Domestic Initiative to
Detect Pregnancy Risks with Early Diagnosis Kit
Yerli Girişim, Gebelikteki Riskleri Erken Tanı Kiti ile Tespit Edecek
Worldwide, there are 15 million preterm births
every year; premature birth is among the most
common causes of neonatal death. The domestic
biotechnology initiative, which started working
to prevent this situation, developed an early
diagnosis kit that predicts the risks in pregnancy.
According to the Microbiome and Preterm Birth research
published in Nature magazine, one of the leading
publications of the scientific world, approximately 15
million preterm births occur every year before 37 weeks
of gestation worldwide. It is seen that the prevalence
of preterm birth exceeds 10% worldwide. The research
also reveals that microbiome analysis can benefit the
prediction of preterm birth risk. This proposition in the
field of biotechnology by carrying voice came from Turkey,
an important move as well. Özkan Ufuk Nalbantoğlu, CTO
of the local biotechnology initiative ENBIOSIS, stated
that kits that accurately detect the risk of preterm birth
with microbiome samples taken in the first 3 months of
pregnancy have been developed and that they will be put
into use upon the conclusion of clinical studies conducted
in three different centers.
Dünya genelinde her yıl 15 milyon erken
doğum gerçekleşiyor; erken doğum, yenidoğan
ölümlerinin en yaygın nedenleri arasında yer
alıyor. Bu tablonun önüne geçmek için çalışmalara
başlayan yerli biyoteknoloji girişimi, gebelikteki
riskleri önceden tahmin eden erken tanı kiti
geliştirdi.
Bilim dünyasının önde gelen yayınlarından Nature
dergisinde yayımlanan Mikrobiyom ve Erken Doğum
araştırmasına göre, tüm dünyada her yıl 37. gebelik
haftasından önce yaklaşık 15 milyon erken doğum
gerçekleşiyor. Erken doğum sıklığının ise dünya
genelinde %10’u aştığı görülüyor. Araştırma, mikrobiyom
analiziyle erken doğum riskinin önceden belirlenmesine
fayda sağlayabileceğini de ortaya koyuyor. Bu önerme
biyoteknoloji alanında ses getirirken Türkiye’den de önemli
bir hamle geldi. Yerli biyoteknoloji girişimi ENBIOSIS CTO’su
Özkan Ufuk Nalbantoğlu yaptığı açıklamada hamileliğin
ilk 3 ayında alınan mikrobiyom örnekleriyle erken doğum
riskini doğru bir şekilde tespit eden kitler geliştirildiklerini
ve üç farklı merkezde yürütülen klinik çalışmaların
sonuçlanmasıyla kullanıma sunacaklarını belirtti.
