Our events have been impacted by this
unprecedented situation. When I launched the
inaugural summit back in 2013, I faced great
challenges as a start-up. Nothing, however, quite prepares
you for a situation where you have to let go of your last
squad members and contractors - not because they aren’t
delivering - but because it’s what’s needed to protect
the livelihood of everyone else through the storm. In a
matter of days our board meetings turned from discussing
adventurous growth to survival.
Here’s how our events are being shaped by this crisis;
• We’re not looking back. In 2019 we took the bold
decision to expand into Asia because the industry is
hungry for growth outside Europe’s saturated markets.
So I decided to stay in Manila and grow the team here.
We postponed our inaugural June 2020 show to May
2021, which essentially gives us an extra 11 months to
curate a kickass inaugural summit in Asia.
• It’s high time that we bring our two shows (SiGMA and
AIBC) closer together and allow both sides to learn from
one other. The two sides stand to benefit by having both
shows held together under one roof on the same dates.
• You can’t quite replace the holistic experience of a
summit like ours with a virtual meetup. However, we’ve
realised that the two can coexist. Our summits, moving
forward, will also feature a virtual expo allowing anyone
to tune in and walk through the floor plan.
Adaptability is a vital and invaluable skill that we have found
ourselves perfecting by walking barefoot through a fire – and
have come out stronger than before.

料 未 及 的 是 当 下 不 得 不 放 弃 刚 招 募 的 新 员 工 和
承 包 商 这 不 是 因 为 他 们 没 有 履 行 承 诺 , 而 是 因
为 这 是 在 风 暴 中 保 护 其 他 每 个 人 的 生 计 的 不 得
已 。 在 短 短 几 天 之 内 , 我 们 的 董 事 会 会 议 就 从
讨 论 冒 险 式 的 增 长 变 成 了 讨 论 生 存 问 题 。

• 我 们 没 有 回 头 。2019 年 , 我 们 做 出 了 进 军

经 验 。 在 同 一 地 点 同 一 时 期 举 办 两 个 展 览
可 以 让 双 方 从 中 受 益 。

的 整 体 体 验 。 但 是 , 我 们 意 识 到 两 者 可 以
共 存 我 们 举 办 峰 会 的 同 时 , 也 将 以 一 个 虚
拟 的 博 览 会 为 特 色 , 任 何 人 都 可 以 收 看 并
浏 览 整 个 平 面 图 。
适 应 能 力 是 一 项 至 关 重 要 且 不 可 估 量 的 技 能 ,
我 们 赤 脚 行 走 于 火 中 却 发 现 自 己 毫 发 无 损 , 并
且 变 得 比 以 前 更 强 大 。
