Y SIMON KÖLLE
to another world, A man of knowledge lives by acting, not by
thinking about acting. (Castaneda 1971)
To participate or create is not necessary putting on a false
beard and try to be someone else (even though that could arguable
work too). You can do it right now, in your chair or in your
bed. It´s not easy but you could if you try. The tool is a kind of
acting, actually becoming and doing it 100%.
In sports you call it to enter the zone and in other circumstances
of, for an example, immediate danger for your child, you
can enter the primitive state of pureness and focus. In such circumstances
a total fl ow enters the mind and we have all heard
of women lifting cars to save their child underneath it and things
like that.
In the art of imagination you can enter the zone, which is the
deeper level, with the help of both body and mind. The ideal
mindset enables the body to function automatically with little
conscious effort. In this optimal state, complex tasks appear to
be easily accomplished and time can either stand still or rush
by as the performer is completely immersed in what he or she
is doing. The ability to immerse yourself in task-relevant cues
that allow you to execute a task while staying grounded in the
present moment. Concentration also includes the ability to not
attend to distractions or non-relevant thoughts and refocus
when distracted.
When we hear a fantastic story or see a tremendous fi lm we
get into it and feelings emerge inside of us. But when only consuming
you don´t enter the dream world as much as glancing
into it.
The role of imagination is more than being an image of
a thing found in the mind, a conception, a thought, an idea. At
least if we truly want to immerse into a dream world, the next
level of imagination.
