Top war crimes suspect Mladic arrives at The Hague

(Reuters) Former Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic was 

extradited to the Netherlands Tuesday to face genocide charges at the U.N. 

war crimes tribunal in The Hague after 16 years on the run. 

The 69-year-old arrived in Rotterdam on a Serbian government jet Tuesday 

evening. After 90 minutes at the airport, where he was kept out of sight of 

the media, Mladic was transferred by helicopter to the tribunal's detention 

center near The Hague. 

Mladic was indicted by the International Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia 

over the 43-month siege of the Bosnian capital Sarajevo and the massacre of 

8,000 Muslim men and boys in the town of Srebrenica during the 1992-95 

Bosnian war. 

He was arrested Thursday in a farmhouse in northern Serbia belonging to a 

cousin and extradited after losing his final legal appeal in Belgrade 

earlier in the day.

Sony Networks hacked post-PSN and PlayStation Store restart

(IBT) On the same day that Sony Corp. finally 

managed to restart its PlayStation Store service, 

a new group of hackers claimed to have 

successfully bypassed the company's online 

security, compromising a further one-million Sony 

customers account information. 


The hacking group LulzSec has claimed responsibility for the latest attack. 

In a post on its Twitter page the group wrote, "1,000,000+ unencrypted 

users, unencrypted admin accounts, government and military passwords saved 

in plaintext. #PSN compromised. @Sony". 

Since the attack the group has posted images and text files of the data it 

reportedly stole. The files included information regarding the names, birth 

dates, addresses, emails, phone numbers and passwords of users who entered 

Sony competitions run by its Pictures Entertainment Website. 

The group cited its reason for the attack as to demonstrate the inherent 

weakness of Sony's security. In a subsequent release entitled "Sownage" the 

group wrote: 

"Our goal here is not to come across as master hackers, hence what we're 

about to reveal: SonyPictures.com was owned by a very simple SQL injection, 

one of the most primitive and common vulnerabilities, as we should all know 

by now.

South Korea Acknowledges Secret Talks with North

(VOA) South Korea's government on Thursday admitted it held secret 

discussions with North Korea last month. South Korea's president is facing 

criticism across the domestic political spectrum for the talks, which were 

revealed by Pyongyang. 

The administration of President Lee Myung-bak finds itself on the defensive 

amid criticism at home of its secret contacts with North Korea. 

The two Korea's have no diplomatic relations and Lee, in public, has taken 

a hard-line approach towards Pyongyang. 

North Korea, on Wednesday, claimed three South Korean officials “begged” 

for a summit between leaders of the two countries and offered bribes at 

secret meetings in Beijing last month.

Österreich: Indizien für Schmiergeld bei Eurofightern

(Kurier) Der Belastungszeuge sitzt in Rom. In Wien gab es Razzien bei 

Waffenhändlern und einem EADS-Mann. Die Justiz ermittelt. 

Eine Wende in der Eurofighter Causa - die gibt es laut dem Grün- 

Abgeordneten Peter Pilz. Er fühlt sich in seinem Verdacht bestätigt, dass 


ei diesem Rüstungsgeschäft zwischen der Republik Österreich (2002 unter 

Schwarz-Blau) und dem Jet-Hersteller EADS Bestechungsgeld geflossen ist. 

Pilz berichtete am Donnerstag von Hausdurchsuchungen an Privat- und 

Geschäftsadressen in Wien: bei zwei Waffenhändlern und einem EADS-Manager. 

Alle drei würden der Beamtenbestechung und der Geldwäscherei beschuldigt. 

Die Staatsanwaltschaft Wien bestätigte das. Ins Rollen gebracht wurden die 

neuerlichen Ermittlungen durch eine Festnahme in Italien. Dort wurde der 

"Briefkastenspezialist" (Pilz) Gianfranco Lande wegen des Verdachts des 

Anlagebetrugs verhaftet. Bei seiner Einvernahme Anfang April habe dieser 

über das Eurofighter-Geschäft in Österreich gesprochen. Lande habe 

ausgesagt, dass über die Londoner Briefkastenfirma "Vector Aerospace", die 

von EADS-Deutschland gegründet worden sein soll, 84 Millionen Euro an 

diverse Kanäle geflossen seien. Von EADS-Deutschland war niemand für eine 

Stellungnahme zu den Vorwürfen erreichbar.

Israel repeats threat against Iran

(VR) Israel remains preoccupied with Tehran’s nuclear program and may carry 

out a preemptive strike against Iran, Israeli Vice Prime Minister Moshe 

Ya'alon said. Tel-Aviv often makes such kind of announcements without, 

however, specifying who would be responsible for attacking a sovereign 

state. Experts believe that this hostile rhetoric has to do with Iran’s 

growing influence in the region recently hit by a wave of social uprising. 

Israel has repeatedly called on world leaders to join efforts in the face 

of ‘the Iranian threat’, seeing Tehran as its main enemy and major source 

of regional instability, an allegation which Iran does not deny. President 

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also calls for Israel to be destroyed and provides 

financial and technical assistance to the Hamas Movement. Iran’s nuclear 

program remains a key matter of contention for nuclear weapons will 

definitely undermine the existing balance of power. Experts fear that 

religious extremists may get access to nuclear arsenals and this is what 

Israel uses to justify its potential preventive strike against Iran.

Israel's Borders and National Security

(STRATFOR) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said May 30 that 

Israel could not prevent the United Nations from recognizing a Palestinian 

state, in the sense of adopting a resolution on the subject. Two weeks ago, 

U.S. President Barack Obama, in a speech, called on Israel to return to 

some variation of its pre-1967 borders. The practical significance of these 

and other diplomatic evolutions in relation to Israel is questionable. 

Historically, U.N. declarations have had variable meanings, depending on 

the willingness of great powers to enforce them. Obama’s speech on Israel, 

and his subsequent statements, created enough ambiguity to make exactly 

what he was saying unclear. Nevertheless, it is clear that the diplomatic 

atmosphere on Israel is shifting. 

There are many questions concerning this shift, ranging from the competing 

moral and historical claims of the Israelis and Palestinians to the 

internal politics of each side to whether the Palestinians would be 

satisfied with a return to the pre-1967 borders. All of these must be 

addressed, but this analysis is confined to a single issue: whether a 

return to the 1967 borders would increase the danger to Israel’s national 

security. Later analyses will focus on Palestinian national security issues 

and those of others.

Combined Force Captures al-Qaida Operative

(DOD) A combined Afghan and coalition security force captured an al-Qaida 

facilitator and two associates in the Nahr-e Shahi district of 

Afghanistan’s Balkh province yesterday, military officials reported. 

The Pakistan-based attack planner is a close associate of senior al-Qaida 

insurgents, officials said, and is believed to have been with Osama bin 

Laden in Afghanistan in 2001.

Cross-Border Attack Kills at Least 65 in Northwest Pakistan

(VOA) Pakistani authorities say an estimated 200 militants crossed the 

border from Afghanistan and attacked a Pakistani border post starting a 

lengthy battle that has left at least 27 security troops and three 

civilians dead. Pakistani officials say more than 35 of the militants were 

also killed. 

The clash in the Dir tribal area of Pakistan began Wednesday and lasted 

well over 24 hours, although Pakistani officials say the area had calmed by 

midday Thursday, with Pakistani forces regaining control of the area. 

The location borders Afghanistan's Kunar province and has been a center for 

al-Qaida and other militants in the past.

Navy Commissions New Guided Missile Destroyer William P. Lawrence

(waronterrornews) The Navy will commission the newest Arleigh Burke class 

guided-missile destroyer, William P. Lawrence, Saturday, June 4, 2011, 

during an 11 a.m. CDT ceremony at Pier 2, Alabama State Docks, Mobile, Ala. 

Designated DDG 110, the new destroyer honors the late Vice Adm. William P. 

Lawrence. During the Vietnam War, as commanding officer of Fighter 

Squadron 143, Lawrence earned the Silver Star for a strike against a 

heavily defended target in North Vietnam. He completed his mission, but 

was captured after his aircraft went down in June 1967 and he remained a 

POW until March 1973. He earned the Distinguished Service Medal for his 

leadership to fellow POWs. 

Adm. James A. Winnefeld Jr., commander, U.S. Northern Command will deliver 

the ceremony's principal address. Diane Lawrence, widow of the ship's 

namesake and Vice Adm. Lawrence's daughters, Dr. Laurie Lawrence, and 

retired Navy Capt. Wendy Lawrence, will serve as sponsors of the ship.

Winter Gains Position Coalition Forces for July Transition

(DOD) Significant gains during winter fighting have wrested key areas from 

the Taliban and set the stage for July’s transition of the first provinces 

and district centers to Afghan control, an International Security 

Assistance Force official said today. 

Australian army Maj. Gen. Michael Krause, ISAF Joint Command’s deputy chief 

of staff, briefed reporters at the Pentagon live via digital video 

conference from the command’s headquarters in Kabul. 

The Joint Command is responsible for operations throughout Afghanistan. 

Krause serves as senior plans officer with Army Lt. Gen. David M. 

Rodriguez, commander of ISAF Joint Command. 

They’re on track for the first group of coalition troops to transition by 

about the end of July, Krause said. 

“And while there is a bit of work to be done,” he added, “there's also a 

bit of actual excitement on behalf of the Afghans, and they're almost 

ready. We're confident it's going to work.”

Immigrants Go Under the Knife to Erase Their Fingerprints

(OSINFO) Knives, acid, fire and even surgery are some of the methods 

undocumented immigrants are using to erase their fingerprints and avoid 

incarceration. These desperate procedures, according to federal agencies 

and humanitarian activists, are increasing in the face of the advanced 

technology used to identify undocumented immigrants. 

On Feb. 10, Dominican doctor Jose Elias Zaiter-Pou, 62, pleaded guilty to 

helping conceal the identity of undocumented immigrants by altering their 

fingerprints through surgical procedures. Zaiter-Pou charged $4,500 for the 

operation, in which he removed the ends of the fingertips, flipped them and 

sewed them back on, creating a new and unrecognizable print. He was 

sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison, followed by three years 

probation. 

According to reports by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), 

immigrants pay between $4,500 and $7,000 for the operation. 

The Secure Communities program requires local police to send fingerprint 

data of all arrestees to a federal database that stores fingerprint 

information of undocumented immigrants. ICE plans to extend the program 

throughout the country by the year 2013.

DOD Announces Charges Sworn Against 5 Detainees

(DOD) The Department of Defense announced today the office of military 

commissions prosecutors have sworn charges against five individuals 

detained at Guantanamo Bay: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Muhammad Salih Mubarak 

Bin 'Attash, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam 

al Hawsawi. 

The prosecutors have recommended that the charges against all five of the 

accused be referred as capital. Capital charges may only be pursued with 

the convening authority’s approval. Under rules governing military 

commissions, the accused will have the right to counsel learned in 

applicable law relating to capital cases. 

The charges allege that the five accused were responsible for the planning 

and execution of the attacks on New York, Washington D.C. and Shanksville, 

Pa. that occurred on September 11, 2001. Those attacks resulted in the 

deaths of nearly 3,000 people.

Der ehemalige CIA-Offizier Michael Scheuer kommandierte von 1996 bis 1999 

jene Abteilung, die auf Osama Bin Laden angesetzt war. Nach den 

Terroranschlägen vom 11. September diente er bis 2004 als Berater. Im 

gleichen Jahr erschien sein Buch „Imperial Hubris“ (imperialistische 

Überheblichkeit). Obwohl anonym veröffentlicht, wurde Scheuer rasch als 

Autor „entlarvt“. Seine persönlichen Erfahrungen, Studien zur Person von 

Osama Bin Laden, seinen Anhängern und deren Zielen, vermitteln ein Bild, 


das keineswegs mit den üblichen Medienberichten übereinstimmt. Im Februar 

dieses Jahres erschien ein weiteres Buch von ihm, das den Titel „Osama Bin 

Laden“ trägt. Auch darin werden die Motivationen des mittlerweile getöteten 

Terroristen-Führers und seiner Gefolgschaft von einem neutralen Standpunkt 

beschrieben. Scheuer versucht zu überzeugen, dass radikale Islamisten 

niemals daran interessiert waren, die westliche Welt zu zerstören oder zu

of the Afghan air force, the company said. Under the deal, Russia will 

provide spare parts for the helicopters and help train Afghan pilots. 

Deliveries will begin in October and be completed during 2012. 

“This is a very serious contract,” said Vyacheslav Davidenko, of

NATO Committed to Reducing Afghan Civilian Deaths

(VOA) U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Wednesday NATO allies 

are committed to reducing civilian casualties in the Afghan conflict, where 

she said most civilian deaths are the work of Taliban insurgents. She spoke 

after a warning by Afghan President Hamid Karzai that he might curb NATO 

operations because of non-combatant deaths. 

Clinton is reaffirming NATO’s commitment to limiting civilian casualties in 

Afghan combat operations, while saying the Taliban is responsible for the 

“vast majority” of non-combatant deaths and injuries. 

The secretary spoke at a joint press event with Brazilian Foreign Minister 

Antonio Patriota after a warning by Karzai that NATO would be considered an

Afghan-led Forces Nab Insurgent Facilitator

(DOD) An Afghan-led combined security force captured an Islamic Movement of 

Uzbekistan facilitator along with several of his associates yesterday 

evening during a security operation in the Mazar-e Sharif district of 

Afghanistan’s Balkh province, military officials reported. 

The facilitator assisted with the May 28 attack against the Takhar 

provincial governor’s palace that killed and wounded Afghan government 

officials and Afghan civilians, including the Afghan National Police 

commander, and the provincial chief of police. Recent reports indicate that 

the facilitator had been in direct contact with Islamic Movement of 


Uzbekistan leaders in Pakistan, providing them with specific reports on the 

damage effects of the May 28 blast. 

The combined Afghan and coalition force was able to locate the facilitator 

at a compound in Mazar-e Sharif. Afghan members of the force assaulted the 

compound where they found the facilitator along with several associates. He 

identified himself to the security force and was immediately taken into 

custody.

security prosecution let Hosseini go after it was "notified by the 

(Egyptian) foreign ministry that he was a diplomat in the Iranian mission."

22nd anniversary of the carnage. he Chinese government could compensate the 

families of the victims of the Tiananmen Square crackdown. In an open 

letter discussing the issue, the ‘Mothers of Tiananmen’, an organisation 

that brings together relatives of the victims of the 4 June 1989 massacre 


ordered by then paramount leader Deng Xiaoping. The leader of the group, 

Ding Zilin, rejected the offer, saying, “We want the truth, not money.” 

The letter, which was signed by 127 people, noted that the relatives of one 

of the victims were approached twice in February by government officials in 

order to discuss compensation. During the meeting, the officials refused to 

discuss anything but compensation.

China Rejects Blame For Gmail Cyberattack

(RFE) China has rejected as "unacceptable" allegations of involvement in a 

cyberspying campaign targeting the Google e-mail accounts of senior U.S. 

officials, military personnel, journalists, and Chinese activists. 

The Chinese reaction came a day after Google said hackers had tried to 

steal the passwords of hundreds of Gmail account holders. 

Google has not blamed the Chinese government directly but said the 

cyberspying campaign appeared to have originated in Jinan, in the eastern 

Chinese province of Shandong. 

The breach is likely to further complicate uneasy relations between the 

U.S. company and Chinese authorities, which have been strained over 

censorship and a previous cyberscheme.

The cyber-warfare operation was launched by MI6 and GCHQ in an attempt to

terrorists with a new English-language magazine, the Daily Telegraph 

understands. When followers tried to download the 67-page colour magazine, 

instead of instructions about how to “Make a bomb in the Kitchen of your 

Mom” by “The AQ Chef” they were greeted with garbled computer code. 

The code, which had been inserted into the original magazine by the British 

intelligence hackers, was actually a web page of recipes for “The Best 

Cupcakes in America” published by the Ellen DeGeneres chat show.

discovered in a canal in 2005 has urged the PSNI to use modern forensic

Armagh man Gareth O’Connor vanished in May 2003 while making his way to

His whereabouts remained a mystery until his remains were found in his car 

which was dumped in a section of Newry Canal almost two years later in June 

2005. 

Despite extensive forensic tests it has yet to be established how the 24year-old 

died.

Both the M3, M2 and the northbound lane of the Westlink were closed as Army 

bomb experts investigated an abandoned vehicle left under the motorway 

bridge at Dock Street, close to the Cityside Retail Park. 

A number of other roads around the retail park were also closed and 

diversions put in place, but traffic in the city ground to a halt as 

workers trying to get home for the weekend found themselves in total

IRA founder, 89, has ‘no regrets’

Billy McKee, 89, is the former officer commanding of the IRA in Belfast and 

was on its ruling army council. 

He refused to condemn the horrific Bloody Friday bombings in Belfast city 

centre which killed nine people and injured 130 others, saying it “didn’t 

come off as expected”. 

Bloody Friday involved 22 bombs exploding in 80 minutes on July 21, 1972. 

Although the IRA issued an apology in 2002 to the families of those killed 

and injured during the attacks, McKee this week told the Irish News: “I’m 

not going to condemn it or the men that carried it out. No way.”

Castlereagh break-in legal actions resolved

chinesischen Arzt John Zhou seit Ende 2005 dem chinesischen Geheimdienst 

Informationen über Falun Gong übermittelt zu haben. 

Am Oberlandesgericht Celle wird in diesen Tagen gegen einen chinesischen 

Spion verhandelt. Dr. med. John Zhou, deutscher Staatsbürger, Arzt und 

Inhaber des Ost-Zhou-Verlags, wird vorgeworfen, für den chinesischen 

Geheimdienst und sein „Büro 610“ in Deutschland die Mitglieder und 

Aktivitäten von Falun Gong ausspioniert zu haben. Als Verteidiger erschien 

der ehemalige deutsche Innenminister Rechtsanwalt Otto Schily. 

Das „Büro 610“ wurde am 10. Juni 1999 in China eingerichtet, um die ab 20. 

Juli 1999 einsetzende Verfolgung von Falun Gong durchzuführen – auch 

außerhalb der chinesischen Verfassung.

Hanspeter Thür zu werden. Nicht nur im Kampf gegen Google Street View 

konnte er einen Sieg für sich verbuchen, auch in Sachen Geheimdienst-Fichen 

kann er nun einen Erfolg feiern: Der Ständerat hat heute einstimmig ein 

revidiertes Staatsschutz-Gesetz verabschiedet, welches neu explizit ein 

direktes Auskunftsrecht beinhaltet. «Unsere Hartnäckigkeit zahlt sich aus», 

freut sich Thür. 

Jahrelang hatte er sich nämlich bei Politikern dafür eingesetzt, dass die 

Staatsschützer den Bürgern nur in begründeten Fällen die Auskunft 

verweigern dürfen, ob und weswegen sie beim Staatsschutz fichiert sind.

können bei einem Einsichtsgesuch in die Staatschutz-Datenbank nur

Erich Steininger und das Ehepaar Gernot und Erika Rumpold. 

"Die Staatsanwaltschaft Wien geht mit solchen Fällen um wie Rindfleisch: 

Man lässt es lange abliegen und dann kommt es in die Suppe. Und dann kommt 

der Ausruf: 'Die Suppe ist zu dünn'", sagte der Grüne Sicherheitssprecher. 

"Das wird alles ausgesessen von der Staatsanwaltschaft." 

"Das werden wir auf keinen Fall so akzeptieren", sagte Pilz zur 

Einstellung: "Wir werden die Herrschaften zum Arbeiten zwingen." Er habe 

nun eine "Reihe weiterer Unterlagen und Hinweise" zusammengestellt und 

werde dies in den kommenden Tagen der Staatsanwaltschaft übergeben. Die 

Staatsanwaltschaft habe einen hohen Anteil daran, dass Österreich gemeinsam

Border control to be restored in Austria ahead of world forum

(chinadaily) Border controls will be restored in Austria to guarantee 

security for the World Economic Forum that will be held here in early June, 

the Interior Ministry said Thursday. 

From June 4 to 9, travellers crossing the border at major transit points 

will be checked to "avoid any possible turmoil" at the forum, Interior 

Ministry spokesman Harald Noschiel said. 

The ministry said there likely will be anti-globalization protests during 

the June 8-9 forum and some "dangerous persons" will come to Austria from 

neighboring countries. 

Whether full border controls will be implemented would depend on "the 

situation before the opening of the forum," Noschiel said. 

The upcoming border control does not violate the Schengen Agreement, 

however, Noschiel added, since the agreement loosening border controls in 

much of Europe allows member states to restore the previous standards when 

they face "a major threat to public order." 

The ministry said many government representatives, including 13 heads of 

state, and national organizations will attend the forum.

die gestern durchgeführten Hausdurchsuchungen wegen des Verdachts der 

Steuerhinterziehung durch Grasser mit juristischen Mitteln bekämpfen. 

Ainedter will nun Rechtsmittel ergreifen, ob die Razzien überhaupt zulässig 

waren, kündigte er heute an. Mitgenommen wurden von den Ermittlern laut 

Ainedter auch zwei Handys der Familie Grasser, eines davon gehöre einem 

Kind.

Protective Intelligence Lessons from an Ambush in Mexico

(STRATFOR) On the afternoon of May 27, a convoy 

transporting a large number of heavily armed gunmen 

was ambushed on Mexican Highway 15 near Ruiz, 

Nayarit state, on Mexico’s Pacific coast. When 

authorities responded they found 28 dead gunmen and 

another four wounded, one of whom would later die, 

bringing the death toll to 29. This is a 

significant number of dead for one incident, even 

in Mexico. 

According to Nayarit state Attorney General Oscar Herrera Lopez, the gunmen 

ambushed were members of Los Zetas, a Mexican drug cartel. Herrera noted 

that most of the victims were from Mexico’s Gulf coast, but there were also 

some Guatemalans mixed into the group, including one of the wounded 

survivors. While Los Zetas are predominately based on the Gulf coast, they 

have been working to provide armed support to allied groups, such as the 

Cartel Pacifico Sur (CPS), a faction of the former Beltran Leyva 

Organization that is currently battling the Sinaloa Federation and other 

cartels for control of the lucrative smuggling routes along the Pacific 

coast. In much the same way, Sinaloa is working with the Gulf cartel to go 

after Los Zetas in Mexico’s northeast while protecting and expanding its 

home turf. If the victims in the Ruiz ambush were Zetas, then the Sinaloa 

Federation was likely the organization that planned and executed this very 

successful ambush.

(Telegraph) US intelligence officials are building a computer system to 

analyse metaphors used by foreigners during conversations to identify if 

they are friend or foe. 

A little-known agency is developing The Metaphor Program to "reveal the 

underlying beliefs and world-views of members of a culture" by examining 

the subtle differences in their choice of metaphors. It will pluck figures 

of speech from vast numbers of statements by Farsi, Russian, Spanish and 


English speakers, label them with precise meanings, and store all this in a 

computerised "metaphor repository". 

Analysts would then be able to compare real-life statements against the 

database to predict the intentions of people who may represent a threat to 

the US or who are involved in international conflicts. 

In a presentation to companies bidding to take part, Dr Heather McCallum- 

Bayliss, the project chief, suggested words used by Israelis and 

Palestinians to describe each other – and by Indians and Pakistanis to 

describe Britain – could be analysed.

activated a spy camera on his Macbook to locate his stolen laptop and take 

pictures of the thief who stole it from his home. 


Joshua Kaufman, from Oakland had installed a security programme called 

Hidden on his machine, which when activated showed the thief lying next to 

the stolen laptop on a sofa. 

Armed with this information, Kaufman was able to work out the robber's job 

and whereabouts. But despite presenting the evidence to the police, 

officers again failed to take action, reports The Telegraph.

Wilhelm Dietl: Anmerkungen zu Norbert Juretzko

(Wilhelm Dietl) Es ist das immer gleiche, alte Lied. Der Mitarbeiter einer 

großen, multinationalen Firma läuft im Außendienst zur Hochform auf. Er 

wird belobigt, gefördert, befördert. Eines Tages gerät er in die Rolle des 

Überbringers der schlechten Nachricht. Die Hiobsbotschaft bringt seinen 

wichtigsten Vorgesetzten um den Posten. Bevor der allmächtige 

Abteilungsleiter das Haus verlässt, legt er noch Tretminen. Das führt zu 

allseitigen Kollateralschäden. Dieser Mitarbeiter, der dies alles, nur 

durch das Überbringen der schlechten Nachricht, ausgelöst hat, steht 

schließlich vor dem Strafrichter. Seine Firma wirft ihm vor, anvertraute 

Gelder veruntreut zu haben. In dem Verfahren wird natürlich mit allen 

Tricks gearbeitet. Er hat keine Chance, seine mögliche Unschuld zu 

beweisen. Der Prozess läuft nichtöffentlich und damit auch abseits der 

Medien. Am Ende wird er verurteilt – zu einer Bewährungsstrafe von elf 

Monaten. Nun ist es vorbei mit der 15jährigen Loyalität zum Arbeitgeber. 

Der Geprügelte beschließt, sein gesamtes Firmenwissen der interessierten 

Öffentlichkeit mitzuteilen. 

Soweit so gut. Würde die gefeuerte Kraft beispielsweise silberfarbene 

Datenscheiben mit den Namen von 20 000 deutschen Steuersündern an die 

Finanzbehörden verkaufen, wäre dies – nachneudeutscher Rechtsauslegung - 

absolut in Ordnung. Hier waren die Vorzeichen jedoch umgekehrt. Der Mann, 

um den es hier geht, heißt Norbert Juretzko und gehörte dem 

Bundesnachrichtendienst an. Nach Auffassung seines hochsensiblen 

Dienstherrn durfte gerade er nicht auspacken, über nichts und niemanden. Er 

hätte, so sehen es die ehernen Regeln des Gewerbes vor, sein Wissen mit ins 

Grab nehmen müssen. Diese Geschichte ist auch eine lange Kette von 

Reaktionen. Jeder reagierte auf den anderen, und in der Regel zu spät. 

Juretzko, geboren 1953 in Salzgitter, ehemaliger Bundeswehroffizier, war 

angesichts des „Unrechtsurteils“ – wie er es sieht – nicht mehr zu bremsen. 

Alles musste raus. 

Es war die Geburtsstunde eines Bestsellers. Norbert Juretzko traf ich 

erstmals Anfang 2003. In groben Zügen erzählte er seinen Hintergrund und 

bat um Formulierungshilfe, zuallererst aber auch um Unterstützung bei der 

Suche nach einem passenden Buchverlag. Im Sommer 2003 war es soweit. Wir 

hatten einen Verlag – Ullstein – und unterschrieben Verträge. Juretzko 

bekam einen zeitlichen Vorsprung, sein Schicksal in eigenen Worten 

zusammenzuschreiben. Ich führte mit ihm gezielte Gespräche, las viele 

Dokumente und studierte beispielsweise die Umstände des Abzugs der 

Westgruppe der sowjetischen Streitkräfte aus der damals bereits 

verblichenen DDR. Diesen Vorgang überwachte Juretzko im Auftrag des BND und 

in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem amerikanischen Militär-Geheimdienst DIA. In 

den Wintermonaten 2003/2004 schrieb ich mehrere hundert Seiten Manuskript. 

Wir lieferten es gemeinsam in Berlin ab. 

Das fertige Buch trug den Titel „Bedingt dienstbereit“ – Untertitel „Im 

Herzen des BND – die Abrechnung eines Aussteigers“ und lag ab Sommer 2004 

in großen, signalroten Stapeln an zentralen Stellen der Buchhandlungen. 

Rasch sprach sich herum, welche Brisanz zwischen den Buchdeckeln steckte, 

und dass die Gefahr der Beschlagnahme drohte. Als Schwerpunkt und roter 

Faden zog sich der (bis heute nicht eindeutig aufgeklärte) Vorwurf gegen 

die frühere „graue Eminenz“ des BND, Volker Foertsch, heimlich für das KGB 


gearbeitet zu haben, durch die Seiten. In dem Mix steckten auch viele 

Informationen zur Tätigkeit der NATO-Geheimarmee „Gladio“, zur Aufklärung 

des BND in Richtung Sowjetunion/Russland. „Bedingt dienstbereit“ – eine 

Anspielung auf das geflügelte Wort aus der „SPIEGEL“-Affäre – beleuchtete 

auch die alltägliche, mangelnde Professionalität und das organisierte Chaos 

im Inneren der geheimen Riesenbehörde im Münchner Süden. 

Der Bundesnachrichtendienst reagierte überaus gereizt, da ohne lange 

Vorwarnung mit diesem Buch konfrontiert. Gereizt auch, weil nicht zur 

Zensur vorgelegt. Der BND ging sofort zum Gegenangriff über und zeigte den 

ehemaligen Mitarbeiter Juretzko wegen vermeintlichen Landesverrats an. 

Später reduzierte sich die Anzeige auf Geheimnisverrat bzw. den Verrat von 

Dienstgeheimnissen. Nachdem auch beim BND Irren menschlich ist, wurde 

Norbert Juretzko im Juni 2007 auf Antrag der Staatsanwaltschaft beim 

Landgericht Berlin und seiner Verteidigung von diesen Vorwürfen 

freigesprochen. Bei mir, dem „Mittäter“, entschied sich der BND für 

Rufmord, also für eine Psycho-Strategie, die am Ende Ruf und Beruf 

ruiniert. Das aber ist eine ganz andere Geschichte, die ich bereits an 

anderen Stellen ausführlich dargestellt habe. 

Das Buch „Bedingt dienstbereit“ war einer der Bestseller des Jahres 2004 

und eroberte sogar den zweiten Platz der wichtigen SPIEGEL-Liste. Schon 

aufgrund des großen Erfolges sahen wir uns veranlasst, eine Fortsetzung zu 

schreiben: „Im Visier“. Dieses Werk sollte erst 2006 erscheinen, zumal 

Sachbücher mit überwiegend autobiographischen Inhalten nicht im Akkord 

entstehen. Unsere enge, vertrauensvolle Zusammenarbeit, und darauf ist in 

diesem Kontext zu achten, reichte also von 2003 bis 2007. Der BND- 

Aussteiger konnte sich aber auch alleine behaupten. Seit dem Erscheinen 

seiner indiskreten Erinnerungen gilt er als Experte, der Medien aller Art 

mit Expertisen zur Verfügung steht. Gerne wird er zu Schaltgesprächen oder 

ins Studio geladen, wenn deutsche Schlapphüte für unfreiwillige – und 

zumeist negative – Schlagzeilen sorgen. Der Ehemalige hat für alles eine 

Antwort. 

Am 14. Januar 2005 kam es zu einer wichtigen Besprechung zwischen Norbert 

Juretzko und mir. Er verdeutlichte mir seine prekäre Finanzlage: 

Verpflichtungen aus dem BND-Verfahren, neue Ermittlungen wegen „Bedingt 

dienstbereit“ und andere unvorhergesehene Ausgaben – er war im Prinzip 

pleite. Diese Situation, so Juretzko, würde das zweite Buch gefährden. Er 

müsse Geld verdienen und könne nicht mehr an dem Projekt arbeiten. Um Band 

zwei zu retten, und aus Mitgefühl, lieh ich ihm 11 000 Euro. Es war fast 

meine gesamte Barschaft der damaligen Zeit. In drei Monaten, so versprach 

Juretzko, sei das Geld wieder bei mir. Bis dahin werde er die 

Eigentumswohnung seines Vaters verkaufen. 

Gesagt, aber nicht getan. Irgendwann später eröffnete er mir, sein Vater 

sei gestorben, die Wohnung sei verkauft, kein Geld übrig geblieben. Norbert 

Juretzko vertröstete mich für lange Zeit. Nach massivem Druck, führte er 

schließlich im Jahr 2006 einen Teilbetrag von 1500 Euro an mich zurück. Im 

November 2006 schickte er mir eine E-Mail und schlug darin vor, ich möge 

selbst einen Kredit aufnehmen. Er werde dann die Zinsen bezahlen. Dieser 

Gedankengang gefiel mir gar nicht. 

Nachdem er mich immer wieder mit fadenscheinigen Begründungen vertröstet 

hatte, passierte, was man zwischen (Geschäfts-)Partnern vermeiden sollte, 

gerade in einem derart sensiblen Arbeitsgebiet. Im August 2007 beantragte 

ich wegen ausstehender Rückzahlung des gegebenen Privatdarlehens den 

Mahnbescheid gegen meinen Ko-Autoren Norbert Juretzko, und bald auch einen 

Vollstreckungsbescheid. In beiden Fällen legte er keinen Widerspruch ein. 

Er war aber auch regelmäßig nicht anzutreffen, wenn der Gerichtsvollzieher 

kam. Vorsorglich gab er dann am 21. Mai 2008 die Eidesstattliche 

Versicherung gegenüber dem Obergerichtsvollzieher beim Amtsgericht Celle 


ab. Norbert Juretzko füllte ein sechsseitiges Vermögensverzeichnis aus. 

Fazit: Bei dem Pensionär mit dem erlernten Beruf „Industriekaufmann“ war de 

facto nichts zu holen. 

In der Folge arbeitete Norbert Juretzko für eine Frankfurter 

Sicherheitsfirma. Er versuchte die ihm noch vorliegenden ca. 3500 Blatt 

BND-Unterlagen auf dem freien Markt zu verkaufen. Dieser Vorgang löste neue 

Ermittlungen der Staatsanwaltschaft München I wie erneute 

Hausdurchsuchungen bei Juretzko und in seinem Umfeld aus. In diesem 

Zusammenhang warf ihm die bayerische Justiz auch falsche uneidliche Aussage 

vor. Gegen den damit verbundenen Strafbefehl legte er Einspruch ein, zog 

diesen aber während der Hauptverhandlung im Juli 2010 wieder zurück. Somit 

verhinderte er, dass die Details der von ihm versteckten Akten öffentlich 

erörtert wurden. 

Bei unserem letzten, gemeinsamen Gespräch machte Norbert Juretzko in 

Anwesenheit einer uns beiden bekannten Anwältin klar, dass er seine 

Schulden nicht zurückzahlen werde. Er habe kein Geld. Nach dieser 

Mitteilung stand er auf und verschwand. Selten, dass es dem BND-Agenten 

a.D. die Sprache verschlagen hat. 

Inzwischen hat der ehemalige lokale SPD-Stadtverbandsvorsitzende von Celle 

und Wahlkampfleiter des regionalen Abgeordneten und Ex- 

Bundesverteidigungsminister Peter Struck, der BND-Verbindungsführer und 

Bestsellerautor Norbert Juretzko ein politisches Wendemanöver eingeleitet. 

Seit 2009 sitzt er im Vorstand der Partei Die Linke für Stadt und Kreis 

Celle, steht wieder für kommunalpolitische Ämter zur Verfügung. 

Noch spektakulärer ist seine neue Funktion als Vorsitzender der Wietzer 

Bürgerinitiative (BI) für den Erhalt des Alster-Leine-Tals e.V. Mit 900 

Mitgliedern kämpft BI gegen die Celler Land Frischgeflügel GmbH, die 

derzeit für 60 Millionen Euro Europas größte Hühner-Schlachtfabrik baut. In 

der ersten Ausbaustufe des umstrittenen Projekts sollen täglich bis zu 100 

000 Tiere verarbeitet werden. Für die nahe Zukunft ist eine Verdoppelung 

dieser Quote geplant. Die Celler Land Frischgeflügel GmbH will bis zu 1000 

Mitarbeiter beschäftigen. Im Radius von 150 Kilometern sollen zudem rund 

400 neue Ställe für jeweils 40 000 Hähnchen entstehen. Diese Investitionen 

werden von der Politik begrüßt, vom Wutbürger in der Lüneburger Heide aber 

abgelehnt. Gegen den Emsländer Hühnerbaron Franz-Josef Rothkötter braut 

sich in und um Wietze viel Ärger zusammen. An der Spitze der Bewegung, der 

einstige „Gladio“-Insider Nürbert Juretzko. 

Das Beste vom Norden, würde die NDR-Werbung anmerken, steht uns noch bevor. 

Höchste Zeit, dass Norbert Juretzko wieder zu Geld kommt, damit er seine 

eigentlich soziale Gesinnung voll ausleben kann.

Wehrmacht. Abhörprotokolle der Soldaten dokumentieren ihr 

Handwerk: Der Krieg lässt die Männer verrohen. 

Herumliegende Leichen gehören zum Alltag. 

Einmal gab Winston Churchill nach. Um deutsche 

Kriegsgefangene im Zweiten Weltkrieg abzuhören, verlangte 

der britische Geheimdienst komfortable Unterkünfte für die 

Wehrmachtsoldaten. Sie sollten sich wohl fühlen, um in 

Plauderstimmung zu sein. Churchill hielt das für 

übertriebenen Luxus, stimmte aber am Ende zu. 55 Jahre 

später passiert dem Historiker Sönke Neitzel, wovon jeder 

Historiker träumt: Er hebt einen Schatz, findet die. 

transkribierten Dokumente des Lauschangriffs von Briten und Amerikanern. 

Nun hat Neitzel einen kleinen Teil der Quellen gemeinsam mit dem 

Sozialpsychologen Harald Welzer veröffentlicht. Das Buch „Soldaten“ zeigt, 

was der Krieg aus Soldaten macht. Er macht sie zu Mördern, weil das Töten 

das schlichte Ziel ihres Wirkens ist.

CIA Releases Film on Blown China Spy Mission

(abcnews) The Central Intelligence Agency will 

for the first time make public today a 

documentary the agency produced chronicling the 

dramatic capture and two decade-long imprisonment 

and interrogation of two of its agents by the 

Chinese government after a blown secret mission, 

the CIA said today. 

The film, titled "Extraordinary Fidelity" presumably after the inscription 

on the Director's Medal each agent won after their release in the 1970s, is 

the first of its kind and until now was only intended to be shown within 

the agency's walls. It will first be shown tonight at the National Museum 

of the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, 

and is expected to be uploaded to the internet. 

The film was produced by the CIA’s Center for the Study of Intelligence and 

first shown almost a year ago at CIA headquarters.

„Die Nordsee von oben“ bietet dem Publikum einen 

Leinwandflug von Ostfriesland bis Sylt, über Halligen und Wattenmeer, über 

Fiede Nissen und Knud Knudsen. Es ist der erste Kinofilm, der die Nordsee 

90 Minuten lang ausschließlich aus der Vogelperspektive zeigt. Eine Kamera, 

die für den amerikanischen Geheimdienst CIA entwickelt wurde, für Spionage 

und Beobachtungsflüge, kam dafür zum Einsatz.

Der zerrissene Vorhang 

Spionagethriller

Beschreibung: Hitchcocks Spionage-Klassiker wirft einen spannenden und 

nicht zuletzt humorvollen Blick hinter den eisernen Vorhang. Mit 

inszenatorischer Raffinesse zeichnet der Altmeister ein bemerkenswertes 

Bild des DDR-Alltags, wozu die deutschen Darsteller Günter Strack, Hansjörg 

Felmy und Wolfgang Kieling beitragen. Surrealer Höhepunkt ist die quälend 

langsame Ermordung des Genossen Gromek mit Klinge, Spaten und Gas. 

Untypisch für Hitchcock wurde der Thriller mit Paul Newman und Julie 

Andrews besetzt, die seinerzeit im Zenit ihres Ruhmes standen.

Beschreibung: Hort und Ausbildungsplatz des internationalen Terrorismus, 

korrupt, instabil, Atommacht. Diese Schlagworte werden meist genannt, wenn 

es um Pakistan geht. Das Land gilt als politisch instabil und notorisch 

pleite. Tatsächlich gehören Terroranschläge mit dutzenden Toten 

mittlerweile zum Alltag der Menschen, lähmt die andauernde Korruption die 

Verwaltung und vor allem die Wirtschaft des Landes.

Die CIA und die Nazis

Beschreibung: Im Herbst 1945, sechs Monate nach der Kapitulation 

Deutschlands und dem Ende der Nazi-Herrschaft, begann in Nürnberg der 

Prozess gegen die Hauptkriegsverbrecher. Zugleich traten mehr als 4.000 

ehemalige Nazis unbemerkt von der Öffentlichkeit in den Dienst der US- 

Regierung, um in Westdeutschland gegen die Sowjetunion zu spionieren oder 

als Wissenschaftler und Ingenieure die US-Forschung zu unterstützen. Die 

N24-Doku zeigt die Hintergründe dieser unglaublichen Geschichte.

Beschreibung: Kapstadt, Südafrika. Der wohlhabende und einflussreiche weiße 

Rassist Dekker plant mit seiner rechtsextremen Organisation ein 

spektakuläres Attentat, um den politischen Übergang von der Apartheid zur 

Demokratie zu torpedieren. Der schwarze Profikiller Mabasha soll während 


der Friedensnobelpreisverleihung an Nelson Mandela und Präsident Frederik 

Willem de Klerk in Oslo zuschlagen - dann will Dekker den Mordanschlag 

schwarzen Fanatikern in die Schuhe schieben. Mit Unterstützung des 

russischen Ex-KGB-Agenten Konovalenko reist Mabasha ins ländliche Schweden, 

um auf einem entlegenen Bauernhof das Attentat vorzubereiten.

Beschreibung: Der amerikanische Professor Pollock wird von dem arabischen 

Ölmagnaten Beshraavi engagiert, um ein Dokument zu entschlüsseln, das in 

einer alten Symbolschrift verfasst wurde - ein Auftrag, durch den Pollock 

schon bald in höchste Gefahr gerät. Von Beshraavis Geliebter Yasmin 

gewarnt, dass dieser ihn nach der Übersetzung umbringen will, nimmt Pollock 

sie als Geisel und begibt sich auf die Flucht.

Der gesäuberte Planet - Eine Reise ins Innere der Scientology

Beschreibung: Scientology: In der Literatur gibt es für die dubiose 

Organisation viele Namen: "Sektenkonzern", "Psychokonzern", "Krake" oder 

die "Magie des 20. Jahrhunderts". Für Deutschlands Innenbehörden gilt die 

Gruppe als eine "extremistische Organisation". Noch im Dezember 2007 waren 

sich die 17 Teilnehmer der Innenministerkonferenz einig, dass sie 

"Scientology für eine nicht mit der Verfassung vereinbare Organisation 

halten". Nicht umsonst liegt Scientology inzwischen seit Jahrzehnten im 

Konflikt mit Rechtsordnungen demokratischer Staaten. Die Palette der 

Verfahren reicht von Betrug und Wucher gegenüber Kunden, Bedrohung und 

Nötigung von Kritikern, bis hin zur Verschwörung gegen die Regierung und 

Bildung einer kriminellen Vereinigung. Die Dokumentation im ZDFinfokanal 

versucht die Frage zu beantworten, wie Scientology wirbt.

Das Attentat: Die große FBI-Verschwörung 

Politthriller 

Dauer: 100 min (h) 

Beschreibung: Vor den Augen der FBI-Einsatzleiterin Lauren Jacobs wird der 

erste schwarze Präsidentschaftskandidat der USA ermordet. Der angebliche 

Täter wird tot aufgefunden, Lauren zum Sündenbock gestempelt und der Fall 

zu den Akten gelegt. Nach dem Vorfall kehrt Lauren dem FBI verbittert den 

Rücken. Jahre später erhält sie Informationen, dass der Mord nicht die Tat 

eines Einzeltäters war, sondern ein wohl durchdachtes politisches Komplott.
