The scientific program with focus on pituitary and
skull base tumors, aneurysm pathophysiology
and prognosis, treatment of brain metastases and
recurrent gliomas, and minimalyl invasive spine
surgery as well as trauma and tumors of the spine,
is spread throughout all three congress days. New
results from other areas of neurosurgery will also
be presented in thematically arranged sessions.
The scientific program of the congress includes
an English spoken Friendship Meeting with the
Chinese Society of Neurosurgery. The contributions
of the Chinese delegation were selected independently
by the Chinese organizing committee. In
addition, thematically fitting attractive submissions
from the ranks of the DGNC were selected
for presentation during the Friendship Meeting.
Presentations from the fields of neuro-oncology,
skull base surgery and neurovascular surgery
are in the main focus of the Friendship Meeting.
We hope for an intense scientific and personal
exchange with colleagues of the Chinese Society of
Neurosurgery.
Additional highlights of the scientific program will
be complemented by the Presidential Symposium
with the theme Patient Individualized Neurosurgery
and the session Best presentations from the DGNC
sections. Furthermore, a wide choice of themed
morning and lunch seminars on questions of decision
making and new technological developments
will complete the program.
Once again the well-established Educational
Day is offered as a pre-congress meeting with
experts providing a refresher and update in the
core matters of neurosurgery. Current treatment
options and indications as well as aspects of
interdisciplinary care will be addressed. The
Educational Day shall be attended not only by
neurosurgeons but also by general practitioners
colleagues of neighbor disciplines.
We wish you a stimulating exchange of knowledge
with colleagues and friends and especially an
exciting Sino-German Friendship Meeting.
Co-President
Dear Colleagues,
It is my great privilege to welcome you to the
2013 Sino-German Friendship Meeting, as a joint
meeting of the 64th Annual Meeting of the German
Society of Neurosurgery (DGNC), which will take
place in Düsseldorf, Germany from 26th to 29th
May, 2013.
This is the annual meeting for specialists in both
Germany and China dedicated to all aspects of
neurosurgery. We welcome all neurosurgeons,
neurologists, basic and translational scientists,
neuro-pathologists, radiologists, psychologists,
rehabilitation workers, nurses and all professionals
involved in the care and welfare of people with
diseases of the central nervous system.
It has already been the 8th year since the premier
meeting of Sino-German Friendship meeting.
From a humble start with only 20 participants 8
years ago, the friendship meeting grows. In the
recent past few years, there has been a tremendous
growing awareness among neurosurgeons in China
to participate in this meeting and we strive to
include many more in the future. Indeed we now
heartily welcome our friends and colleagues from
both China and Germany to join us as well in this
meeting, which will strengthen the society and
help to fulfill some of its aims and objectives.
The organizing committee is working hard to
make the meeting a successful one including
an interesting scientific programme, which will
include invited talks, plenary sessions, oral
presentations, and poster viewing. The DGNC has
also kindly offered scholarships for Chinese young
neurosurgeons to participate and experience this
great event. We very much appreciate all these kind
efforts.
The 2013 Sino-German Friendship meeting
will be held in the historical city Düsseldorf, a
perfect symbol of traditional German culture and
hospitality. This city is the birth place of the great
German poet Heinrich Heine. There will also be
plenty of tourist attractions of the city and the
nearby vicinity.
On behalf of all members of the organizing committees
of 2013 Sino-German Friendship Meeting, we
eagerly look forward to welcoming you all to this
meeting in Düsseldorf!
