Within the management an particularly attention must be given to: climate, season, number
of cows, housing system, bull election, hygiene during parturition, heating tracking and insemination
time, rational alimentation, cow reform and selection.
The main factors that can have an effect on fertility of an cow effective are: the sire, the
quality of the seminal material, insemination method, the cow for reproduction, housing conditions
and some incidentally factors.
After the same author it was shown a 15% difference of conception rate after first I.A.
between the bull with the optimal fecundity capacity and the bull with the minimal one.
The I.A. method is essential for a high fecundity rate. The difference between the results
obtained by using different insemination techniques touch 5 – 10% from fecundity obtained rates.
The fecundity drop with 5% to primiparous cows and with more to those older than 7 years.
The fecundity is lower in the winter period.
The hygiene from parturition time may influence with 5 – 10% the gestation index.
Materials and methods
The research’s of this paper are the result of artificial insemination made between 2004 and
May 2007, on farmers cows from Timis county.
The majority of the authors recommend I.A. to be made not earlier than 45 – 50 days after
parturition.
Usually, we made the insemination near the end or after heat period.
To determine the electric impedance of vestibule-vaginal mucosa we used a device made by
HAUPTNER company, named BRUNSTMESSGERAT for cows.
The device function on the rule that the electric resistance, in terms of ohmi, vary on the basis
of the sexual cycle stage and the physiologically state of the female (2).
According to the company producer the values shown by the device mean the next situations:
until 30 ohmi – proestrus stadium;
30 – 40 ohmi – estrus stadium;
over 45 ohmi – metestrus stadium.
We obtain the pH values of cervico-vaginal mucus by using pH-Box reaction paper from
MERCK company.
The pH values of cervico-vaginal mucus during estrus time vary from 6,5 to 6,7 and the in vitro
values are with 0,6 – 0,7 points bigger.
The elasticity have maximum values before or during ovulation time in cows and women’s.
We appreciated the expansion capacity with the help of two blades.
To appreciate the crystallization quality of cervico-vaginal mucus we used an arbitrary scale
made by Bishnoi et all, 1982 (5), which show:
0 – lack of crystallization;
1 – formatting of a single atypical crystal;
2 – formatting of more than one atypical crystals and also a few normal ones (ferny
aspect);
3 – formatting of a few normal crystals and only to a one atypical crystal;
4 – formatting only the normal crystals.
We mention that during the entire observations time the artificial insemination method was
made by the same person in point of the insemination time, thawing the seminal material, place to
put the seminal material in female genital organs.
Results and discussions
Cow fertility is determined from a multitude of internal and external factors, from witch the
more important are: the functional integrity of the reproduction system, concordance between the
optimal insemination time and ovulation, functional capacity or biological value of seminal material.
Results obtained after I.A. in cows and fecundity obtained at first two sexual cycles on the
research period time are presented in table 1.
