YANACAK YANİ?

Genelde hep iyi şeyler yazardım sizler için. Biraz daha umutlu, biraz daha güçlü

ve daha istikrarlı. Ama artık sizlerin de kafası karışmaya başlamadı mı? Durup

bir etrafıma baktığımda neden çabalarımızın karşılığını aldığımız bir manzara

göremiyorum? Zaman bizi ne yöne doğru götürüyor? Acaba biz bu karışıklığın içinde

bir şeyleri eksik mi bırakıyoruz?

Çember günden güne daralıyor. Sağlıklı olmak, sağlıklı kalmak her geçen zamanda

biraz daha zorlaşıyor.

Yaklaşık 10 ay öncesine dönelim. Talihsiz bir dönemin ilk zamanlarına…

Sohbetlerimizi hatırlayalım. Halimizi, hatrımızı sorduğumuzda sevdiklerimizin,

değer verdiklerimizin iyi olduğu haberlerini daha sık alıyorduk. Tanıdıklarımızda

çok da fazla rastlamıyorduk salgın kapma haberlerine. Ama şimdi soruyorum:

Etrafınızda benim tanıdığım hiç kimsede Covid-19 hastalığı yok diyebileniniz var

mı? Peki, kendinizden ne kadar eminsiniz? Sabahtan akşama dek kendinizi tam

anlamıyla güvende hissettiğiniz kaç gününüz oldu?

Sevgili sektör paydaşlarım! Bu zor zamanların neredeyse her adımını sizlerle

paylaşıyoruz, çoğu kez istişare ediyoruz. Yeni yollar arıyoruz, buluyoruz. İlaç ve

medikal ekipman gibi gereçleri sağlayan, sağlık hizmeti sunan, eşsiz başarılarıyla

olağan dışı çabalarını harmanlayan bilim insanlarını bünyesinde barındıran yol

arkadaşlarım! İlk günden bu yana verdiğiniz çabaya şahitlik etmekten dolayı ben de

ekip arkadaşlarım da çok mutluyuz, gururluyuz. Ülkemiz için sağladığınız gayretleri,

uluslararası çapta verdiğiniz hizmetleri takdir ediyoruz!

Ve şimdi diyoruz ki, öyle bilinçlendirme kampanyalarınız, öyle duyurularınız olsun ki,

siz çaresiz insanların, kalabalığın içindeki yalnızlığına erişen dost, yardımına uzanan

el olun. Üzülerek söylüyorum ki, tüm dünyada hala bu bilince varamamış topluluklar

var. Maske, mesafe ve hijyen diyoruz. Tüm bu tedbirlere hala yüz çevirenler var. Ve

bu insanlar aslında bizim en büyük tehdidimiz. Öyle şeyler düşünelim, öyle şeyler

yapalım ki, kurunun yanında yaş da yanmasın…

Daha bilinçli bir dünyaya yelken açtığımız haberlerle bir sonraki sayımızda görüşmek

dileğiyle. Sağlıkla kalın!

NOW, WILL IT THROW THE BABY OUT

WITH THE BATHWATER?

I always wrote good things for you. A little more hopeful, a little stronger and more

stable. But isn’t yours starting to get confused anymore? When I stop and look

around, why can’t I see a sight where our efforts are paid off? In what direction is

time taking us? Are we leaving something missing in this confusion?

The circle is narrowing day by day. Being healthy and staying healthy is getting

harder with each passing time.

Let’s go back to about 10 months ago. Back to the early days of an unfortunate

period… Let’s remember our conversations. When we asked about our state and

remembrance, we were getting news more often that our loved ones and those

we valued were good. We did not see much of the news of the epidemic in our

acquaintances. But now I’m asking: Can anyone around you say that anyone I know

has no Covid-19 disease? So how confident are you? How many days have you had

you felt completely safe from morning till night?

Dear industry partners! We share almost every step of these difficult times with you,

we often consult. We are looking for and finding new ways. My fellow travelers, who

provide tools such as medicine and medical equipment, provide health services,

and include scientists who blend their unique success and extraordinary efforts! I

and my teammates are very happy and proud to have witnessed your effort since the

first day. We appreciate your efforts for our country and your international services!

And now we say that you should have such awareness raising campaigns and

announcements that you become the friend who reaches the loneliness of the

helpless people in the crowd, the hand reaching out to your aid. I regret to say

that there are still communities all over the world that do not have this awareness.

We abide the rules of masks, social distance and hygiene. There are still those

who turn away from all these measures. And these people are actually our biggest

threat. Let’s think of such things, let’s do such things so that never throw the baby

out with the bathwater…

doors of all countries in the world one by one.

The company, which has also the feature of being

‘first’ in the important areas in Turkey, continues

to maintain its claim in the market with its new

device which stands out with its differences from

its peers.

Who is Kırmızı Bayrak Technology?

Kırmızı Bayrak Technology is an R&D company established

in Gaziantep and currently headquartered in Izmir. It

operates in various projects in the fields of medical, energy,

biology and automotive. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic,

which deeply affected the world, the company decided to

produce domestic respirators, and completed the R & D of

the respiratory device in a short period of 2 months. Due to

its reputation in the foreign market, the production center

Türkiye’de bir ilk olarak firmada gerçekleştirilen üretim

ayağında sadece mühendisler yer alıyor. Kırmızı Bayrak

Teknoloji, kadın istihdamına da oldukça önem veriyor. Bu

sebeple ekibin %100’e yakını kadın personellerden oluşuyor.

Çalışanlar arasında elektrik- elektronik mühendisleri,

makine mühendisleri, biyomedikal mühendisleri, sağlık

danışmanları ve Türkiye’nin ilk tıp mühendisleri yer alıyor.

Kırmızı Bayrak Technology has also the “firsts” in

Turkey

Only engineers take part in the production stage which is

performed at the company in Turkey first. Kırmızı Bayrak

Technology also attaches great importance to women’s

employment. For this reason, almost 100% of the team

consists of female staff. There are electrical and electronic

engineers, mechanical engineers, biomedical engineers,

health consultants and the first medical engineers of

Turkey among employees.

Hasan Karaozan, Chairman of Kırmızı Bayrak Teknology,

said that the most important factor which motivates them

in the production and emergence of the device is to restore

human health to maximum comfortable health at minimum

cost and request to be met by a Turkish firm, and he

pointed out, “We know that we can do the best if we want”

and he said that they continue to work with their mission.

A journey back to the world from Turkey

Unlike its counterparts, the hardware and software of the

device are designed to require minimum technical support.

Thanks to the Secomea remote access inside the device,

the device can be intervened remotely at any problem

anywhere in the world. The power and the electronic

infrastructure of the company is supplied by Delta

Electronics, the world giant. Delta Electronics has a service

network in 166 countries. Thus, the company’s service

network will also be very strong. The flow sensor used in

the device is designed and placed in such a way that it does

not require frequent replacement and is used for a lifetime,

unlike other devices. Likewise, the battery in the device can

be used without changing for 10 years and will not cause

any problems if used correctly in emergency situations.

The entire body of the device is made of aluminum material

and thus a product with a quality that can compete with

the world’s giant brands has been generated. There are

serious demands for the device from Kazakhstan, Poland,

Romania, Spain, Pakistan, Iraq and Slovenia. Kırmızı Bayrak

Technology has received an order of approximately $ 4.5

million so far and continues to increase its production

capacity rapidly.

uzaktan erişimi sayesinde, cihaz dünyanın neresinde olursa

olsun herhangi bir problem anında uzaktan müdahale

edilebilmektedir. Güç, firmanın elektronik altyapısı dünya

devi olan Delta Electronics tarafından karşılanmaktadır.

Delta Electronics’in 166 ülkede servis ağı bulunmaktadır.

Böylece firmanın servis ağı da çok güçlü olacaktır. Cihazın

içerisinde kullanılan akış sensörü diğer cihazların aksine

sık değişim gerektirmeyecek, ömürlük kullanılacak şekilde

dizayn edilmiş ve yerleştirilmiştir. Yine aynı şekilde cihazın

içerisinde bulunan batarya 10 yıl değişim gerektirmeden

kullanılabilecek, acil durumlarda doğru kullanıldığı takdirde

sorun oluşturmayacaktır. Cihazın bütün gövdesi alüminyum

malzemeden üretilmiş ve bu sayede Dünya devi markalarla

yarışabilecek kaliteye sahip bir ürün ortaya çıkarılmıştır.

Kazakistan, Polonya, Romanya, İspanya Pakistan, Irak,

Slovenya’dan cihaza ciddi talepler mevcuttur. Kırmızı

Bayrak Teknoloji Dış Ticaret A.Ş., şu ana kadar yaklaşık

4.5 milyon $’lık sipariş almıştır ve hızlı bir şekilde üretim

kapasitesini arttırmaya da devam etmektedir.

Chemical Exports to the USA and Spain Increased by

More than One Hundred Percent in September

According to the data of Istanbul Chemicals

and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association

(IKMIB), exports of the chemical industry

amounted to 1 billion 638 million dollars in

September 2020. Despite the effects of the

pandemic, the nine- month export of the sector,

which has been working to catch the export figure

of last year, reached 13.1 billion dollars.

The chemical industry, which is the second top sector for

export in Turkey, contracted by 12.69 percent compared

to last year, and exported $ 13.1 billion in chemicals and

products in January-September this year. In September,

among the sectors that export the most to countries and

regions, the chemical industry ranked first with exports

to 206 countries and regions. Iraq, USA, Germany, Spain

and England became the top five countries to which, the

chemical products were exported most.

Adil Pelister, Chairman of Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical

Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB) informed about

chemical industry export figures, “This year, our exports

in September chemical industry percent compared to the

same period last year 1, 15 contracted by 1, 6 amounted

billion. There was an increase of approximately 18 percent

compared to last August. With the exports of chemicals

and products to 206 countries and regions in September,

we became the sector that exports the most to countries

and regions. Situated among the top ten in September that

chemical exports to the United States and Spain y attracting

increased attention over 100 hurt. Our sector exports for

nine months reached 13.1 billion dollars. We continue to

produce to minimize the effects of the pandemic and try to

close the gap in our exports. We reduced our loss in exports

to 12 percent in nine months. Hopefully, our expectation

sektörü ihracatı 2020 yılı Eylül ayında 1 milyar

638 milyon dolar olarak gerçekleşti. Pandeminin

etkilerine rağmen geçen seneki ihracat rakamını

yakalamak için çalışan sektörün dokuz aylık

ihracatı 13,1 milyar dolara ulaştı.

Türkiye’nin en çok ihracat gerçekleştiren ikinci sektörü

olan kimya sektörü, bu yıl Ocak-Eylül döneminde geçen yıla

kıyasla yüzde 12,69 daralarak 13,1 milyar dolarlık kimyevi

maddeler ve mamulleri ihracatı gerçekleştirdi. Eylül ayında

en çok ülke ve bölgeye ihracat yapan sektörler arasında

kimya sektörü 206 ülke ve bölgeye yaptığı ihracat ile birinci

sırada yer aldı. Irak, ABD, Almanya, İspanya ve İngiltere en

çok kimyevi maddeler ihracatı yapılan ilk beş ülke oldu.

İstanbul Kimyevi Maddeler ve Mamulleri İhracatçıları

Birliği (İKMİB) Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Adil Pelister, kimya

sektörü ihracat rakamları değerlendirmesinde “Bu yıl Eylül

ayı kimya sektörü ihracatımız geçen yıl aynı döneme göre

yüzde 1,15 daralarak 1,6 milyar dolar olarak gerçekleşti.

Geçtiğimiz Ağustos ayına göre ise yaklaşık yüzde 18’lik

bir artış oldu. Eylül ayında 206 ülke ve bölgeye yaptığımız

kimyevi maddeler ve mamulleri ihracatı ile en çok ülke

ve bölgeye ihracat yapan sektör olduk. Eylül ayında ilk on

arasında yer alan ABD ve İspanya’ya yapılan kimya ihracatı

yüzde 100’ün üzerinde artışla dikkat çekiyor. Dokuz aylık

sektör ihracatımız ise 13,1 milyar dolara ulaştı. Pandeminin

etkilerini en aza indirmek üzere üretmeye devam ediyoruz

ve ihracatımızdaki açığı kapatmaya çalışıyoruz. İhracattaki

kaybımızı dokuz ayda yüzde 12’lere kadar indirdik. İnşallah

önümüzdeki son çeyrekte de beklentimiz bu açığı en aza

indirmek ve kapatmak olacak. Yeni Ekonomi Programı’nda

deficit. With the implementation of the expectations

and targets announced in the New Economy Program,

we hope to complete this year positively and make a

good start to the next year. As the chemical industry,

which supplies raw materials, semi-finished products or

products to other sectors, we will continue to be a pioneer

and work harder for the development of our country, as

always. The most important development that expects

our exporters, financial support will be recognized in our

industry will have the privilege and financing to facilitate

the transportation.”

Most exported country in September was Iraq

Iraq was the top exporting country in September. The

other countries in the top ten following Iraq in September

were the USA, Germany, Spain, England, Italy, Romania,

Israel, Greece and Russia.

Chemical exports to Iraq amounted to 105 million

412 thousand dollars in September 2020. “Plastic and

products”, “ essential oils, cosmetics and soaps”, “washing

preparations”, “paints, varnishes, inks and preparations”,

“Pharmaceuticals”, “miscellaneous chemicals “, “ mineral

fuels, mineral oils and products, “fertilizers”, “adhesives,

glues, enzymes” and “inorganic chemicals” were exported

to Iraq most in September.

Chemical exports increased to 7 countries in the

top 10 in January-September period

The countries with the most chemical exports in the nine

months of January-September 2020 were Iraq, Germany,

Netherlands, USA, Italy, England, Spain, Israel, Romania and

Belgium, respectively. In the same period, among these top

10 countries, there was an increase in chemical exports to 7

countries except the Netherlands, Italy and Spain.

desteklerde sektörümüze tanınacak ayrıcalık ve finansmana

ulaşımın kolaylaştırılması olacaktır” ifadelerini kullandı.

Eylül ayında en fazla ihracat yapılan ülke Irak oldu

Irak, Eylül ayında en çok ihracat yapılan ülke oldu. Eylül

ayında Irak’ı takip eden ilk onda yer alan diğer ülkeler ise

ABD, Almanya, İspanya, İngiltere, İtalya, Romanya, İsrail,

Yunanistan ve Rusya oldu.

Irak’a yapılan kimya ihracatı 2020 yılı Eylül ayında 105

milyon 412 bin dolar olarak gerçekleşti. Eylül ayında

Irak’a en çok “plastikler ve mamulleri”, “uçucu yağlar,

kozmetikler ve sabun”, “yıkama müstahzarları”, “boya,

vernik, mürekkep ve müstahzarları”, “eczacılık ürünleri”,

“muhtelif kimyasal maddeler”, “mineral yakıtlar, mineral

yağlar ve ürünler”, “gübreler”, “yapıştırıcılar, tutkallar,

enzimler” ve “anorganik kimyasallar” ihraç edildi.

Ocak-Eylül döneminde ilk 10 içinde 7 ülkeye kimya

ihracatı arttı

2020 yılı Ocak-Eylül olarak dokuz aylık dönemde en çok

kimya ihracatı yapılan ülkeler ise sırasıyla Irak, Almanya,

Hollanda, ABD, İtalya, İngiltere, İspanya, İsrail, Romanya ve

Belçika olarak ilk onda yer aldı. Aynı dönemde bu ilk 10 ülke

arasında Hollanda, İtalya ve İspanya dışında 7 ülkeye yapılan

kimya ihracatında artış oldu.

Exports of plastics and their products in the chemical

substances and products product groups in September

ranked first in chemical exports with 588 million 533

thousand 203 dollars. Mineral fuels, mineral oils and

products took the second place with exports of 248 million

586 thousand 698 dollars, while exports of essential oils,

cosmetics and soap ranked third with 133 million 477

thousand 670 dollars. Following essential oils, cosmetics and

soap, other sectors in the top ten are; ‘inorganic chemicals’,

‘rubber, rubber goods’, ‘pharmaceutical products’, ‘paints,

varnishes, ink and preparations’, ‘miscellaneous chemicals’,

‘washing preparations’ and ‘organic chemicals’.

While the highest increase in sub-sectors was in the various

chemicals sector in September, the most contraction

occurred in the mineral fuels, mineral oils and products

sector.

ihracatı gerçekleştirildi

Eylül ayında kimyevi maddeler ve mamulleri ürün

gruplarında plastikler ve mamulleri ihracatı, 588 milyon 533

bin 203 dolarla kimya ihracatında ilk sırada yer aldı. İkinci

sırada 248 milyon 586 bin 698 dolarlık ihracatla mineral

yakıtlar, mineral yağlar ve ürünler yer alırken, uçucu yağlar,

kozmetikler ve sabun ihracatı 133 milyon 477 bin 670

dolarla üçüncü sırada yer aldı. Uçucu yağlar, kozmetikler

ve sabunu takiben ilk onda yer alan diğer sektörler ise;

‘anorganik kimyasallar’, ‘kauçuk, kauçuk eşya’, ‘eczacılık

ürünleri’, ‘boya, vernik, mürekkep ve müstahzarları’,

‘muhtelif kimyasal maddeler’, ‘yıkama müstahzarları’ ve

‘organik kimyasallar’ oldu. Eylül ayında alt sektörlerde en

çok artış muhtelif kimyasal maddeler sektöründe olurken

en fazla daralma ise mineral yakıtlar, mineral yağlar ve

ürünleri sektöründe meydana geldi.

production of the solution in the market price of the

equivalent of a global brand that offers these products

Santa Farma has the First and Only

Event of Turkey in Global Platform

Global Platformda Türkiye’den İlk ve Tek Etkinlik Santa Farma’nın

Santa Farma’s “I, you, he ... one of us will be broken”

titled Osteoporosis Awareness Project, is the first

and only organization of Turkey among International

Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) events.

Santa Farma, progressing towards a healthy service to health

by carrying out projects that will raise awareness, has added a

new one to its success in this direction.

The awareness video prepared by Santa Farma for the

October 20 World Osteoporosis Day (WOD) revealed

striking data. Osteoporosis has affected 200 million women

worldwide, one out of every 3 women over the age of 50 has

a risk of osteoporosis-related fractures, osteoporosis over the

age of 50 were detected in 25% of individuals in Turkey were

shared in the Osteoporosis Awareness Project titled “I, you,

he ... one of us will be broken” (“Ben, sen, o... içimizden birisi

kırılacak” in Turkish). In the Awareness Project, the importance

of bone measurement and physician control in order to

prevent osteoporosis was emphasized.

osteoporosis which is one of the world’s most prestigious

academic institutions, is the first and only organization of

Turkey among the International Osteoporosis Foundation

(IOF) events. The awareness video met with healthcare

professionals at the digital stand at the National Osteoporosis

Congress and on Santa Farma’s digital platforms (FTRzone,

Ortopedizone and Ezcazone) for healthcare professionals.

üzerinde osteoporoz alanında en prestijli akademik

Market Digital Award Ceremony on November 21

Kimya 9. Ar-Ge Proje Pazarı Dijital Ödül Töreni 21 Kasım’da

T.C. Ticaret Bakanlığı onayında, İstanbul

Kimyevi Maddeler ve Mamulleri İhracatçıları

Birliği (İKMİB) organizasyonu ve TÜBİTAK

desteği ile düzenlenen “Kimyevi Maddeler ve

Mamulleri Ar-Ge Proje Pazarı”nın 9’uncusu bu yıl

gerçekleştirilecek. Pandemi dolayısıyla dijital

olarak gerçekleştirilecek ve İKMİB’in youtube

kanalından canlı yayınlanacak etkinliğin ödül

töreni 21 Kasım’da yapılacak.

Ar-Ge Proje Pazarı, kimya sektöründe inovatif ve Ar-Ge

yönü güçlü, uygulanabilir fikirleri ticarileştirmeyi hedefliyor.

“İlaç”, “medikal”, “boyalar ve yapıştırıcılar”, “plastik ve

kauçuk”, “kozmetik-sabun ve temizlik ürünleri” ve “temel

kimyasallar” olmak üzere 6 ayrı kategoride başvuruların

değerlendirileceği etkinlikte derece alan proje sahiplerine

600 bin TL ve ek olarak ticarileşen projelere verilecek 100

bin TL özel ödül ile toplam 700 bin TL para ödülü verilecek.

Bu yıl yapılacak Kimya Ar-GE Proje Pazarı yarışması ve

ödül töreni hakkında değerlendirmede bulunan İKMİB

Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Adil Pelister, “İKMİB olarak, 2011

yılından beri düzenlediğimiz “Kimya Ar-Ge Proje Pazarı”

etkinliğimizin bu yıl 9’uncusunu gerçekleştireceğiz. Nisan

ayında yapmayı planladığımız etkinliği pandemi dolayısıyla

ertelemek durumunda kaldık. 9 Ekim 2020 tarihine kadar

uzattığımız başvurularımız tamamlandı.

cleaning products” and “basic chemicals”, 600 thousand TL

and additional a total of 700 thousand TL will be awarded

with a special prize of 100 thousand TL to be given to

commercialized projects.

competition to be held this year and the award ceremony,

hold the 9th of our “Chemical R&D Project Market” event

that we have been organizing since 2011. We had to

postpone the event we planned to do in April due to the

pandemic. Our applications, which we extended until

Expressing that there is a large participant group consisting

of academicians, industrialists, entrepreneurs, promoters

and students within the scope of the R&D Project

Market, Pelister said, “Our aim is to contribute to the

spread of R&D and innovation culture and to contribute

to high added value through university-industry-publicentrepreneur

cooperation. to increase valuable production

and therefore exports. We have received a total of 1,3

project applications in 8 years so far, and we have given

the project owners 1 million 156 thousand TL in cash.

We received applications in 6 different categories for

our “Chemistry R&D Project Market” event, which we will

organize for the 9th time this year. In each category; 50

thousand TL for the first, 30 thousand TL for the second

and 20 thousand TL for the third. In addition, in order to

contribute to the economy of our country in a short time,

we will give an additional award of 100 thousand TL in

total to all projects that have been commercialized in one

year among the awarded projects. Some of the awarded

projects have been commercialized and important success

stories have emerged. Development work continues for

many of them. I believe that it is necessary to be active in

university-industry cooperation in order to become a brand

and to produce high added value. For this reason, we try

to support both our students and professionals with our

R&D Project Market activity organized by IKMIB and we

bring new products and projects to our sector. Thus, we

oluşan geniş bir katılımcı kitlesinin olduğunu dile getiren

Pelister, “Amacımız, Ar-Ge ve inovasyon kültürünün

yaygınlaşmasına katkıda bulunmak ve üniversite-sanayikamu-girişimci

iş birliği ile yüksek katma değerli üretimi

ve dolayısıyla ihracatı artırmak. Bugüne kadar 8 yılda

toplamda bin 3 proje başvurusu aldık ve proje sahiplerine

1 milyon 156 bin TL nakdi ödül verdik. Bu yıl 9’uncu kez

düzenleyeceğimiz “Kimya Ar-Ge Proje Pazarı” etkinliğimiz

için 6 ayrı kategoride başvuru aldık. Her kategoride;

birinciye 50 bin TL, ikinciye 30 bin TL ve üçüncüye 20 bin

TL ödül vereceğiz. Ayrıca, ülke ekonomimize kısa zamanda

katkı sağlayabilmesi adına, ödül alan projelerden bir yıl

içinde ticarileşmiş olan tüm projelere toplamda 100 bin

TL ilave ödül vereceğiz. Şimdiye kadar ödül alan projeler

içinden bir kısmı ticarileşti ve önemli başarı hikâyeleri

ortaya çıktı. Birçoğu için geliştirme çalışmaları da

devam ediyor. Marka olabilmek ve yüksek katma değerli

üretim yapabilmek için üniversite-sanayi iş birliğinde

etkin olmak gerektiğine inanıyorum. Bu nedenle İKMİB

olarak düzenlediğimiz Ar-Ge Proje Pazarı ekinliğimiz

ile hem öğrencilerimize hem profesyonellere destek

olmaya çalışıyor ve sektörümüze de yeni ürünler, projeler

kazandırıyoruz. Böylece sektörümüzün gelişimine önemli

katkı sağlıyoruz” değerlendirmesini yaptı.

The Turkish Society of Cardiology launched the

“Use Heart to Beat Cardiovascular Diseases”

campaign on September 29, World Heart Day.

Noting that nearly half of the patients who

had a heart attack during the pandemic period

did not apply to the hospital, Prof. Dr. Mustafa

Kemal Erol, President of the Turkish Society of

Cardiology, said, “We ask our citizens who have

widespread burning and compressing pain in the

middle of the chest for more than five minutes

and who show other heart attack symptoms,

immediately call 112 ambulances and ask for

help. Do not risk your life for fear of catching

COVID-19, let’s not waste time worth of gold for

treatment.”

Almost half of all deaths in the world are due to causes

related to cardiovascular diseases. Despite this important

risk, it is possible to prevent the development of

cardiovascular diseases by keeping risk factors such as

smoking, unhealthy diet and inactivity under control.

September 29, which is determined by the World Heart

Federation, is accepted as the World Heart Day every year

in the world and within the scope of this day, awareness

studies are carried out on cardiovascular diseases all over

the world.

ağrı yaşayan ve diğer kalp krizi belirtilerini

gösteren vatandaşlarımızdan, hemen 112

ambulansı arayıp yardım istemelerini rica

ediyoruz. COVID-19 kaparım korkusu ile hayatınızı

riske atmayın, tedavi için altın değerinde olan

vakti kaybetmeyelim” diye konuştu.

Dünyada tüm ölümlerin yarıya yakını kalp ve damar

hastalıklarına bağlı sebeplerden ötürü gerçekleşiyor. Bu

önemli riske rağmen sigara kullanımı, sağlıksız beslenme

ve hareketsizlik gibi risk faktörlerini kontrol altında tutup

kalp ve damar hastalıklarının gelişimini önlemek mümkün.

Dünya Kalp Federasyonu tarafından belirlenen 29 Eylül

günü her yıl tüm dünyada Dünya Kalp Günü olarak kabul

ediliyor ve bu gün kapsamında tüm dünyada kalp ve damar

hastalıklarına yönelik farkındalık çalışmaları yapılıyor.

hastalıklarında farkındalığın önemini daha da

artırdı

2020 Dünya Kalp Günü kapsamında bu yıl yapılacak

farkındalık çalışmalarına dair bilgiler Türk Kardiyoloji

Derneği Başkanı Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Erol’un ev

sahipliğinde ve Türk Kardiyoloji Derneği Yönetim Kurulu

üyelerinin de katıldığı basın toplantısında kamuoyuna

açıklandı. Toplantıda açıklamalarda bulunan Türk

Kardiyoloji Derneği Başkanı Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal

Erol, “Mesleki ve toplumsal eğitimi ve araştırmaları

destekleyerek Türk halkının ƒ sağlığını korumayı temel

amaç olarak benimseyen Türk Kardiyoloji Derneği olarak

her yıl 29 Eylül’de çeşitli aktiviteler ile halkımızın kalp

damar hastalıkları konusunda bilinçlendirilmesi için

çalışıyoruz. 2020 yılı, maalesef COVID-19 pandemisi

nedeniyle özel bir yıl oldu. COVID-19 salgını döneminde kalp

ve damar hastalıklarının önemi daha da arttı. Bu nedenle

özellikle salgın döneminde ciddiyetini koruyan kalp damar

sağlığı risklerine karşı vatandaşlarımızı bilinçlendirmeyi en

önemli görevimiz olarak görüyoruz” diye konuştu.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Erol, the

President of the Turkish Society of Cardiology, said, “As the

Turkish Society of Cardiology, which adopts protecting the

cardiovascular health of the Turkish people as the main

goal by supporting vocational and social education and

research, we work to raise awareness of our people about

cardiovascular diseases with various activities every year

on September 29. Unfortunately, 2020 has been a special

year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the COVID-19

pandemic, the importance of cardiovascular diseases

increased even more. For this reason, we consider it our

most important duty to raise awareness of our citizens

against cardiovascular health risks, which are especially

serious during the epidemic period.”

Almost half of patients who have a heart attack

during the pandemic period do not go to the

hospital

Stating that the TURKMI-II study conducted by the Turkish

Society of Cardiology throughout the country revealed

that there was a significant decrease in the number of

heart attack patients admitted to the hospital throughout

the country during the pandemic period, Prof. Dr. Mustafa

Kemal Erol, said, “According to the findings of the TURKMI-

II Study, there is a 47.1 percent decrease in the number

of patients admitted to the hospital due to heart attack

during the pandemic period compared to the TURKMI-I

study conducted in the previous period. While this rate is

32 percent in severe forms of heart attack, it is 56 percent

in lighter forms. This study data shows that almost half of

the patients who had a heart attack during the pandemic

did not go to the hospital.”

Pandemi döneminde kalp krizi geçiren hastaların

neredeyse yarısı hastaneye gitmiyor

Türk Kardiyoloji Derneği tarafından ülke genelinde yapılan

TURKMI-II çalışmasının pandemi döneminde ülke genelinde

hastaneye başvuran kalp krizi hastalarının sayısında

anlamlı sayıda azalma olduğunu ortaya koyduğunu

söyleyen Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Erol, “TURKMI-II

Çalışması’nın bulgularına göre pandemi döneminde kalp

krizi gerekçesiyle hastaneye başvuran hastaların sayısında

pandemi önceki dönemde yapılan TURKMI-I çalışmasına

kıyasla yüzde 47,1 oranında azalma bulunuyor. Bu oran

kalp krizinin ağır formlarında yüzde 32 iken daha hafif

formlarında yüzde 56 olarak gerçekleşmiş bulunuyor. Bu

çalışma verileri, pandemi döneminde kalp krizi geçiren

hastaların neredeyse yarısının hastaneye başvurmadığını

gösteriyor” dedi.

Tedavide altın değerindeki süre kaybedilmemeli

Kalp krizinin ağır formunda özellikle ilk saatlerin kritik

öneme sahip olduğunu vurgulayan Prof. Dr. Mustafa

Kemal Erol, damarın süratle açılması gereken ilk birkaç

saatlik sürede hastaların yaklaşık üçte birinin hastaneye

hiç gelmediğinin altını çizdi. Türkiye’de hasta şikayetlerinin

başladığı andan itibaren 112 Acil’in aranmasına kadar

geçen sürenin, pandemi öncesinde ortalama 53 dakika

iken pandemi döneminde 90 dakikaya kadar çıktığına

dikkat çeken Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Erol, “Hastaların

COVID-19 bulaşması korkusu ile 112’yi aramadıklarını ya

da aramakta geç kaldıklarını görüyoruz. Oysa ambulansın

ulaşması, hastanın hastaneye nakli ve hastanede hastanın

kateter laboratuvarına alınıp damarının açılması için geçen

süreler değişmiyor. Ambulansın zamanında çağırılmaması

nedeniyle tedavide altın değerindeki zaman kaybediliyor.

Bu nedenle hastaneye ulaşamadan evlerinde kaybettiğimiz

hastalarımız da oluyor” dedi.

Gold worth of time should not be lost in treatment

Emphasizing that especially the first hours are critical in the

severe form of heart attack, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Erol

underlined that in the first few hours when the vein had to

be opened quickly, approximately one third of the patients

never came to the hospital. Pointing out that the time from

the beginning of the patient complaints to the call of the 112

Emergency was 53 minutes on average before the pandemic,

but up to 90 minutes during the pandemic period in Turkey,

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Erol, said, “We see that patients

do not call 112 or are late to call for fear of COVID-19

transmission. However, the time it takes for the ambulance to

arrive, the patient to be transferred to the hospital and the

patient to be taken to the catheter laboratory in the hospital

and to open the vein do not change. Due to the fact that the

ambulance is not called on time, time worth of gold is lost in

treatment. For this reason, we also have patients that we lost

at home before reaching the hospital.”

Do not risk your life for fear of getting COVID-19,

call 112

Speaking about the importance of heart attack risk from the

pandemic period, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Erol, President of

the Turkish Society of Cardiology, made a call to the public:

“In heart attack, after plaque ruptures in the vessels that

feed the heart, which we call coronary arteries, a sudden

blockage occurs with clot settling on it, the heart muscle in

the area fed by the occluded vessel starts to die within 20

minutes and dies completely within 12 hours. Muscle death

occurs very quickly and in high amounts, especially in the first

1-2 hours. For this reason, the patient whose heart attack

symptoms have started should be transported to the nearest

center that can perform coronary angiography by ambulance

by calling 112, and the vessel should be opened as soon as

possible. We ask our citizens who experience widespread

burning and compressing pain in the middle of the chest for

more than five minutes and who show other heart attack

symptoms, immediately call 112 ambulances and seek help.

Do not wait for it to pass, do not risk your life for fear of

contracting COVID-19, do not spend your golden hours

outside the hospital.”

Sudden shortness of breath and chest pain may be

signs of a heart attack

Reminding that the pain of a heart attack can be anywhere

between the lower jaw and the stomach area, Prof. Dr.

Mustafa Kemal Erol made the following statements,

“Although the pain is most often in the tie area under the

sternum bone, which we call the faith board, it can also be

in the back, stomach area, arms, especially the left arm.

Patients with pain, sudden shortness of breath or fainting in

these areas should be directed to the hospital by ambulance

without wasting time. Let’s not spend our golden hours at

home for fear of getting COVID-19. As long as the mask,

distance and cleaning rule are followed, we can be protected

from COVID-19. We don’t know exactly how the pandemic

will follow in the future, but we now know that protecting

our hearts is more important than ever. In addition to the

efforts of healthcare professionals, our citizens’ compliance

with social responsibility, masks, distance, and the application

damarlarda plak yırtılması sonrası üzerine pıhtı oturması

ile ani tıkanma meydana geliyor, tıkanan damarın beslediği

bölgede kalp kası 20 dakika içerisinde ölmeye başlıyor ve

12 saat içinde tamamen ölüyor. Kas ölümü özellikle ilk 1-2

saatte çok hızlı ve yüksek miktarda oluyor. Bu nedenle kalp

krizi belirtileri başlayan hastanın süratle 112’yi arayarak

ambulans ile en yakın koroner anjiyo yapabilecek merkeze

nakledilip, damarının bir an önce açılması gerekiyor.

Göğüs ortasında beş dakikadan uzun süre yaygın yanıcı

ve sıkıştırıcı ağrı yaşayan ve diğer kalp krizi belirtilerini

gösteren vatandaşlarımızdan, hemen 112 ambulansı arayıp

yardım istemelerini rica ediyoruz. Geçer diye beklemeyin,

COVID-19 kaparım korkusu ile hayatınızı riske atmayın, altın

saatlerinizi hastane dışında geçirmeyin.”

Ani gelişen nefes darlığı ve göğüs ağrısı kalp krizi

belirtisi olabilir

Kalp krizi ağrısının alt çene ile mide bölgesi arasında

herhangi bir yerde olabileceğini hatırlatan Prof. Dr. Mustafa

Kemal Erol, şu ifadeleri kullandı: “Ağrı, en sık şekilde iman

tahtası dediğimiz sternum kemiği altında kravat bölgesinde

olmakla birlikte, sırtta, mide bölgesinde, kollarda özellikle

sol kolda da olabilir. Bu bölgelerde ağrısı, ani gelişen nefes

darlığı veya bayılması olan hastaların vakit kaybetmeden

ambulans ile hastaneye yönlendirilmeleri gerekiyor.

COVID-19 kaparım korkusu ile altın saatlerimizi evde

geçirmeyelim. Maske, mesafe, temizlik kuralına uyulduğu

sürece COVID-19’dan korunabiliriz. Pandeminin gelecekte

nasıl bir yol izleyeceğini tam olarak bilemiyoruz, ancak şu

anda kalplerimizi korumanın her zamankinden daha önemli

olduğunu biliyoruz. Sağlık çalışanlarının gayreti yanında

vatandaşlarımızın da toplumsal sorumluluğa uyması;

maske, mesafe, temizlik kurallarının tatbiki bu pandemiyi

yenmede ana silahımızdır.”

Dünya Kalp Federasyonu tarafından her yıl 29 Eylül Dünya

Kalp Gününde kalp damar sağlığına yönelik yeni bir slogan

belirlendiğini hatırlatan Türk Kardiyoloji Derneği Başkanı

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Erol, “Bu yılın sloganı ‘Kalp Damar

Hastalıklarını Yenmek İçin Kalbi Kullan’ olarak belirlendi.

Hepimiz sağlıklı beslenerek, tütün kullanmayarak, egzersiz

yaparak, aşırı kilo almayarak, tansiyon, kolesterol ve

şekerimizi kontrol ederek çocuklarımıza ve sevdiklerimize

iyi örnek olarak kalplerimizi koruyabiliriz. Pandemi

döneminde karantinalar hareketsizlik ve kötü beslenmeye,

kontrolsüz kilo almaya yol açmasın. Pandemide kalp damar

hastalıklarından korunmayı ihmal etmeyelim. Kalp damar

hastalıklarının dünyada birinci ölüm sebebi olduğunu

unutmayalım.

Mobilization of “Use Heart to Beat Cardiovascular

Diseases” on World Heart Day

Reminding that a new slogan for cardiovascular health is

determined by the World Heart Federation every year on

September 29, World Heart Day, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal

Erol, said, “This year’s motto was” Use the Heart to Beat

Cardiovascular Diseases “. By eating healthy, not using tobacco,

exercising, not gaining excess weight, controlling our blood

pressure, cholesterol and sugar, we can protect our hearts as

good examples for our children and loved ones. During the

pandemic period, do not let quarantines lead to inactivity,

malnutrition and uncontrolled weight gain. Let’s not neglect

to be protected from cardiovascular diseases in the pandemic.

Let’s not forget that cardiovascular diseases are the leading

cause of death in the world.

In the days of quarantine during the pandemic period,

inactivity poses a risk for cardiovascular health, during this

period, let’s not disrupt our activity even at home, let’s not

increase the calories we take, let’s not gain excess weight,

let’s pay attention to our diet. Let’s not allow the negative

environment created by the pandemic to disrupt our

cardiovascular health.

Our activities to raise awareness of our people about

cardiovascular diseases have been continuing for years. One

of them is the “Don’t Stop the Heart Attack” project, which we

made in cooperation with Yandex last year and has provided

nearly 5.5 million views so far. With this project, people using

Yandex navigation are informed about the importance of

cardiovascular diseases, prevention methods and heart attacks

during traffic stops. We have planned to revive this successful

project by using TURKMI-II study data.”

dönemde ev içinde de olsa hareketimizi aksatmayalım,

aldığımız kaloriyi artırmayalım, aşırı kilo almayalım

diyetimize dikkat edelim. Pandeminin yarattığı olumsuz

ortamın kalp damar sağlığımızı bozmasına izin vermeyelim.

Halkımızı kalp damar hastalıkları hakkında bilinçlendirme

aktivitelerimiz yıllardır devam ediyor. Bunlardan biri de

geçen yıl Yandex iş birliği ile yaptığımız ve bugüne kadar

5.5 milyona yakın görüntülenme sağlayan ‘Kalp Krizi

DurAKSatmasın’ projesidir. Bu proje ile Yandex navigasyon

public. The report presents a roadmap for the work

Raporu” tıbbi onkoloji, göğüs hastalıkları,

göğüs cerrahisi, radyasyon onkolojisi, radyoloji,

nükleer tıp ve patoloji branşlarının yaklaşım ve

yöntemlerini, akciğer kanserinin tanı ve tedavisi

için birlikte çalışmaları bir araya getiriyor.

Raporda önerilen yaklaşımlar sayesinde akciğer

kanseri tedavisinde vakit kaybedilmeden daha

hızlı tanı ve doğru tedavi uygulamaları mümkün

olabilecek.

AstraZeneca Türkiye’nin koşulsuz desteği ile Türk Akciğer

Kanseri Derneği (TAKD) tarafından hazırlanan “Akciğer

Kanserinde Multidisipliner Yaklaşım Uzlaşı Raporu”

kamuoyuna açıklandı. Raporla, tüm dünyada en sık görülen

ve en çok ölüme sebep olan kanser türü olan akciğer

kanseri için tıbbi onkoloji, göğüs hastalıkları, göğüs

cerrahisi, radyasyon onkolojisi, radyoloji, nükleer tıp ve

patoloji branşlarının “ortak akılla” çalışmasına yönelik

bir yol haritası sunuluyor ve sunulan bu yol haritasıyla

akciğer kanseri hastalarının en hızlı şekilde tanı ve tedavi

çözümlerinden yararlanması amaçlanıyor.

Turkey among the first 10 countries in the

incidence of lung cancer

According to the data of the World Health Organization

(WHO), more than 2 million people (11.6 percent of all

cancers) are diagnosed with lung cancer per year as of

2018. Lung cancer ranks first among cancer-related deaths

with 22 percent among males, and ranks second after

breast cancer with 13.8 percent among females. Turkey

ranks ninth in the world rankings with 36.9 per hundred

thousand in the incidence of lung cancer in men after

Hungary and Serbia are in third place in the world with 70.6

per hundred thousand1.

Multidisciplinary approach saves lives

“Multidisciplinary Approach Consensus Report to Lung

Cancer”, Prof. Dr. Erdem Göker, Chairman, Turkish Lung

Cancer Society (TAKD), explained the reason for the

preparation of the report with the following words, “Lung

cancer is the most common type of cancer in our country

where patients are evaluated by many branches from the

first diagnosis to the last treatment. The management of

this disease from the beginning to the end, the decision of

the multidisciplinary team on the staging and treatment

of the patients are the most important factors in meeting

the correct treatment. We prepared this important report

in order to emphasize that every stage of this journey of

the patient should be handled with similar care and with

which methods, and to raise awareness among healthcare

professionals and society in all branches dealing with this

disease.”

Loss of time in diagnosis and treatment will be

prevented with a multidisciplinary road map

Pointing out that the report is a roadmap for excellence

in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, Prof. Dr.

Erdem Göker stated that the way to perfection in lung

cancer treatment is through the collaboration of experts

from different branches. Stating that they prioritize a

diagnosis and treatment consensus among seven different

branches in the report, Prof. Dr. Erdem Göker said, “Rather

than letting patients visit their physicians individually, we

aim for physicians from all branches to discuss and find the

right one for each patient by negotiating and negotiating

together. We believe that even if the diagnosis and

treatment follow-up of the patient is fully compatible with

standard approaches, fulfilling this standard with the joint

decision of different branches will contribute to both the

patient and all the physicians concerned. With the methods

and approaches we suggest in our report, we will not

waste time in diagnosis and treatment thanks to the work

of disciplines with a common mind for the diagnosis and

treatment of lung cancer. In addition, faster diagnosis and

correct treatment can be applied.”

Türkiye akciğer kanseri görülme sıklığında ilk 10

ülke arasında

Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (DSÖ) verilerine göre 2018 yılı itibariyle

yıl içinde 2 milyondan fazla kişiye (tüm kanserlerin yüzde

11,6’sı) akciğer kanseri tanısı konuyor. Ölüm nedeni

sıklığında, kanser nedeniyle gerçekleşen ölümler arasında

erkeklerde yüzde 22 ile birinci olan akciğer kanseri

kadınlarda yüzde 13,8 ile meme kanserinin ardından ikinci

sırada yer alıyor. Türkiye akciğer kanserinin görülme

sıklığında yüz binde 36,9 ile dünya sıralamasında dokuzuncu

sırada yer alırken, erkeklerde yüz binde 70,6 ile Macaristan

ve Sırbistan’ın ardından dünyada üçüncü sırada yer alıyor1.

Multidisipliner yaklaşım hayat kurtarıyor

“Akciğer Kanserinde Multidisipliner Yaklaşım Uzlaşı

Raporu” basın toplantısında değerlendirmelerde bulunan

Türk Akciğer Kanseri Derneği Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı

Prof. Dr. Erdem Göker, raporun hazırlanma gerekçesini

şu sözlerle açıkladı: “Akciğer kanseri, hastaların ilk

tanı anından son tedaviye kadar birçok branş tarafından

değerlendirildiği ve ülkemizde en çok görülen kanser

türü. Bu hastalığın başından sonuna doğru yönetilmesi,

hastaların evreleme ve tedavisine multidisipliner takımın

karar vermesi hastaların doğru tedavi ile buluşmasındaki

en önemli faktör. Hastanın bu yolculuğunun her

aşamasının benzer titizlikle ve hangi yöntemlerle ele

alınması gerektiğini vurgulamak ve bu hastalıkla uğraşan

tüm branşlardaki sağlık çalışanları ve toplum nezdinde

farkındalığı artırmak amacıyla bu önemli raporu hazırladık.”

Multidisipliner yol haritasıyla tanı ve tedavide

vakit kaybı önlenecek

Raporun akciğer kanserinin tanı ve tedavisinde

mükemmeliyete ulaşması için bir yol haritası niteliğinde

olduğunu vurgulayan Prof. Dr. Erdem Göker, akciğer

kanseri tedavisinde mükemmeliyetin yolunun farklı

branşlardan uzmanların birlikte çalışmasından geçtiğini

ifade etti. Raporda yedi farklı branş arasında bir tanı ve

tedavi uzlaşısı sağlanmasına öncelik verdiklerini aktaran

her hekimin, hastanın tanı ve tedavi izlemi standart

yaklaşımlarla tam uyumlu olsa bile, değişik branşların

ortak kararı ile bu standardı yerine getirmelerinin hem

hastaya hem de ilgili tüm hekimlere katkısının büyük

olacağını düşünüyoruz. Raporumuzda önerdiğimiz yöntem

ve yaklaşımlarla akciğer kanserinin teşhis ve tedavisi için

disiplinlerin ortak bir akılla çalışmaları sayesinde tanı ve

tedavide vakit kaybedilmeyecek. Ayrıca daha hızlı teşhis ve

doğru tedavi uygulanabilecek” diye konuştu.

Interdisciplinary approach will also provide cost

advantage

Drawing attention to the economic burden of lung cancer,

Prof. Dr. Erdem Göker, said, “According to the Report

of Lung Cancer in Turkey announced in 2018, the total

economic burden of lung cancer to our country is around

8.8 billion TL. With the inclusion of indirect costs, we see

that the average cost per patient of lung cancer is 175,838

TL2. We have to express that indirect costs in lung cancer

have a significant share in the total economic burden.

Therefore, the interdisciplinary approach in our report aims

to increase the success rate of lung cancer treatment, but

will also be beneficial in terms of cost.”

Lung Cancer Treatments Continued amid

COVID-19 outbreak

It appears that the COVID-19 outbreak affects patients

with lung cancer as well as all patients. Experts point

out that cancer diagnosis rates have decreased with the

epidemic, while more than 40 percent of physicians in the

EU country, five countries and the USA anticipate delays in

the diagnosis of lung cancer. More than 70 percent of the

relevant physicians expect delays in biopsy and planned

treatments3. Emphasizing that the delays that may be

experienced due to the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as

the accelerated digitalization during the epidemic period,

offers various advantages to bring different disciplines

together, Prof. Dr. Erdem Göker, Chairman of TAKD, said,

“Thanks to the councils held on digital platforms, the

diagnosis and treatment decisions of all our patients were

made with the joint decisions of all areas of specialization.

Both chemotherapy and targeted therapies and

immunotherapy were applied successfully.”

Akciğer Kanseri Tedavileri COVID-19 salgınında

da devam etti

COVID-19 salgınının tüm hastaların yanı sıra akciğer

kanserli hastaları da etkilediği görülüyor. Uzmanlar kanser

tanı oranlarının salgınla birlikte düşüş yaşadığına dikkat

çekerken, AB ülkesi beş ülke ve ABD’deki hekimlerin yüzde

40’ından fazlası akciğer kanseri tanısında gecikmelerin

yaşanmasını öngörüyor. İlgili hekimlerin yüzde 70’inden

fazlası ise biyopsi ve planlı tedavilerde gecikmelerin

yaşanmasını bekliyor3. COVID-19 salgını nedeniyle

yaşanılabilen gecikmelerin yanı sıra salgın döneminde

hızlanan dijitalleşmenin farklı disiplinlerin bir araya

getirilmesi için çeşitli avantajlar sunduğunu vurgulayan

New Solutions for Bowel Management Provides an

Efficient Infection Control

Bağırsak Yönetiminde Yeni Çözümler Etkin Enfeksiyon Kontrolü Sağlıyor

Fecal incontinence (problem of bowel

management) exposes patients and healthcare

staff to the risk of infection, and negatively

affects them for physical and psychological

aspects. The new generation bowel management

systems developed for this condition which has

quite forcing effects on patient care quality

provides patient comfort, relieves work load

of healthcare staff, and ensures an efficient

infection control.

Fecal incontinence (bowel control problem) is one of the

basic problems that healthcare providers experience,

and affects a gradually increasing number of advanced

age patients and intensive care patients today. Fecal

incontinence is a condition that negatively affects

the individuals as well as healthcare service providers

physically, socially and psychologically; this condition causes

an economic burden to the healthcare system as one of the

sources of nosocomial infections.

Fecal incontinence has quite forcing effects on the quality

of life; it is also an important risk factor for compression

ulcers and secondary skin infections. This condition also

exposes the individual and healthcare providers to many

other potential hazards and problems. Especially the

spread of nosocomial infections caused by C. difficile

which is common in elder patients who need long term

care is one of the main problems. Dermatitis due to fecal

incontinence developed as a result of long-term contact

of the skin and feces affects the quality of life and health

status of the individual negatively; it also causes economic

losses by increase of the need for care and treatment.

There are many products used in patients with fecal

incontinence such as absorbable continence products/

adult diaper and perianal tubes/bags to collect the feces,

and to prevent the contact of feces with perianal skin.

However, these products may be insufficient to prevent

complications and to provide individual comfort of the

patient.

New solutions ensure comfort to the patient and

reproductivity to the healthcare worker

The new generation bowel management systems

developed to implement a structured standard care

to manage the fecal incontinence ensures an efficient

infection control, and provides physical and psychological

comfort for the patient. All these facilitate work routine of

healthcare staff who provide care support.

These new products called bowel management systems

with closed system design allow improvement of quality

of life and care services. Such solutions which are

especially used for bedridden patients ensure discharge

and collection liquid or semi-liquid feces through odor

preventing features, and successful administration of

rectal drugs. With these solutions that allow all procedures

to be carried out effectively without disconnecting the

injector connections through their connector technology

compatible ports, drug leakage may be prevented and

contributes to the success of the treatment.

the locomotive,

reshaped the products exported by the changing demands

in order to achieve the level of pre-pandemic exports.

Korkut Koray Yalça, CEO of ISD Logistics, one of the logistics

companies specialized in textile transportation, gave

information about textile exports which changed shape

after the corona virus. Yalça explained that they usually

export hanging textile products abroad before March, and

that after the pandemic, the demand for roll materials such

as fabric or fabric carried in parcels increased.

“Mask export increased approximately 12 fold”

Emphasizing that masks and protective clothing stand out

among them, Yalça said, “According to the data of Istanbul

Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters Association (IHKIB),

exports of medical masks, cloth masks and protective

clothing increased by approximately 12 times in January-

September compared to the same period of the previous

year and amounted to 3 million dollars. In this period, the

export of non-woven fabrics used in the production of

masks and protective equipment reached 520.4 million

dollars with an increase of 17 percent according to the

data of Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Association

(ITKIB).”

Recalling that the number of cases in European countries

has increased again, Yalça stated that in the coming days,

the need for products such as masks and protective

clothing and textile materials used in their manufacture

may increase.

Stating that as ISD Logistics, they carry out quality control

processes before shipping textile products, Yalça added

that they employ personnel who are experts in textile for

this purpose.

Türkiye’den yurt dışına genellikle askılı tekstil ürünleri

taşıdıklarını korona sonrası ise maske ve koruyucu giysi

talebinin arttığını, Ocak-Eylül aylarında bu ürün gruplarının

ihracatının 1,5 milyar doları aştığını belirtti.

Türkiye’nin lokomotif sektörlerinden tekstil, ihracatta

pandemi öncesi seviyeleri yakalayabilmek için değişen

ürünleri taşıdıklarını, pandemi sonrasında ise koli içinde

taşınan veya kumaş gibi rulo malzemelere talebin arttığını

anlattı.

“Maske ihracatı yaklaşık 12 kat arttı”

Bunlar arasında maske ve koruyucu giysilerin öne çıktığını

vurgulayan Yalça, şunları kaydetti: “İstanbul Hazır Giyim

ve Konfeksiyon İhracatçıları Birliği (İHKİB) verilerine göre

tıbbi maske, bez maske ve koruyucu giysi ihracatı Ocak-

Eylül aylarında geçen yılın aynı dönemine göre yaklaşık 12

kat artarak 994,3 milyon doları buldu. Bu dönemde maske

ve koruyucu ekipman imalatında kullanılan dokunmamış

kumaş ihracatı da İstanbul Tekstil ve Konfeksiyon İhracatçı

Birlikleri (İTKİB) verilerine göre yüzde 17’lik yükselişle 520,4

milyon dolar oldu.”

Yalça, Avrupa ülkelerinde vaka sayılarının tekrar artışa

geçtiğini hatırlatarak önümüzdeki günlerde maske ve

koruyucu giysi gibi ürünlerle bunların imalatında kullanılan

tekstil malzemelerine ihtiyacın artabileceğini dile getirdi.

ISD Logistics olarak tekstil ürünlerinin taşımadan önce

CARE (Corona Accelerated R&D in Europe) a new

consortium supported by the Innovative Medicines

Initiative (IMI) public-private partnership announced its

launch today to accelerate the discovery and development

of urgently needed medicines to treat SARS-CoV-2, the

virus that causes COVID-19. With a grant totaling € 77.7

million, CARE is funded by cash contributions from the

European Union (EU) and cash and in-kind contributions

from eleven European Federation of Pharmaceutical

Industries and Associations (EFPIA) companies and three

IMI-Associated Partners. CARE is a five-year project

bringing together 37 partners from Belgium, China,

Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland,

Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US, and is led by VRI-

Inserm (French National Institute of Health and Medical

Research, Paris, France), Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, one

of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson &

Johnson (Beerse, Belgium), and Takeda Pharmaceuticals

International AG, (Zurich, Switzerland). It integrates

partners’ COVID-19 projects ongoing since February 2020.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has emerged as the largest

global health threat to humanity in this century,

requiring the global scientific community to join forces in

unprecedented ways,” said Professor Yves Lévy, Executive

Director of the VRI-Inserm and CARE coordinator. “Beyond

the scientific excellence of the different teams involved in

this very ambitious project, CARE is bringing together 37

partners in an alliance pooling their expertise and knowhow

around an ambitious five-year work plan to develop

therapeutics against the current COVID-19 pandemic. We

are very grateful for the financial support provided by

the Innovative Medicine Initiative that will enable us to

implement this plan.”

With no licensed vaccines and only limited therapy options

against COVID-19, the pandemic is ongoing, counting more

cases and deaths every day. Uniting some of the most

innovative and experienced scientists from all relevant

areas in a unique collaborative spirit CARE will maximize

synergies and complementarities with other initiatives such

as the Gates Foundation-supported COVID-19 Therapeutics

Accelerator, MANCO1, SCORE2, and the ECRAID3 network,

to accelerate the path to providing solutions for the

current COVID-19 pandemic as well as future coronavirus

outbreaks. After testing in the laboratory, the project will

advance the most promising drug candidates to clinical

trials in humans.

Comprehensive short- and long-term response to

COVID-19

CARE aims to create effective therapies with a positive

safety profile for the COVID-19 pandemic (drug

repositioning), and develop new drugs and antibodies

specially designed to tackle the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The consortium builds on three pillars:

• Drug repositioning, by screening and profiling compound

libraries contributed by partners with the aim of rapidly

progressing molecules to advanced stages of clinical

testing.

• Small-molecule drug discovery based on in silico screening

and profiling of candidate compounds directed against

SARS-CoV-2 and future coronavirus targets.

• Virus neutralizing antibody discovery using fully human

phage and yeast display, immunisation of humanised animal

models, patient B cells and in silico design.

Closely integrated with these pillars are work streams

focusing on the refinement of candidate compounds

through a comprehensive medicinal chemistry campaign,

systems biology research and pre-clinical and clinical

evaluation of molecules from all three pillars. The

systems biology work package will investigate the viral

pathophysiology to increase our understanding of the

interplay between virus infection stages and human

immune responses. It will identify disease markers, to

inform therapy development and improve clinical trial

design and monitoring of Phase 1 and 2 trials investigating

new therapeutics developed by CARE.

COVID-19’a kapsamlı kısa ve uzun vadeli yanıt

Konsorsiyum, çalışmalarını üç eksende yürütüyor:

• Molekülleri klinik testlerin gelişmiş aşamalarına hızla

ilerletmek amacıyla ortaklar tarafından sağlanan bileşik

Domestic Initiative to

Detect Pregnancy Risks with Early Diagnosis Kit

Yerli Girişim, Gebelikteki Riskleri Erken Tanı Kiti ile Tespit Edecek

Worldwide, there are 15 million preterm births

every year; premature birth is among the most

common causes of neonatal death. The domestic

biotechnology initiative, which started working

to prevent this situation, developed an early

diagnosis kit that predicts the risks in pregnancy.

According to the Microbiome and Preterm Birth research

published in Nature magazine, one of the leading

publications of the scientific world, approximately 15

million preterm births occur every year before 37 weeks

of gestation worldwide. It is seen that the prevalence

of preterm birth exceeds 10% worldwide. The research

also reveals that microbiome analysis can benefit the

prediction of preterm birth risk. This proposition in the

field of biotechnology by carrying voice came from Turkey,

an important move as well. Özkan Ufuk Nalbantoğlu, CTO

of the local biotechnology initiative ENBIOSIS, stated

that kits that accurately detect the risk of preterm birth

with microbiome samples taken in the first 3 months of

pregnancy have been developed and that they will be put

into use upon the conclusion of clinical studies conducted

in three different centers.

genelinde %10’u aştığı görülüyor. Araştırma, mikrobiyom

analiziyle erken doğum riskinin önceden belirlenmesine

fayda sağlayabileceğini de ortaya koyuyor. Bu önerme

biyoteknoloji alanında ses getirirken Türkiye’den de önemli

bir hamle geldi. Yerli biyoteknoloji girişimi ENBIOSIS CTO’su

Özkan Ufuk Nalbantoğlu yaptığı açıklamada hamileliğin

ilk 3 ayında alınan mikrobiyom örnekleriyle erken doğum

riskini doğru bir şekilde tespit eden kitler geliştirildiklerini

detected in the first 3 months of pregnancy

Speaking about the details of the preterm birth diagnosis

kit, Özkan Ufuk Nalbantoğlu said, “Currently, we can

accurately detect the risk of preterm birth with the

microbiome samples taken in the first 3 months of

pregnancy. In clinical studies conducted by ENBIOSIS in

three different centers, we are at the stage of testing this

technology in the field. At the same time, we continue

to use diagnostic technologies that can predict other

pregnancy risks through these clinical studies. Thanks

to the newly developed technology, many risks can be

predicted in the early stages of pregnancy by analyzing

microbial DNA on only one swab sample.”

Preterm birth is the second most common cause

of neonatal death

Stating that early detection of risks and preventing

them with proper health management during pregnancy

is of great importance for maternal and child health,

Nalbantoğlu, said, “While premature birth is the second

most common cause of neonatal death worldwide, it is

the most common cause of infant deaths in middle and

high income economies. It appears as. Heart diseases,

neurological problems, intestinal diseases and many other

chronic problems that can be brought with by preterm

birth can continue from early childhood to adolescence

and adulthood. New scientific developments show that

the maternal microbiome undergoes various changes

during pregnancy, and these differentiations give

important signals about health problems that may arise

during pregnancy. In other words, it is possible to reveal

many risks that will adversely affect maternal and child

health, such as the high risk of preterm birth, gestational

diabetes, gestational hypertension at the beginning of the

pregnancy process, with microbiome analysis.”

klinik çalışmalar üzerinden yürütmeye devam ediyoruz. Yeni

geliştirilen teknoloji sayesinde, yalnızca bir sürüntü örneği

belirten Özkan Ufuk Nalbantoğlu, “Erken doğum, dünya

genelinde en yaygın ikinci yenidoğan ölüm nedeni olurken

orta ve yüksek gelirli ekonomilerde bebek ölümlerinin en

yaygın nedeni olarak karşımıza çıkıyor. Erken doğumun

beraberinde getirebileceği kalp hastalıkları, nörolojik

problemler,bağırsak hastalıkları ve daha pek çok kronik

sorun, erken çocukluktan ergenliğe ve yetişkinliğe kadar

devam edebiliyor. Yeni bilimsel gelişmeler, hamilelik

sırasında anne mikrobiyomunun çeşitli değişimlerden

geçtiği ve bu farklılaşmaların hamilelik sürecinde ortaya

çıkabilecek sağlık problemleri hakkında önemli sinyaller

verdiğini gösteriyor. Yani aslında daha hamilelik sürecinin

başlarında erken doğum riskinin ne kadar yüksek olduğu,

gebelik diyabeti, gebelik dönemi yüksek tansiyonu gibi

anne ve çocuk sağlığını olumsuz etkileyecek birçok riskin

world has undoubtedly been the tourism sector, which is

called ‘Smokeless Industry’. The diversity of this area is of

great importance for the sector to develop further and to

increase the revenues. Among these sub-sectors, health

tourism, which enables tourism to spread to 12 months,

stands out. Köksal Holoğlu, President of Turkish Healthcare

Travel Council (THTC) and Chairman of Romatem Chain

of Hospitals, said, “While the epidemic causes great

losses in the tourism industry, our country’s fight against

coronavirus can be considered promising, especially in

terms of health tourism for the upcoming periods. Turkey

is already a world-class health care services, pricing policy,

this situation. According to the report, the number of

tourists decreased by 93 percent in June compared to

the same month last year. Due to Covid-19, the number

of international tourists decreased by 440 million people

in January-June and there was a loss of $ 460 billion in

revenue in global tourism. It was stated that the loss in

question was five times more than the income loss in

tourism in the global economic crisis in 2009.

standartlarında sağlık hizmetleri, fiyat politikası, konum

gibi sağladığı birçok avantaj ile dünyada önde gelen

turizmi 5 yılda yüzde 60 oranında artış yakaladı. Türkiye’nin

elde ettiği 6 milyar dolarlık rakamın 2020’de daha

yükseleceğini umuyorduk. Ancak nisan ayından itibaren her

şey durdu” dedi.

Dünyayı etkisi altına alan koronavirüs salgını küresel

çapta bir turizm krizine de sebep oldu. Birleşmiş Milletler

(BM) Dünya Turizm Örgütü, Kovid-19’un turizm sektörüne

etkilerine ilişkin raporu da bu durumu destekler nitelikte.

Rapora göre sadece Haziran’da geçen yılın aynı ayına göre

bu yıl turist sayıları yüzde 93 geriledi. Kovid-19 nedeniyle

ocak-haziran aylarında uluslararası turist sayısının 440

milyon kişi azaldığı ve küresel turizmde 460 milyar dolar

gelir kaybı yaşandı. Söz konusu kaybın ise 2009’daki küresel

ekonomik krizde turizmde yaşanan gelir kaybından beş kat

fazla olduğu belirtildi.

Safe tourism model stimulated the sector

Expressing that Turkey draws attention with ‘Safe

Tourism’ model and tries to minimize the loss caused by

the epidemic in the sector, Köksal Holoğlu, President of

Turkish Healthcare Travel Council (THTC) and Chairman

of Romatem Chain of Hospitals, said, “Factors such as

the measures taken in tourism and the success process in

the fight against coronavirus have provided a dynamism,

although not as in the past years. At the same time, it

contributes greatly to the diversity of this field in our

country. Health tourism is one of these areas. For example,

while the normal tourist leaves an average of 650 dollars,

the health tourist leaves 3-4 thousand dollars. This means

that the health tourist spends an average of 4 thousand

dollars. However, due to the impact of the pandemic, we

experienced a 70 percent decrease in health tourism in the

first 6 months of this year compared to the previous year.

Since March, this type of tourism has been realized at the

rate of 20 percent per month.”

ekonomiye büyük katkı sağlıyor. Sağlık turizmi de bu

alanlardan biri. Mesela Normal turist ortalama 650 dolar

bırakırken, sağlık turisti 3-4 bin dolar bırakıyor. Bu sağlık

turistinin ortalama 4 bin dolar harcaması demektir. Fakat

pandeminin etkisi nedeniyle sağlık turizminde geçtiğimiz yıl

ile kıyasladığımızda bu yılın ilk 6 ayında yüzde 70 oranında

bir düşüş yaşadık. Mart ayından itibaren ise bu turizm türü

aylık yüzde 20 oranlarında gerçekleşmektedir” ifadelerini

kullandı.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Gerek continued his words and said:

“Cistus Creticus is a plant known for its antioxidant

properties. The lozenges containing the extract of the

Cistus Creticus plant act against the virus by forming a

protective barrier layer in the mouth and pharynx surface.

This layer prevents viruses from passing through the

human cell wall, regardless of type. Thanks to this barrier,

it can have a protective effect against viral infections

regardless of the type of virus. Products containing Cistus

Creticus can help protect against viral infections during the

pandemic period”.

korunmaya katkı sağlayacağına inanıyorum” dedi.

The agreement covers the research, development,

manufacturing and commercialization of up to five

mRNA-based vaccines and MAbs targeting infectious

disease pathogens. The collaboration complements GSK’s

existing mRNA capabilities with CureVac’s integrated

mRNA platform. mRNA enables protein synthesis in the

human body, carrying the genetic code required for cells

to manufacture and express proteins. By using mRNA

technology in vaccines and medicines, specific proteins, or

antigens, can be produced by the body’s own cells, helping

the human immune system to fight or prevent disease.

GSK ve CureVac, enfeksiyon hastalığı patojenlerini

expertise on a number of development opportunities

across a range of infectious disease pathogens, “selected

with the potential to best leverage the advantages of this

platform technology, while addressing significant unmet

medical need and economic burden”.

GSK will fund R&D activities at CureVac related to the

development projects covered by the collaboration (which

don’t include the latter’s existing COVID-19 mRNA and

rabies vaccines research programmes). CureVac will be

responsible for the preclinical- and clinical-development

through Phase I trials of these projects, after which

GSK will be responsible for further development and

commercialisation.

“GSK’s self-amplifying mRNA (SAM) vaccine technology

has shown us the potential of mRNA technology to

advance the science of vaccine development, and

CureVac’s experience complements our own expertise,”

said Roger Connor, President GSK Vaccines. “Through the

application of mRNA technology, including SAM, we hope

to be able to develop and scale up advanced vaccines and

therapies to treat and prevent infectious diseases quicker

than ever before.”

“With this collaboration, we are gaining a world-class

partner whose expertise and global footprint will allow us

to further develop and translate the value of our platform

into potential products for the world,” noted Dr Franz-

Werner Haas, CureVac’s chief executive.

Under the terms of the deal, GSK will make an equity

investment in CureVac of £130 million, representing

close to a 10% stake, an upfront cash payment of £104

million and a one-time reimbursable payment of £26

million for manufacturing capacity reservation, on

certification of CureVac’s commercial scale manufacturing

facility currently being built in Germany. CureVac will be

responsible for the GMP manufacturing of the product

candidates, including for commercialisation, and will

retain commercialisation rights for selected countries for

all product candidates.

Kalkınma projeleriyle ilgili olarak CureVac’taki Ar-

Ge faaliyetlerini finanse edecek olan GSK, bu iş

birliği kapsamında, CureVac’a 130 milyon sterlin öz

sermaye yatırımı ve 104 milyon sterlin peşin ödeme

yapacak. CureVac ise, bu projelerin Faz 1 çalışmalar

sırasındaki klinik öncesi ve klinik gelişmeden sorumlu

olacak. Sonrasında ise GSK daha ileri geliştirme ve

ticarileştirmeden sorumlu olacak. CureVac, ticarileştirme

de dahil olmak üzere, ürün adaylarının GMP üretiminden

sorumlu olup tüm ürün adayları için seçilen ülkelerdeki

ticarileştirme haklarını koruyacak.

How does trans fat spoil our health?

Stating that there are 3.4 million people with heart

and vascular disease in Turkey in 2016, this number is

expected to reach 5.4 million by 2035, Assoc. Dr. Ayça

Boyacı, Member of Turkish Society of Cardiology Board of

Directors, emphasized that a healthy diet and lifestyle are

our most important weapons in combating cardiovascular

diseases. She said, “If a reduction in blood cholesterol is

aimed, the saturated fats in the diet should not be more

than 5-6% of the total calories, and a Mediterranean type

diet poor in meat and dairy products, rich in extra virgin

olive oil, vegetables, fruits, whole grains and legumes

should be preferred.”

President Assoc. Dr. Öner Özdoğan explained that high

LDL cholesterol would cause cardiovascular disease, and

if there was too much “LDL” cholesterol in the blood, it

could accumulate in the arterial walls. He pointed out that

trans fats disrupt the inner surface of the vasculature and

increase inflammation, and cholesterol-related vascular

deterioration can be seen from an early age.

Derneği in Turkish) Prof. Elif Dağlı said, “The World Health

Organization (WHO) has targeted the year 2023 to

eliminate industrial trans fats from the food supply chain

altogether. The European Union’s then brought a maximum

of 2 grams of trans fat restriction to 100 grams of fat in

foods for Turkey to be presented to the final consumer

and foods intended for retail sale. With the current label

regulation, protection from trans fats was left entirely

to the consumer’s responsibility. With the amendment

made in the Turkish Food Codex within the framework of

harmonization with the European Union, this responsibility

has been put on food business operators since January

2021. Food business operators supplying a food not

intended for the end consumer or mass consumption

places to other food business operators were exempted

from the trans fat restriction. Raw material suppliers will

inform the producers about the amount of trans fat in

the event that the amount of industrial trans fat in their

products exceeds 2 grams per 100 grams of oil.”

Dağlı said, “The first implementation towards the 2023

target of WHO begins in January 2021. Determining a

standard method for how to separate animal and industrial

trans fat and measuring industrial trans fat is important in

terms of auditing the conformity of the food produced. It

is also important to provide information on the amount of

trans fat in the product. It is also important to inform the

consumers about the amount of trans fat in the product.

Due to the consumption of more than one of the same

products or the consumption of different products at

the same time, the recommended daily limit can be easily

exceeded, so the consumer should also see the limited

amount of trans fat on the labels.”

de son tüketiciye sunulması amaçlanan gıdalarda ve

perakende satışa yönelik gıdalarda 100 gram yağ için

maksimum 2 gram trans yağ kısıtlaması getirdi. Mevcut

etiket düzenlemesiyle trans yağlardan korunma tamamen

tüketicinin sorumluluğuna bırakılmıştı. Türk Gıda

Kodeksi’nde Avrupa Birliği’ne uyum çerçevesinde yapılan

değişiklikle bu sorumluluk Ocak 2021’den itibaren gıda

işletmecilerine yükletilmiş oldu. Son tüketiciye veya toplu

tüketim yerlerine yönelik olmayan bir gıdayı diğer gıda

işletmecilerine arz eden gıda işletmecileri ise trans yağ

kısıtlamasından muaf tutuldu. Ham madde tedarikçileri,

ürünlerindeki endüstriyel trans yağ miktarı, 100 gram yağ

için 2 gramı aşması durumunda trans yağ miktarı hakkında

üreticileri bilgilendirecekler.” dedi.

Dağlı, “DSÖ’nün 2023 hedefine yönelik ilk uygulama Ocak

2021’de başlıyor. Hayvansal ve endüstriyel trans yağın

nasıl ayrıştırılacağına ve endüstriyel trans yağın ölçümüne

dair standart bir metot belirlenmesi, üretilen gıdaların

uygunluğunu denetlemek açısından önemlidir. Yeterliliği

bulunan laboratuvar sayısının az olması mevzuatın

uygulanması önünde bir engel olabilir. Her ilde analiz

yapılabilmesi için gerekli yatırımın gerçekleştirilmesi

gereklidir. Trans yağ miktarının üründe hangi miktarda

bulunduğuna dair bilgilendirme yapılmasının da önemlidir.

Aynı üründen birden fazla tüketilmesi veya farklı ürünlerin

aynı zamanda tüketilmesi nedeniyle kolayca önerilen

günlük limit üzerine çıkılabileceğini bu nedenle tüketicinin

etiketlerde kısıtlı trans yağ miktarını da görmesi gerekir”

diye belirtti.
