Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) (formerly Organization of the Islamic Conference) is the second largest inter-governmental organization after the<br />
United Nations with the membership of 57 states spread over four continents. In order to coordinate and unify the efforts in realizing the cooperation among<br />
the maritime companies within Member States, the Organization of the Islamic Shipowners’ Association (OISA) was established as an affiliated institution to the<br />
OIC in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2004, the idea of establishing Islamic P&I Club to provide liability cover for shipowners was proposed and approved<br />
by the OISA members and the Club was founded as a non-profit company in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.<br />
