The star of domestic production shines
The world’s number one toy manufacturer, China, has become unable to export its
products with the global epidemic. This situation is expected to stand out domestic
production in many countries, including Turkey. With Covid-19, which threatened the
world and forced people to spend time in their homes, toy sales increased after the
curfew brought to children. However, the world’s number one toy manufacturer, China’s
being the center of the disease, made it necessary to take additional measures regarding
toys from China. Having a share of 55% of the world toy market last year, China’s share
in the market is gradually decreasing. With this development, even Turkey’s domestic
production is expected to increase in many countries in toys.
According to TurkStat data last year, Turkey has exported 148 million 507 thousand
dollars in toys. Turkey ranks 43th in the toy world export, it takes only a 1 per thousand
shares from the market. Even China’s closest rival, Czechia, which holds the biggest
share of the toy market, has a 5 percent share from this market, and the eyes have
been turned into whether the production center will change. On the other hand, some
representatives of the sector interpreted that, “The dominance of the market will stop the
import from China, which will open the way for local producers.” Also to be above the
average of the child population shows that potential of the sector is high in Turkey.
Turkey, where is next to Europe, which is the qualified consumption center of the world,
has a high level of competence in the production with its young and skilled workforce.
Turkey has many attractive advantages with its Europe’s largest logistics facilities,
storage capacity and the power to rapidly deliver products to target markets with
intermodal and hybrid methods.
