Call for Papers<br />

The Daegu Organizing Committee and the World Energy Council are pleased to invite authors to submit papers for<br />

the 22 nd World Energy Congress. Your active involve<strong>me</strong>nt in this Call for Papers provides an excellent opportunity to<br />

contribute to the develop<strong>me</strong>nt of the global energy community. All of the selected papers will be presented to the<br />

dedicated expert forum at the Congress and distributed to all delegates on USB flash drives. Prizes will be awarded for<br />

the best papers – further details to be announced shortly.<br />

Paper Submission Opens: 1 October 2012<br />

Paper Submission Deadline: 28 February 2013<br />

Selected Papers Notification: 15 May 2013<br />

Award Winners Notification: 1 July 2013<br />

Presentation at the Congress: 13-17 October 2013<br />

Paper Topic Categories<br />

Authors are invited to provide their insight on a the<strong>me</strong> relating to WEC’s six main Activity Areas:<br />

Energy Scenarios<br />

Energy Resources and Technologies<br />

Energy Policy Trilemma (i.e. the trade-off between energy security, social equity and<br />

environ<strong>me</strong>ntal impact mitigation)<br />

Energy Access<br />

Energy and Urban Innovation<br />

Global Energy Fra<strong>me</strong>works and Governance<br />

Paper Preparation Guidelines<br />

General<br />

- The paper must be substantially different from any published work.<br />

- The paper cannot be under review for any other conference or journal at any point during the Call for<br />

Papers process.<br />

- The paper must be written in English and must not exceed 15 pages in total length.<br />

Text Layout<br />

- The paper must be typed in single column format on international standard size A4 paper with margins of<br />

2.54cm.<br />

- The main text should be single-spaced and in 11pt Arial or Ti<strong>me</strong>s New Roman font. Footnotes should<br />

appear in 9pt font.<br />

Structure (no more than 15 pages in total)<br />

- Cover (1 page): Title, authors, affiliations. Clearly indicate who is responsible for correspondence at all<br />

stages of submission, selection and presentation, including post-presentation. The following contact details<br />

must be provided for all co-authors: full postal address, email address, telephone and fax numbers (with<br />

country and area codes).<br />

- Executive Summary (1 page): Key Findings and Takeaways, Keywords. Provide self-contained one page<br />

Executive Summary outlining the aims, scope, core findings and conclusions of the paper. List 3-5<br />

keywords of the paper.<br />

- Main Text (no more than 10 pages). All figures and tables should be embedded in the text in the location<br />

that they should appear and numbered consecutively and given a suitable caption. Footnotes should be<br />

indicated in the text by superscript numbers which run consecutively through the paper.<br />

- Conclusions and Relevant Implications (1-2 pages)<br />

- References All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references following the text of<br />

the paper.<br />

- Appendix Appendices should be avoided whenever possible and their content incorporated into the text.<br />

Where this is not feasible, they should appear at the end of the paper.<br />

Submission Guidelines<br />

- The online paper submission system will open on 1 October 2012.<br />

- Papers should be submitted in PDF format.<br />

- The author must answer any additional uestions dee<strong>me</strong>d necessary at submission stage.<br />
