Caves are full of hazards and risks. Being aware of the hazards and taking appropriate measures

will decrease risks of accidents considerably. There are two methods to prevent accidents in a planned

way: Reactive measures and proactive measures. In order to prevent accidents, it is necessary to implement

both at the same time.

Reactive measures: Preventive measures are taken after an accident or incident has occurred.

Lessons should be taken out of the accidents and incidents, unsafe acts causing them should be determined

and the underlying reasons causing unsafe acts should be investigated.

Proactive measures: Preventive measures are taken before an accident or incident has occurred.

For this, the hazards of caving should be known, the risks should be determined and analysed and

preventive measures should be taken.
