In the listings below, all places are in the inner city, unless otherwise mentioned. According to Danish law, smoking in bars, cafés, clubs and restaurants is only allowed in designated smoking areas and in bars with a serving area of less than 40 square metres. It is located in Frederiksberg only a short taxi ride from Copenhagen city centre. The service is friendly, and it is easy to start a conversation with most guests. Centralhjørnet is the oldest gay bar in Copenhagen, but also one of the liveliest pubs on Copenhagen’s gay scene, appealing to both young guys and mature men. Cosy Bar is a lively place, both during the nights and the early morning hours. It is well known as a very good place to pick up guys, either by the long bar or at the dance floor. Gimmick Bar & Café is lesbianowned and attracts both gay men and lesbians. It is located in Vesterbro, by the Central Station, and provides access to internet and magazines. Jailhouse has barred windows and small cells where the guests can sit and enjoy a beer or a drink together with friends. Jailhouse is popular and often hosts special events. Jernbanecafeen, next to the Central Station, is an authentic and mixed bar, especially popular amongst gays who want to keep the party going into the weekend morning hours. Kafe Knud is a nice café for people affected by HIV. It is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Masken Bar attracts both young and mature men as well as lesbian customers. The atmosphere is very easygoing, and Masken Bar provides free internet access. Men’s Bar is for men only. There is no strict dress code, but rather a very easy-going atmosphere among the staff and the customers. Never Mind is a night bar open until very late. Oscar is a gay café and bar, with a
nice outdoor area. It is normally busy both day and evening. Danish and international magazines available. Tight is a combined café, cocktail bar and restaurant, run by three guys from France, Canada and Australia. Tight attracts a mixed crowd and the atmosphere is relaxed. Vela located in Vesterbro attracts lesbians. Gay men are also welcome. Dance venues Be Proud is the only gay disco in Copenhagen, open all Fridays and Saturdays. Enjoy a mix of traditional hits and more modern tunes on the dance floor. Or relax in one of the bars or in the chill-out lounge. Club Christopher is at the venue of the former gay club Pan, now called K3, in Knabrostræde 3.
