primeiro bimestre.
vendas no terceiro mês do ano. Esses dados são do
último “Monitoramento das Exportações de Móveis”,
estudo mensal realizado pelo IEMI – Inteligência
de Mercado com exclusividade para as empresas
associadas ao Projeto Brazilian Furniture — iniciativa
da ABIMÓVEL em parceria com a Apex-Brasil.
A PANDEMIA TAMBÉM TEM IMPACTADO NA
OBTENÇÃO DAS MATÉRIAS-PRIMAS PARA A
INDÚSTRIA DO MOBILIÁRIO?
A explosão no consumo de móveis e colchões
no início do segundo semestre (junho/julho) do ano
passado, encontrou as empresas com baixos estoques,
devido à interrupção do comércio físico e o
fechamento de fábricas nos meses anteriores. Dessa
Deixando a indústria
assim, problemas no varejo e atrasando as
What is your evaluation of the Sector’s domestic
and export markets during the Covid-19 pandemic?
In terms of domestic and export markets, considering
the impact of the pandemic on industry and trade,
we had predicted a sharp reduction at first, followed by
a recovery in the following two years, which has been
confirmed starting the second half of 2020. Even with a
4.5% drop in the volume of pieces produced in February
from January 2021, accumulated production in the
first two months increased by 5.5%. The apparent consumption
of furniture and mattresses in the domestic
market followed the same pace, with a 4.6% increase in
the first two months. Thus, demonstrating a more heated
start to the year than usual in the furniture industry.
Brazilian Exports of furniture and mattresses in
March grew 40.1% compared to February this year. Incidentally,
following a positive trend since the beginning
of 2021, the accumulation in the first quarter was 34.5%,
with all categories (wood furniture, steel furniture,
upholstery, and mattresses) over that in the third month
of the year. These data are from the latest “Monitoring
of Furniture Exports,” a monthly study conducted by
Market Intelligence (IEMI) exclusively for companies associated
with the Brazilian Furniture Project - an initiative
of ABIMÓVEL in partnership with Apex-Brasil.
HAS THE PANDEMIC ALSO IMPACTED THE
SUPPLY OF RAW MATERIALS FOR THE FURNITURE
INDUSTRY?
The explosion in consumption of furniture and mattresses
at the beginning of the second half (June/July)
of last year found companies with low inventories due
to the interruption of the physical trade and the closure
of factories in previous months.
Thus, we had a collapse in the supply chain as it
could not account for the growing demand. Therefore,
leaving the industry without enough material to supply
demand, generating problems in retail, and delaying
purchases made by consumers.
