INDIAN WELLS ART SHOW
This was a well organized show, managed
by Sprectrum, at the Renaissance Indian
Wells Resort. It featured a sculpture garden
outside of the main lobby and a large
gallery exhibit area inside in THconvention
meeting room area directly off of the lobby.
There were over 40 galleries from across the
country featuring hundreds of artists.
The primary attraction of this show was the
ability to meet, talk with, and watch artists
creating works during the show.
Another artist visited was Francesca Saveri.
She was demonstrating an encaustic
The exhibits were of a wide variety of varied
contemporary art. One of the first booths painting technique using bees wax, resin
we came upon was the Brian Rock Gallery.
Brian Rock was the artist and gallery and applied on a wood panel in a variety of
and color pigment. This mixture is heated
was placed on the floor on a tarp. The reheated with a torch which gives it a shiny
canvas was about 3 by 4 feet and one of surface that looks very plastic
the first things noticed was a pile of what
at first looked like shrapnel in the middle There were many artists and stories. The
of the canvas. Mr. Rock started to explain last one to include in this article is included
the work as we stood looking at it. He said because of the unusual
he was a recovering PSTD veteran of the attraction to a small framed piece about
Bosnian War, that the displayed work was 18 x 18 inches on a wall in the booth. The
his method of therapy recovering from the frame was white as was the background
trauma. The canvas he was working on represented
the horrors of war faced by chilpeared
to be a small black square about 2
around inside, in the middle, what apdren.
In the shrapnel on the canvas were inches square with a flame burning above
several shell casings, pieces of cloth from it. This is a piece created by Constance
his uniform, soil, and small pieces of toys. Dejong and featured by the Jackson Fine
He held up a small dress that he explained Art Gallery in Santa Fe. The flame was an
several paintings with large explosion like
color splashes. One bronzed sculptural
piece on a table was of a human head
ringed in barbed wire and surrounded by
pharmacy pill bottles. He explained that
these bottles were of actual prescriptions
he was given that were to help with the
psychological and physical trauma he had
experienced. These had not been effective,
but his depiction of his feeling portrayed in
the art work had helped him to conquer the
PSDT. I will cover more of his story in a
future article.

Independent voters in Michigan are allowed
Tom Swann and Guillermo Hernandezn Wedding!
Congratulations from the DDG!
Even a marriage inside a federal immigration center did not dampen spirits of this
happy couple. But for the United States, it wsas the first same-sex marriage of someone
in detention awaiting a deportation hearing.
But Swann makes history all the time! For veterans, and the LGBT community. “This
is the happiest day of my life,” said Swann, 58, shortly after he wed Hernandez. “Happier
than the day I graduated boot camp in the Marine Corps.” Mr. Swann’s military
case was instrumental in securing protection against sexual orientation discrimination
for lesbian and gay civilian employees of the Armed Services. “Tom Swann’s book
is a how to succeed handbook, a standard operating procedure for gay activists taking
on the conservative establishment, whether it is in government or the private sector.
Served on the national AMVETS Diversity Committee, Tom founded Riverside County
Veterans for Peace and spoke at Camp Casey (Crawford, Texas) with Cindy Sheehan.
Dedicated the peace pole outside Cathedral City Library and at Desert Mirage
High School, Swann is founding chair of the only certified Democratic Party veterans’
caucus in America. Personally met every American President since Richard Nixon.
THAT IS FUNNY FUCKING
• How do you make holy water? You boil the hell out of it.
• How do you hide a dead body? You hide it on page 2 of Google.
• Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level, and
then beat you with experience.
• What do you call a sleepwalking nun? A roamin’ Catholic.
• What do you call a masturbating cow? Beef stroganoff.
• Why did the walrus go to the Tupperware party? He was looking for
a tight seal.
• A mushroom walks into a bar. The bartender says, “Hey, get out of
here! We don’t serve mushrooms here”. Mushroom says,
“why not? I’m a fungi!”
JERSEY’S JOURNAL by Jersey Shore
Well, it’s time for the next step for
Miss Jersey. Time to take the next
step in this characters creation.
Sometimes we feel complacent in
our lives or routines. We get used to
doing this a certain way just to get
by and you forget to give it that extra
oomph and turn into second or third
gear. I’ll be going back into third
gear I think. The clutch got stuck, as
it does in life. It’s a good thing. All
you have to do is shift and work your
way up that hill and through the
obstacles.
They are only obstacles. They aren’t
a concrete entity. Obstacles CAN be
moved and driven through. You just
have to move it and give it a push. It
will move and you will advance to
the next path in life.
Road blocks are learning curves in
the road of life. You need them to
learn and move forward. Drive past
and read the signs. Take heed in what
they say or just take the consequences.
You will learn a lesson no matter
what path you take, it’s just a matter
of making the journey an easy one
with less hassles or calls to AAA.
So, I’m jumping on the highway of
life and looking for my new exit plan.
I will have billboards up showcasing
where I will be so, even if I get stuck
in traffic, life’s GPS will guide me to
some kind of paradise. My GPS has a
plan for me, even if it’s only pulling
over to the side of the road; I know
that every road leads towards you.
Peace, Love, and Life’s GPS,
