'Eta military leader' Izaskun Lesaka arrested in France

(bbc) A woman suspected of being a military leader in the armed Basque
separatist group Eta has been arrested in France, the Spanish interior
ministry says.
Izaskun Lesaka and another Eta suspect were arrested by French police in
the town of Macon, a statement said.
It described Ms Lesaka as one of the "three most important figures" in Eta,
and said both suspects had been armed.
Eta announced a "definitive end" to its armed campaign in October 2011, but
Spain has demanded that it disband.

Anti-terror laws face new human rights challenge at European court

(telegraph) British counter-terrorism legislation is under threat from
European judges in Strasbourg.
Measures which allow police to keep terror suspects in custody for
questioning for up to 14 days are at the centre of a legal challenge
brought by Colin Duffy, an Irish republican dissident who was last week
arrested over the murder of David Black, a Northern Ireland prison officer.
The case will raise fresh questions about Europe’s influence over our legal
system, following rows over prisoner voting and the deportation of foreign
criminals.

Gedenken an die Opfer von Toulouse

(nzz) Im Rahmen seines Besuchs in Frankreich hat Israels Ministerpräsident
Netanyahu an einer Gedenkfeier für die Opfer von Toulouse teilgenommen.
Sieben Monate nach dem Anschlag auf eine jüdische Schule bleibt der
Geheimdienst im Zwielicht.
Am zweiten Tag seines Besuchs in Frankreich hat der israelische
Ministerpräsident Netanyahu der jüdischen Schule in Toulouse, auf die Mitte
März ein Anschlag verübt worden war, einen Besuch abgestattet. Bei dem
Anlass zum Gedenken an die vier Mordopfer, drei Kinder und ein Lehrer des
Gymnasiums, waren Präsident Hollande, Angehörige der Opfer, Mitschüler und
Vertreter der jüdischen Gemeinde von Toulouse zugegen. In ihren kurzen
