NRBHSS executive director, Minnie Grey, and<br />

Avataq president, Charlie Arngak.<br />

<strong>Makivik</strong> vice-president, Johnny Peters,<br />

also spoke to the youth audience from the<br />

perspective of his many years of political and<br />

environmental service on behalf of the Inuit<br />

of Nunavik. Chair of the Amaujaq National<br />

Centre for Inuit Education, Mary Simon, gave a<br />

presentation on the National Strategy on Inuit<br />

Education where youth later were presented<br />

with an opportunity to voice out their concerns.<br />

One of the highlights of this summit was<br />

the Inuit Politics and Leadership Panel. In this<br />

panel, Inuit leaders discussed their path to<br />

becoming engaged in politics. They provided<br />

advice, inspiration and encouragement to the<br />

youth delegates.<br />

The Summit delegation voted on the location<br />

of the next National Inuit Youth Summit,<br />

which will be in Iqaluit in 2015.<br />

Elizabeth Annahatak sits as a Nunavik representative<br />

at the National Inuit Youth Council, the<br />

president of the Saputiit Youth Association, and<br />

<strong>Makivik</strong> board member representing the youth<br />

of Nunavik.<br />
