelope from the <strong>de</strong>sert areas<br />
of northern Africa. In May, the calf<br />
was able to stay on exhibition and<br />
went to the maternity ward along<br />
with the mother insi<strong>de</strong> the external<br />
area on their enclosure in the Africa<br />
Gallery. In the first months of life,<br />
Gaya had to be un<strong>de</strong>r surveillance<br />

Nos primeiros meses <strong>de</strong> vida,<br />
Gaya teve que ficar <strong>de</strong> resguardo<br />
para que técnicos do Zoo acompanhassem<br />
o comportamento e a<br />
saú<strong>de</strong> do animal. Na maternida<strong>de</strong><br />
ela passou por exames, tomou<br />
vacinas e vermífugos e teve o peso<br />
e o tamanho acompanhados. A<br />
família <strong>de</strong> Adax no Zoo é formada<br />
pela mãe, o pai e o irmão.<br />
