Here are some healthy movie time snacks that your
taste buds and your body will thank you for:
Did
you know?
Chili powder contains iron and
copper which are necessary
for making healthy red
blood cells, and can help
prevents anemia!
Healthy Chili and
Lime Popcorn
Do not limit your taste buds to salt and butter
popcorn. Experience something healthier,
lower in calories, and definitely delicious.
Put 5 tablespoons of popcorn in a
bowl with 4 tablespoons of water.
Squeeze half a lime and cover the
popcorn with another bowl, leaving
a small opening for the steam.
Place in the microwave for
3-5 mins on maximum power.
Top with chili powder and some
lime zest, and enjoy!
Baked Edamame
Spread some edamame
onto baking paper on an
oven tray, drizzle with one
tablespoon of olive oil and
put it in the oven at 190 C
degrees for 20 mins. Add
some sea salt and enjoy
your high-protein,
high-fiber, low-fat snack.
Dried Fruits
If you are craving sweet snacks then dried fruits can help! Fruits contain more fiber when
they are dried, and this helps keep your digestive system going smoothly. For example, a
fresh apricot contains 3.1 grams of fiber while a dried apricot contains 6.5g! According to
a study conducted by the Harvard School of Public Health, fiber can help prevent heart
disease, obesity, and even some forms of cancer. What’s more, a 2005 study published
in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition found that fruits like figs and dates
are high in phenols (a type of antioxidants), which are known to prevent cancer.
There are endless options when it comes
to healthy snacks, just get creative in
your kitchen with the help of nutritious
fruits and vegetables. Create your own
low fat dip—try homemade hummus with
cucumbers, or mashed avocados with
baby carrots! Replace fizzy drinks with a
banana and berry smoothie or a sugarfree
hot chocolate. Enjoy a healthier movie
night with the ones you love knowing that
you chose what is best for them.
