oundaries. Following this are the bibliography
and photographs.
6. A map. The boundaries for the
individual sites are designated within a GIS
system, and as a result of this the coordinates
for every point of the individual borders are
available. The site plan is an orthographic
photograph at a scale of 1:10000. The
coordinates can be seen on the printed version
of the map.
7. A register of the affected properties is
provided in a separate Appendix of tables that
are organized in the following manner:
• Town name
• The accepted name of the archeological site
• The official name of the archeological site
• The designation of the archeological site in
earlier professional literature (on the basis
of VISY 2003a)
• The classification of the archeological site
(part of the Limes, or a site connected to it)
• The designation of the archeological site
(fort, town, fortress, watch-tower, fortified
port, road or other)
• The tentative list data
• Lot number
• Location characteristics of the property
(there are three categories in Hungarian
Land Registry: urban zone, rural zone,
enclosed field)
• Utilization characteristics of the property
(arable land, meadow, non-categorized,
developed, etc.)
• National Office of Cultural Heritage
(KÖH) identification number
• Type of protection (archeological, historic,
environmental conservation, local)
• Level of protection (national significance,
regional significance, general significance)
• Level of excavation (excavated, partially
excavated, unexcavated)
• Type of exhibition (enclosed site with
archeological remains, museum,
archeological park, open public property
with archeological remains)
• Condition (conserved, unconserved, stable,
endangered)
• Opportunities (can be exhibited, actual
reconstruction, virtual reconstruction,
archeological park, etc.).
The lot numbers related to the core zone
for every single site have been sorted according
to their whether the remains are visible or
covered, and we list the properties related to the
buffer zone separately (see Annex).
b) Description of the World Heritage elements
(description of their history and development)
c) Justification for nomination
The designation of the World Heritage
criteria on the basis of which the given element
is being nominated, each supported by clear
systematic reasoning. The designation of the
outstanding universal value based upon these
criteria. The preparation of a comparative analysis
with a similar site: this presents the nominated
property’s significance on a national and
international level. The confirmation of its
integrity and authenticity.
d) State of conservation
Factors affecting the given element (the
preservation of the property, its physical
condition, measures for protection and factors
affecting it).
e) Provisions for protection and management
The description of legal, regulatory,
contractual, planning, organizational and/or
traditional measures, and the detailed analysis of
the actual functioning of the system of
protection. A suitable management plan or
other management system must be attached to
the documentation.
f) Considerations and parties responsible for monitoring
The indicators must be designated through
which it is possible to measure and evaluate the
property’s state of conservation, the factors
affecting it and its measures for protection, as
well as how often these will be examined and
the authority/organization responsible for this
monitoring.
