Ingenieure AG aus St. Gallen hat in den letzten Jahren diverse Untersuchungen
am markanten Sitterviadukt der Südostbahn durchgeführt.

SOB Sitter Viaduct, St. Gallen_Structural survey, immediate measures and main inspection. Built between 1907 and
1910, the SOB Sitter Viaduct comprises two stone arch structures, with piers up to 93 m high, connected by a 120-m-span
steel truss deck.
With the viaduct approaching its centenary, the time had come to draw up a programme of possible measures for its
remaining service life, based on a structural survey.
Since 2002, Gruner + Wepf Ingenieure AG, St. Gallen, has conducted various investigations on behalf of SOB (Schweizerische
Südostbahn AG). These culminated in the main inspection, conducted in autumn 2008, of the entire structural steelwork,
including a total of 1,300 nodes. The survey findings and material specimens will now be analysed and compared with
the structural calculations, with final results scheduled for spring 2009.
