8. Santi paneke samaṇabrāhmaṇā evaṁvādino evaṁdiṭṭhino:<br />

But there were some ascetics and brāhmaṇas who were of this argument, this<br />

view:<br />

“Asayaṁkāro aparaṁkāro adhiccasamuppanno attā ca loko ca<br />

“The self and the world are neither made by oneself nor by another, but have<br />

arisen fortuitously<br />

- idam-eva saccaṁ mogham-aññan”-ti.<br />

- this alone is the truth, (all) else is foolish.”<br />

9. Santi paneke samaṇabrāhmaṇā evaṁvādino evaṁdiṭṭhino:<br />

There were some ascetics and brāhmaṇas who were of this argument, this view:<br />

“Sassataṁ sukhadukkhaṁ attā ca loko ca<br />

“Pleasure and pain, the self and the world are eternal<br />

- idam-eva saccaṁ mogham-aññan”-ti.<br />

- this alone is the truth, (all) else is foolish.”<br />
