Life is meaningful if woven from happy moments 

that we manage to separate from the busy everyday 

life and share it with those we love. The 

mission of Istraturist Umag for the past 40 years 

has been to create many happy moments that we can 

offer our guests during their holiday in top quality hotels, 

campsites and resorts with other facilities located along 

a 45 km long Umag Riviera. It is an honour to be at source 

of so many smiles and warm memories, 

guests’ satisfaction being an inexhaustible inspiration and a 

challenge that stimulates us continuously to be even better, 

more inventive and more at service to our dear guests. 

In this first UMAGazine edition, we would like to convey 

the breath of the beauty of our charming Mediterranean 

town of Umag and the whole Istrian peninsula, and to 

bring you the possibilities you can enjoy here. We will 

therefore present you the new luxurious Istrian Villas, the 

legendary ATP tournament - one of the most attractive 

tournaments in the world, oenological and gastronomic 

specialties from the area and wellness in the “Istrian” way. 

The surroundings of Umag is impressive and it is our pleasure 

to urge you to take the exciting trip to the inlands 

or in the direction of Grožnjan, a town that had inspired 

many artists. We particularly cherish family values, so we

Mediterranean holiday... The thought itself makes the imagination 

go wild with aromatic lavender and sunflower fields, 

crystal blue sea, vineyards, olives, grilled fish, luscious wines 

and evenings scented with fig, sage and rosemary. Always and forever 

– Mediterranean is among favourite holiday destinations. 

Mentioning the Mediterranean, we usually visualize the south of Spain, 

Côte d’Azur, Greece, Tuscany… yet witnessing the different, still undiscovered 

part of it is an unimaginable pleasure. Croatian peninsula 

of Istria has been promoting the true Mediterranean experience for 

years under the slogan “Green Mediterranean” and “Mediterranean as 

it used to be”. And indeed, Istria is a place abundant in tradition, authentic 

experience, enchanting gastronomy, coastal tourism, clear sea 

and green inland rich in history. 

The first destination at the northern entrance to Istria conquers with 

its allure, diversity and richness of the offer. It is Umag, a little town 

which with about 45 km of the coast line and interesting hinterland 

integrates special features of the whole region and might be the best 

introduction into a different experience of the Mediterranean. 

Umag’s history is extremely interesting; it was discovered by Roman 

noblemen who decided to make it their summer residence. The glamour, 

magnificence and glare of the times can be seen today in Venetian 

houses of the old town – city walls and fortresses are partially preserved 

as well as some renaissance and baroque buildings and churches… 

The hinterland reveals beautiful hills with fortifications that offer us 

magnificent scenery and marvellous history, abundance of autochthonous 

agricultural specialties and friendly hosts. This place is also famous 

for the wine roads, among the most popular in Croatia, with 22 

established wine producers. Olive roads are also fun to explore and 

to find out a lot about the processing of this highly appreciated fruit, 

as well as taste its products! 

Sea in Umag is crystal clear and suitable for swimming from May 

till October. What’s most important is that tourism has significantly 

developed in the last several years so the destination has many new 

top quality facilities to offer (three or four stars), luxurious as well as 

family oriented hotels, villas, suites or ecology campsites. These are all 

designed according to the intrinsic spirit of nature and “Mediterranean 

as is used to be”. 

Ein Urlaub am Mittelmeer... Allein bei diesem Gedanken beginnen in 

der Fantasie die wohlriechenden Lavendel- und Sonnenblumenfelder, 

das christallblaue Meer, Weinberge, Oliven, Fisch vom Grill, berauschender 

Wein, Abende mit Gerüchen von Feigen, Salbei und Rosmarin... zu 

spielen. Schon immer war und bleibt der Mittelmeerraum eines der beliebtesten 

Urlaubsziele. 

Und während beim ersten Gedanken an den Mittelmeerraum die meisten den 

Süden Spaniens, die Azurküste, Griechenland, die Toscana... vor Augen haben, 

ist es ein Vergnügen, Zeuge des Daseins eines anderen, noch unentdeckten 

Teils zu werden. Die kroatische Halbinsel Istrien wirbt seit Jahren für 

wahre mediterrane Erlebnisse mit den Slogans “der grüne Mittelmeerraum” 

und “der Mittelmeerraum, wie er einst war”. Und es ist wirklich so, Istrien ist 

ein Ort voller Tradition, authentischer Erlebnisse, verlockender Gastronomie, 

einer touristisch entwickelten Küste mit klarem Meer und eines grünen, an 

Geschichte reichen Innlands. 

Bereits die Einfahrt nach Istrien vom Norden her begeistert durch Charme, 

Angebotsvielseitigkeit und -reichtum. Die Rede ist von Umag, dem Städtchen, 

das mit seiner 45 km langen Küste und Hinterland die Besonderheiten der 

ganzen Region synthetisiert, und es ist wohl die beste Einführung in ein anderes 

Erlebnis des Mittelmeerraumes. 

Umag hat eine interessante Geschichte: der römische Adel hat die Stadt entdeckt 

und sich dazu entschlossen, sie als Sommerresidenz zu erobern. Der Glanz, 

die Pracht und der Glamour jener Zeit glänzt heute noch durch die venezianischen 

Häuser des alten Stadtkerns – erhalten blieben Teile der Stadtmauer 

und Türme, aber auch Gebäude und Kirchen aus der Renaissance und dem 

Barock... Im Hinterland trifft man auf wunderschöne befestigte Städchen auf 

Hügeln mit unglaublicher Aussicht und von beeindruckender Vergangenheit, wie 

auch auf eine Vielzahl an Agrotourismus mit autochthonen Delikatessen und 

freundlichen Gastgebern. Ebenfalls liegt hier eine der berühmtesten Weinstraßen 

von Kroatien mit 22 bekannten Weinherstellern, und es ist ein Vergnügen, die 

Olivenwege zu erkunden, wobei man viel über die Herstellung und Verarbeitung 

dieser Frucht durch entsprechende Kostproben erfahren kann! 

Das Meer von Umag ist christallklar und eignet sich von Mai bis Oktober 

zum Baden. Und was am allerwichtigsten ist: in den letzten Jahren entwickelte 

sich der Tourismus enorm, und es gibt ein reiches Angebot an qualitativer 

Unterkunft (3 – 4 Sterne), sei die Rede von Luxus- oder familiär orientierten 

Hotels, Villen, Apartments, oder von Ökocampingplätzen. Und alles in Einklang 

mit dem wahren Naturgeist und dem Mittelmeerraum, wie er einst war.

Stella Maris has become a recognizable tourist apartment 

village. Every July the tennis elite gather here 

at one of the best organized ATP tournaments. And it 

has been like that for the past 18 years… However, 

while some other stars are untouchable it is quite common 

here to have your coffee next to a world famous 

sport star or celebrity, with always both cosy and 

entertaining vibes… Thanks to the Tennis Centre the 

white sport lovers can try their luck at the central court 

where players from the world TOP 10 list have played 

their matches. The whole apartment village has a lot 

to offer, including diving centre, light aircrafts centre, 

a port for small boats, golf driving range etc.

Inspiration for Artists 

Eine Inspiration für Künstler 

Above the former Venetian port Bastia, almost 300 

meters high, above the fertile valley of the river 

Mirna, in area called the Green Istria, lies a unique 

Istrian town – Grožnjan. It is a place proudly bearing 

the name – the City of Artists. 

This medieval little town allures the hidden artist from each 

its visitor. Even if you never thought that you could write or 

paint something, Grožnjan and its motifs will wake up and 

inspire the dormant artistic spirit inside of you. 

Today Grožnjan is a living town with the identity card permanently 

marked by the spirit of artists from all over the 

world, each in its own way, forever impressed in its foundations. 

It hasn’t always been so though. It takes lots of love, 

persistence and enthusiasm, but above all a vision, to create 

a history and to conquer the obstacles of the circumstances 

and of the time… 

Über dem einstigen venezianischen Hafen Bastia, auf einer 

Höhe von fast 300 Metern über dem fruchtbaren Tal 

des Flusses Mirna, in der Region genannt “das grüne 

Istrien” liegt das istrische Städtchen Grožnjan. Das ist 

ein Ort, der sich heute mit dem Beiwort rühmt – Stadt der Künstler. 

Ein Besuch dieses mittelalterlichen Städtchens verleitet jeden seiner 

Besucher dazu, zum Künstler zu werden. Selbst wenn Sie niemals 

von sich gedacht hätten, dass Sie etwas schreiben oder malen 

könnten, werden Grožnjan und seine Motive Ihren eingeschlafenen 

Schöpfungsgeist inspirieren. Heutzutage ist Grožnjan ein lebendiges 

Städchen, das durch den Geist gekennzeichnet ist, den Künstler 

aus aller Welt, jeder auf seine Art, tief in seine Fundamente eingeprägt 

haben. Allerdings war das nicht immer so, um Geschichte 

zu schaffen, war viel Liebe, Hartnäckigkeit und Enthusiasmus 

nötig, doch vor allem auch eine Vision, die alle Hindernisse der 

momentanen Umstände überschreitet. Und die Zeit... 

Half a century ago Grožnjan was a dying town. Its façades and 

buildings were left at the mercy of the time. There were only 

few families left who lived there and kept the weak heart of 

this picturesque town beating. That is when it happened. The 

beautiful little town was suddenly breathed in a new live! 

A few enthusiasts and visionaries led by the sculptor Aleksandar 

Rukavina called Žohar (Cockroach) started the initiative and in 

1965 the town was officially declared the City of Artists. 

Artists and bohemians from all over the world moved into 

the abandoned buildings, given to them to use for life under 

one condition – to open a gallery or an atelier. The spirit of 

the town began to breathe the fresh air of the artists’ sensibility, 

the façades and interiors got a new look and Aleksandar 

Rukavina was presented with the town keys. 

After the visual arts paved the way, in 1969 Grožnjan hosted 

music, too. A new International cultural centre of Croatian

vom Aussterben bedroht war, seine Fassaden und Gebäude blieben 

der Zeit überlassen, und lediglich ein paar Familien, die es weiterhin 

bewohnten, erhielten dieses malerischen Städtchen am Leben. Und 

dann geschah eine Wende. In dieses wunderschöne Städtchen hauchte 

während seines Verschwindens auf einmal neues Leben ein. 

Einige Enthusiasten und Visionäre, mit dem Bildhauer Aleksandar 

Rukavina an der Spitze, setzten eine Initiative in Bewegung, und 

die Stadt wurde 1965 offiziell zur Stadt der Künstler benannt. 

Künstler und Leute aus Künstlerkreisen von überall her zogen in die 

verlassenen Gebäude ein, die sie zur lebenslangen Nutzung bekommen 

haben, unter einer Bedingung – eine Galerie oder ein Attelier 

zu eröffnen. Der Stadtgeist hat begonnen, durch eine neue Lunge 

zu atmen, durch die Sensibilität der Künstler wurden Fassaden und 

Innenausstattungen authentisch restauriert, und Aleksandar Rukavina 

übernahm die Schlüssel der Stadt. 


UMAG NEARBY GROŽNJAN 

Music Youth (HGM) was funded that year together with 

the Summer Music Camp founded by “Jeunesses Musicales 

International”, a UNESCO organization which represents the 

most important world cultural organization of young musicians. 

The centre offered the young people from all parts of 

the world the possibility to learn and improve, to exchange 

experience and to be together. Courses were held by top 

world musicians every year, for different instruments (violin, 

cello, contrabass, piano, harp, flute etc.), together with 

chamber music courses, sound engineers, Bing Bang festival, 

the winds academy etc. During the last 35 years the 

cultural centre in Grožnjan hosted over 10 000 musicians 

from 58 countries. 

The last to join the Grožnjan artistic tradition were jazz 

musicians. The International Jazz Festival – “Jazz is back” 

is the synergy of the Croatian jazz master Boško Petrović, 

Croatian Musician Youth and the city of Grožnjan. For the

Jugendlichen aus der ganzen Welt Lern- und Fortbildungsmöglichkeiten, 

den Erfahrungsaustausch und Freundschaften bietet. Jedes Jahr finden 

unter der Leitung von erstklassigen Weltmusikern Kurse für einzelne 

Musikinstrumente statt, wie auch Kurse der Kammermusik, Werkstätten 

für Tonmeister, das Festival Big Bang, eine Blasakedemie... Während 

der letzten 35 Jahre nahmen am Kulturzentrum der Musikjugend in 

Grožnjan über 10.000 Teilnehmer aus 58 Ländern teil. 

Eine der letzten, die sich in die Tradition der künstlerischen 

Schöpfung von Grožnjan eingetragen haben, waren die Jazzer. Das 

Internationale Jazz Festival “Jazz is back” ist eine Synergie zwischen 

den Freundschaften des kroatischen Jazzmeisters Boško Petrović, 

last 8 years at the end of July and the beginning of August 

the stony Grožnjan streets have been filled with music and 

at the stage numerous Croatian and world jazz artists, Jazz 

School students, Big Band and many others present their artistic 

skills. 

The legion of tourists occupies the seats at the “Balvan City”

the stars. In the cosmopolitan atmosphere the universal 

language of the music, the language understood by the artists 

as well as the visitors, takes over… 

It has been over 40 years since the spirits of the art saved 

Grožnjan from dying and its streets still echo with the sounds 

of cello, piano, violin and oboe…the sounds of jazz… There 

is no alley with at least two galleries you can visit and reach 

for the omnipresent grains of inspiration.

The town of Umag is proud of the fact that its tennis courts every year 

entertain the International Tennis Championship of Croatia, known as 

ATP Studena Croatia Open Umag. The unique shell-shape of the central 

stadium situated next to the beach and the well balanced combination 

of tourism, economy and excellent sport became the symbol of 

Umag and the recognizable picture of Croatia.

In the last eighteen years, the Umag ATP tournament 

became the synonym for one of the most interesting 

professional male tournaments in Europe in the ATP 

organization International series class. It has been 

going on since 1990, and during the war it was the 

only international event organized in Croatia broadcasted 

by the Eurosport. Not many tournaments in this 

category can be proud to have entertained so many 

names from the world tennis elite: Thomas Muster, 

Gustavo Kuerten, Marcelo Rios, Carlos Moya, Alberto 

Berasategui, Filippo Volandri, Novak Djoković, Ivan 

Ljubičić, David Ferrer, and Guillermo Canas. 

Yet, Umag is not only about tennis. Year after year, 

main tennis events are accompanied by rich and attractive 

programmes intended for various types of guests

Over the years, the interest of journalists and photographs 

has significantly grown, so “if you thought of 

buying the tickets this time last year, you are probably 

already late today. Check, there still might be few 

left, but we are not making any promises” says Slavko 

Rasberger, the manager of the Umag ATP tournament 

(ATP Studena Croatia Open Umag 2008).

Where did the Bell-Tower from the Old Town go? 

Wohin ist der Glockenturm der Altstadt gezogen? 

Hotel Sol Garden Istra (4*) captures with its 

specific architecture. The original details of the 

Istrian-Mediterranean architecture integrated in 

the interior create an original bond of the modern 

and traditional, the hotel lobby becoming less and 

less an entrance place and more a place of meetings, a 

real Istrian open old town square. 

The exterior is also impressive. The paved path surrounded 

by rock gardens and aromatic plants leads to the 

higher ground plateau which holds all Istrian small town 

elements with its rural architecture. Like a mysterious rivulet, 

the water flows from the basin through several levels 

and pours over all the way to the hotel entrance.

Old Istrian houses, regionally called “hiža” are real beauties 

built in stone. With roofs covered with red roofingtiling, 

wooden old-style window shutters in green or blue, 

and windows framed with white stone arches. All give 

them a special flare. House entrances reveal “baladur” 

– arched parts of the entrance into the residential part of 

the house. The original Istrian “hiža” of Sol Garden Istra 

hotel houses the animation space, and loggia integrates a 

snack restaurant which sends off tempting flavours…

Alte istrische Häuser sind wahre Schönheiten, die aus Stein erbaut 

sind, mit rötlichen Ziegeln überdacht, und einen besonderen Charme 

verleihen ihnen die Fensterläden aus Holz in lebendigen grünen 

oder blauen Farben, sowie Fenster, die mit weißem Stein umrahmt 

sind. Am Hauseingang trifft man auf “Baladur” - einen überdachten

Durch das Tal von Mirna bis nach Hum, die kleinste Stadt der Welt 

When you come to Istria, it would be a real pity to 

miss a unique experience of the Istrian peninsula 

landscape. Going away from the coast and deeper 

into the inland, you will find many hidden 

nooks. Take a trip with us, for to peek into the Istrian inland 

means to discover the complex Istrian history, untouched nature, 

simple people… It means to visit isolated medieval towns 

whose streets and houses invite you into their silence. 

Have an early start with your own car, down the road leading 

from Umag to Buje. You can make your first stop here, 

for this is the spot with the second most magnificent Istrian 

panorama view, after Učka – the roof of the Istrian peninsula. 

From Buje continue down the old road towards Pula. 

Just follow it and it will lead you to the river Mirna valley, 

where you have to turn left in direction of Motovun, Buzet, 

Rijeka, Učka tunnel… Follow the valley all the way to Hum, 

your destination for this trip. You’ll be amazed at the halfan-hour 

drive through the valley, hills passing by hiding the 

precious little towns…

Fahren Sie morgens los, am besten mit dem eigenen Auto, von Umag 

aus die Straße Richtung Buje entlang. Hier können Sie bereits erste 

Rast machen, denn es bis nach Učka, dem Gipfel Istriens, keine schönere 

Aussicht gibt. Nach Buje setzen Sie Ihre Fahrt fort die alte Straße 

Richtung Pula entlang. Hier entlang gelangen Sie hinunter in das Tal 

des Flusses Mirna. Wenn Sie unten am Fluss angelangt sind, biegen Sie 

links ab, Richtung Motovun, Buzet, Rijeka, Tunell Učka... Durch das 

Tal von Mirna bis nach Hum, dem Ziel unseres heutigen Ausflugs, fährt 

man etwa eine halbe Stunde, und die ganze Zeit werden kleine Hügel 

um Sie herum auftauchen, und auf den Hügeln kleine Städte... 

The most picturesque experience of all is the sight of Motovun, 

one of the most visited inland towns. According to the legend, 

it was built by giants who collected stones from the valley. 

The whole town is actually a monument, and its actual appearance 

dates back to the medieval times. At the end of July 

this little town turns into an open-air cinema and its streets 

echo with the sounds of the most recent European movies. 

Motovun Film Festival makes sure there’s plenty of fun these 

five days. The road from Motovun passes by the Istrian 

spa where the valley gets narrow more and more reminding 

of a canyon and the river Mirna returns to its natural meandering 

water course. The landscape is unique here. On both 

sides there are cliffs hiding the caves, each cave being of 

different shape… The next little town on the road is Buzet. 

It is an old town in a hill watching over its new residential 

area at the hill bottom. Buzet is a small industrial centre 

of Istria and a home of Istrian beer, truffles and car races. 

Every second Sunday in September there is “Subotina” festival, 

with the biggest attraction – a huge “fritaja” (scrambled

aus dem Mittelalter. Ende Juli gestaltet sich dieses Städtchen in ein 

Open-Air-Kino um, und durch seine Straßen schallen Geräusche neuester 

europäischen Filme... natürlich fehlt es in den fünf Tagen des Motovun 

Film Festivals nicht an Unterhaltung. Nach Motovun führt Sie die Straße 

an dem Kurbad Istarske toplice vorbei. An dieser Stelle verengt sich das 

Tal und ähnelt immer mehr einer Schlucht, und der Fluss Mirna kehrt 

in sein natürliches Flussbett zurück. Hier ist die Landschaft einzigartig. 

Beidseitig erheben sich Felsen, in den Felsen Grotten, und jede Grotte 

hat eine andere Form... Das nächste Städtchen, das Sie antreffen werden, 

ist Buzet. Dieses alte Städtchen erhebt sich wieder auf einem Hügel, 

wobei die Wohnsiedlungen und der neuere Teil von Buzet am Bergfuß 

liegen. Buzet ist ein kleines istrisches Industriezentrum, aber auch die 

Stadt des istrischen Biers, der Trüffel und des Autorennens. Hier befindet 

sich die einzige Brauerei von Istrien. Jedes Jahr, am zweiten Sonntag im 

September, feiert man “Subotina“, ein Fest, dessen größte Attraktion “Fritaja“

In the immediate vicinity of Hum there 

is a small picturesque village of Kotle, 

that experience it’s new revival after 

being completely desolated, known for 

its water-mills and the waterfall. 

In unmittelbarer Nähe von Hum befindet 

sich auch das kleine malerische Dorf 

Kotle, in das langsam das Leben wieder 

zurückkehrt, nachdem es vollkommen 

verlassen war. Es ist bekannt für seine 

Wassermühlen und seinen Wasserfall.

Roč, einem Städtchen, das unter 

Kulturdenkmalschutz steht...

the year (2008). The Sunday after that, cars test their strength 

on the winding roads of the Buzet area. On your way to 

Hum or back you can stop here and take a walk or have fun 

at either of these events worth visiting. 

From Buzet proceed towards Rijeka and the Učka tunnel. As 

you climb up you’ll reach the part of Istria called Ćićarija, the 

istrian hilly part. At the crossroads you’ll leave Roč on your 

left, a little town declared a cultural heritage as you’ll visit 

it on your way back, and turn right towards Hum. You will 

see large stony sculptures laid up along the road from Roč 

to Hum. They are monuments on the “Glagolitic Alley” and 

represent the roots of Glagolitic script, an Old Slavic script of 

Croats. The Alley will lead you to the Hum town gate…

Manifestationen sind einen Besuch wert, und hier kann man anhalten 

und spazieren gehen.Von Buzet aus fahren Sie weiter die Straße 

entlang Richtung Rijeka und dem Tunnel Učka. Jetzt sind Sie bereits 

in dem Teil von Istrien, wo Ćićarija beginnt, die istrische Gebirgskette. 

Fahren Sie die Straße weiter entlang bis zur Kreuzung. An der linken 

Seite lassen Sie Roč, ein Städtchen, das unter Kulturdenkmalschutz 

steht und das Sie auf dem Rückweg besichtigen können... Und Sie 

biegen rechts ab, Richtung Hum... An der Straße entlang, die nach 

Roč Richtung Hum führt, reihen sich große Steingebilde an. Das sind 

Mahnmale der Glagolitischen Allee, ein Denkmal, das die Wurzel der 

glagolitischen Schrift darstellt, der altslawischen Schrift der Kroaten. 

Die Allee führt Sie bis zum Tor der Stadt Hum... 

Hum 

Here we are, in Hum, a little place bearing 

the title of the smallest city in the world. 

According to the legend, Hum was built with the stones left 

over when giants were building towns in the river Mirna valley. 

It is situated in the centre of Istria with barely 20 inhabitants. 

Despite such a small number of residents it preserved the old 

ritual “Election of the prefect for a year” when all the men 

from the parish gather at the Municipal Loggia to elect the 

village superior by carving their votes into a wooden stick. 

Inside the preserved city walls there are two small streets with 

three rows of houses. Today, Hum is a city-monument, one of 

the rare examples of the urban development within the city 

walls. Apart from being famous for being the smallest city 

in the world, recently it became popular for “biska”, brandy 

Glagolitic Alley Die Glagolitische Allee 

The Glagolitic Alley is 7 km long and leads from Roč to Hum. It comprises 11 

commemorative headstones representing the development and Croatian roots of 

the Glagolitic script, especially in Istria. It starts with “The column of the Chakavian 

gathering”, erected in 1977. The commemorative headstones are lying along 

the road all the way to Hum, the last monument being the town gates. The gates 

are made of copper, with two wings which are very heavy and ornamented with 

twelve medallions with scenes from everyday village life, with ox-horn shaped 

handles and the door-knockers with welcoming words inscribed in them. 

Die Glagolitische Allee ist 7 km lang, führt von Roč nach Hum und umfasst 11 

Denkmale, die die Entwicklung und die geschichtlichen Wurzeln der glagolitischen 

Schrift bei den Kroaten darstellen, besonders in Istrien. Die Allee beginnt an der 

Säule der Čakavischen Volksversammlung, die im Jahre 1977 aufgestellt wurde. 

Weiterhin angereiht sind Denkmale entlang der Straße bis ganz nach Hum, und 

in Hum endet sie mit dem letzten Denkmal – dem Stadttor. Das Tor von Hum 

ist aus Kupfer, zweiflüglig, schwer, festlich. Die Türklinken haben die Form von 

Ochsenhörnern, und am Türklopfer stehen Willkommensworte. Im oberen Teil sind 

im Halbkreis zwölf Medaillons mit Szenen aus dem Dorfleben aufgestellt. 

Hum 

Nun sind wir am Ziel angekommen, in Hum, dem Städtchen, 

das sich mit dem Beiwort der kleinsten Stadt der Welt rühmt. 

Der Legende nach enstand Hum, als die Riesen die Städte im Tal 

von Mirna erbaut haben, und aus den restlichen Steinen haben sie 

zuletzt Hum erbaut. Es befindet sich in Zentralistrien und hat gerade 

noch etwa 20 Einwohner. Trotz der kleinen Einwohnerzahl von 

Hum, blieb bis zum heutigen Tage die Tradition der “jährlichen Wahl 

des Gespans“ erhalten, einem Akt, wobei alle Männer der Stadt den 

Dorfvorsteher wählen, und zwar so, dass sie ihre Stimmen in einen 

Holzstab einritzen. Innerhalb der Stadtmauer liegen zwei kleine 

Gassen und drei Häuserreihen. Hum ist heute eine Denkmalstadt, 

eines der selten erhaltenen Beispiele urbaner Entwicklung innerhalb 

der Stadtmauer. Außer seiner Bekanntheit als die kleinste Stadt 

der Welt ist Hum seit kurzem auch bekannt als Stadt des istrischen

Nähe von Hum befindet sich auch das kleine malerische Dorf Kotle, 

in das langsam das Leben wieder zurückkehrt, nachdem es vollkommen 

verlassen war. Es ist bekannt für seine Wassermühlen und seinen 

Wasserfall. 

Dieses Städtchen, das gerade einmal eine angenehme Autostundenfahrt 

von Umag entfernt ist, kann Ihren Ausflug in eine schöne Geschichte 

über istrische Städtchen verwandeln... Dieses verborgene Gebiet ist ausgesprochen 

gesellig für unbeabsichtigte Ausflügler. Parkplätze gibt es immer, 

und selbst in der touristischen Hochsaison gibt es keinen Stau.

Istrian history was turbulent. The stormy times used to 

bring along even existential problems over the past centuries 

so housewives often had to use all their imagination

Istrian spring is specific for the plain, yet exceptionally tasty and 

curative fruit – asparagus. The search for it sometimes sets off 

whole colonies of pickers who enjoy the walk through the beautiful 

Istrian groves and gather the material for the meal – usually 

the delicious “fritaja” – scrambled eggs with asparagus. 

Winter brings another king of delicacies: soup to refresh the 

body and the mind, “ombolo” or loin roast and sausages with 

sauerkraut, dishes with venison, Istrian prosciutto in red wine. 

Evenings spent in taverns are exceptionally beautiful, with songs 

and talks by the fire crackling in the fireplace. 

To present the Istrian gastronomy is rather demanding task, as 

pages and pages could be written on the subject, stories could 

be told and there would still be some forgotten detail left, 

some taste or smell worth adoration. The best thing to do is 

to come here and see it for yourselves. Visit Istria and give all 

your senses a treat! 

Die Geschichte Istriens ist stürmisch. Genau diese stürmischen 

Zeiten haben in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten 

mit sich existenzielle Probleme gebracht, und genau

Wenn man diese, jahrelang entwickelte kreative Komponente 

mit zahlreichen spezifischen Früchten der mediterranen Natur und 

des Mittelmeers zusammenkoppelt, wird einem klar warum die 

istrische Küche einzigartig und so köstlich ist. Jede Jahreszeit 

bringt mit sich eigene Delikatessen. Im Sommer genießt man 

leichte mediterrane Leckerbissen, am besten schmecken frische 

Meeresfrüchte: Fische, Muscheln, Krabben, Calamari, Tintenfisch 

– frisch aus dem Meer und auf verschiedene Weise vorbereitet, 

auf jeden Fall mit mediterranen Gewürzen und Olivenöl... 

Herbst ist vielleicht die meist spezifische istrische Gastrozeit. Das 

ist Zeit einer der angesehensten Leckerbissen – aphrodisische 

Trüffel, ein Knollengewächse, das unter der Erde wächst, und 

das mehr als Gold wert ist. Zu seiner Ehre werden zahlreiche 

Festivals und kulinarische Events organisiert. 

Istrische Frühlinge sind für, scheinbar nicht angesehene, aber trotzdem 

sehr geschmackvolle und heilbare Frucht spezifisch – den 

Spargel. Die Suche nach dieser Pflanze mobilisiert manchmal ganze 

Kolonien von Spargelstechern, die den Spaziergang durch herrliche 

istrische Wäldchen genießen, und dabei Kochzutaten sammeln 

– am häufigsten für eine köstliche Spargelfrittata. 

Der Winter bringt Leckerbissen wie: traditionelle istrische Suppe 

Manestra, die Geist und Körper aufmuntert, getrockneter Ombolo 

(Schweinskaree) und Wurst mit Sauerkraut, Wildbraten, istrischer 

Räucherschinken mit Rotweinsuppe aufgegossen. Besonders schön 

sind die Abende, die man in Tavernen verbringt, gefolgt vom 

Gesang und Unterhaltung, neben knisterndem Kaminfeuer. 

Es ist anspruchsvoll, die istrische Küche vorzustellen, denn 

man könnte endlos darüber schreiben, zahlreiche Geschichten 

erzählen, und trotzdem gäbe es ein unerwähntes, bewundernswertes 

Detail, Geschmack oder Wohlgeruch. Deswegen empfehlt 

sich, hierher zu kommen und sich persönlich von den 

hervorragenden Geschmäcken zu überzeugen. Verwöhnen Sie

UMAG DELICIOUS MARE E MONTI 

We are pleased to present to you 

some of the finest dishes of the famous Umag 

restaurant Mare e Monti, prepared with original Istrian food. 

Wir stellen einige der köstlichsten Gerichten des renommierten 

Umager Restaurants Mare e Monti vor, zubereitet aus 

authentischen istrischen Lebensmitteln. 

MEDITERRANEAN 

AS IT USED TO BE 

Ingredients (for 2 persons): 

300g shrimps (gutted), 60g hard sheep-milk cheese, 

100g arugula, 50g tomatoes, olive oil, lemon juice, 

white wine, salt, pepper 

Fresh Adriatic shrimps need to be gutted and marinated in 

Leccino olive oil, salt, white pepper and lemon juice and leave 

for a while. The smallest and softest arugula leaves are 

to be dressed like lettuce (olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice), 

put on the marinated shrimps, pour over with the marinade 

and grate at choice with sheep-milk cheese. Before serving 

decorate it with fried tomatoes. 

MITTELMEER 

WIE ES EINST WAR 

Zutaten (für 2 Personen): 

300g geschälte Scampi, 60g harter Ziegenkäse, 

100g Rucola, 50g Tomaten, Olivenöl, Zitronensaft, 

Weißwein, Salz, Pfeffer 

Frische adriatische Scampi schälen und in Marinade aus 

Olivenöl Sorte Leccino, Salz, Weißwein und Zitronensaft einlegen. 

Liegen lassen. Rucolablätter aussondern und die kleinsten 

und weichsten Blätter auswählen und als Salat würzen 

(Olivenöl, Salz, Pfeffer, Zitronensaft). Rukola auf marinierte 

Scampi legen, mit Marinade übergießen, Ziegenkäse reiben 

und mit gebratenen Tomaten dekorieren. 


UMAG DELICIOUS MARE E MONTI 

A VIEW OF THE

30g of truffles, 100g of edible bolete, 200g home made 

“fuži” (traditional twisted noodles), truffle oil, butter, 

cream, gravy, onion, parsley, salt, pepper 

Chop the onion and fry it on butter and olive oil. As it gets 

softer add chopped Istrian prosciutto. After that add the bolete 

cut into stripes and fry them on the onions and the prosciutto. 

Add salt, pepper and parsley add the gravy and cooking 

cream. At the end grate over the truffles and add some truffle 

oil. Cook home made “fuži” al dente and mix with the 

sauce. Serve warm. 

AUSSICHT AUF DEN 

MOTOVUNER BERG 


30g Trüffel, 100g Pilze, 200g einheimische Pasta Fuži, 

Trüffelöl, Butter, Rahm, Brühe, Zwiebel, Petersilie, Salz, Pfeffer 

Zwiebel fein würfeln und auf Butter und Olivenöl anbraten. Wenn 

Zwiebel weich ist, istrischen Räucherschinken gewürfelt hinzufügen. 

Danach noch Pilze, in Streifen geschnitten, hinzufügen 

und auf Zwiebel und Räucherschinken braten. Mit Salz, Pfeffer 

und Petersilie würzen, Brühe hinzufügen (dunkle) sowie ein bisschen 

Crème fraîche. Am Ende Trüffel reiben und ein bisschen 

Trüffelöl hinzufügen. Fuži halbkochen und in Soße einmischen. 

Warm servieren. 

GHNOCCHI

300g gnocchi, 130 g shrimps (gutted), 

130 g asparagus, butter, fish stock, olive oil,

Warm up the butter and the olive oil and fry gutted shrimps. 

Add half-cooked asparagus heads, pour over with fish stock 

and spice with salt, pepper, parsley, garlic and sage. Leave 

to boil. Cook the gnocchi in salty water and mix with the 

prepared sauce. Decorate with asparagus and shrimps and 

serve warm.

300g Gnocchi, 130 g geschälte Scampi, 130 g Spargel, 

Butter, Fischbrühe, Olivenöl, Salz, Petersilie, Pfeffer, 

Knoblauch, Salbei 

Butter und Olivenöl aufwärmen und darin geschälte Scampi 

braten. Halbgekochte Spargelspitzen hinzufügen, alles mit 

Fischbrühe übergießen und mit Salz, Pfeffer, Petersilie, 

Knoblauch und Salbei würzen. Kochen lassen. Gnocchi in 

Salzwasser kochen und in Soße einmischen. Mit Spargeln 

und Scampi dekorieren und warm servieren.

The history of Kabola wines is intertwined with the 

roots of the Markežić family tree and with their 

heritage and tradition. The name Kabola is a long 

forgotten name of the family, who has raised cattle 

and cultivated land since the ancient times. Since 1891. 

they also made wine. The caterer and wine producer Marino 

Markežić is the third generation of the family and he continues 

his ancestors’ heritage, deeply appreciating the past 

and tradition, in the same time bravely turning to the future 

of wine production. 

The ideal position of this region and the surrounding hills 

turned towards the sunny south-west are prerequisites and 

the secret of the excellent wines. In the immediate vicinity 

of the world known wine region the red and grey Istrian soils 

are brought together and give the wines this special flare 

of aromatic abundance. In the past the wines from Momjan 

Die Entstehungsgeschichte der Kabola Weine ist verflochten 

mit den Wurzeln des Stammbaums der Familie 

Markežić, mit Ihrer Erbe und Tradition. Der Name 

Kabola ist eigentlich der vergessene Spitzname der 

Familie, die in der Umgebung von Momjan von alters her Landbau 

und Viehzucht betrieben hat, und die seit 1891 Wein herstellt. Der 

Gastwirt und Winzer Marino Markežić stellt die dritte Generation 

dieser Familie dar. Er setzt die Erbe seiner Vorfahren fort, mit 

Respekt für Vergangenheit und Tradition, gleichzeitig mit Mut 

gegenüber Zukunft in Weinherstellung. 

Die ideale Lage dieser Region und der umgebenden Hügeln, 

die sich in Richtung des sonnigen Westens ausstrecken, ist eine 

Voraussetzung und das Geheimnis der Herstellung ausgezeichneter 

Weine hier. In unmittelbarer Nähe der weltbekannten Weinregionen 

treffen aufeinander die rote und die graue istrische Erde, was den 

Weinen ein besonderes Reichtum an Aroma vermittelt. In der 

region were drunk at Austrian-Hungarian and Italian courts 

and Istrian Malvazija (malmsey), Teran, Merlot and 

Cabernet Sauvignon are typical sorts of this region of 

magic scents and colours. 

We have to mention “Momjanski muskat”, a truly special 

wine. It is a white sort that grows only on a limited 

area in Momjan region. Here Muškat dates back to 17th 

century and was brought here by settlers from Carnia, 

the Friuli region in Italy. During the centuries, thanks 

to the mild climate and rich soil, it gained almost perfect 

features. 

Marino Markežić was aware of the advantages of this soil 

so he combined the tradition of wine production and the 

modern ways in creating the “Kabola” brand, which once 

more put life into the product the family had been creating 

for years.

Am Anfang nutzen Sie einen Augenblick, um das Spiel der Farben und Nuancen 

im Glas zu genießen. Atmen Sie tief, denn die Nase und der Gaumen arbeiten

Sie noch einmal ein, dieses Mal durch den Mund, und während sich der Wein 

im Mund “wältzt”, kosten Sie ihn mit der Zunge. 

Vergangenheit wurden mit Weinen aus Momjanština österreichisch-ungarische 

und italienische Hofleute versorgt, und von alters her sind der 

Istrische Malvasier, Teran, Merlot und Cabernet Sauvignon mit ihren 

herrlichen Duften und Farben, typische Weinsorten dieser Region. 

Auch “Momjanski muškat” (Momjan Muskateller) ist ein ganz besonderer 

Wein. Es geht hier um eine Sorte der weißen Trauben, die 

auf dem begrenzten Gebiet von Momjanština wächst. Muskateller 

datiert aus dem XVII. Jahrhundert, und er wurde aus Carnia gebracht, 

Teil der italienischen Region Friuli. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte 

hat er sich dank den Besonderheiten des milden Klimas und Bodens 

fast perfekte Eigenschaften angeeignet. 

Aller Vorteile dieses Bodens bewusst, hat Marino Markežić harmonisch 

die Tradition in die Weinherstellung eingeblendet und so den 

Brand “Kabola” geschaffen, durch den er ein Produkt ins Leben 

gerufen hat, das von alters her die Familie mit eigener Mühe und 

Arbeit herstellt.

In May 2005, Kabola Wine-cellar was officially opened 

- the modern winery was built exactly where one of 

the most known wine producers used to produce wine 

about 80 years ago. The Markežić family bought and 

renovated the stony building. Today, there are rooms 

for wine tasting, a room for wine ageing in oak wood 

barrels and a museum of traditional Istrian village life 

style. Everything is built in the old Istrian style, respecting 

the tradition and nature in every detail. 

Wine production takes place here in one of the most 

modern wine cellars in Istria and in Croatia. The best 

domestic and foreign manufacturers equipped the cellar, 

and the most recent technologies were applied. 

The winery launched a new product. The new malmsey

sich nun die Verkostungssäle, das Saal für Weinreifung in Eichenfässern, 

und das Museum der istrischen Exponate, die von Geschichte des 

Dorflebens in Istrien zeugen. Alles ist im alten istrischen Stil gebaut, 

mit Rücksicht auf Tradition und Natur, und in jedem Detail kann man 

das traditionelle Leben eines Istriers miterfahren. 

Der Wein wird hier, in einem der modernsten Weinkeller in ganz Istrien 

und Kroatien hergestellt. Für den Bau wurden die besten einheimischen 

und ausländischen Ausstattungshersteller ausgewählt, auch die neuesten 

Technologien wurden benutzt. In Gefäßen aus Ton – die Amphoren 

wurde aus Georgien angeschafft – wurde auch mit der Herstellung des

from Georgia and presented to the public for the first 

time in May 2007. This is a unique project in this area 

and represents the idea of traditional wine production 

in the greatest possible synergy with nature. 

A brave step towards the old and simple, as well as a 

specific approach to the wine production, is the basic 

for the Kabola wine affirmation and refines this modern 

product. Wine lovers have recognized the special style 

of cultivating the wine. 

Kabola winery offers various wine and olive oil tasting 

programmes to groups upon request. There is also a 

shop within the winery which is open form Tuesday to 

Saturday, from 9 am to 4 pm.

sein, veredelnd auf diese Weise dieses moderne Produkt, dessen Stil 

der Kultivierung von Weinliebhabern schon erkannt wurde. 

Der Weinkeller Kabola bietet verschiedene Programme von Verkostung 

eigener Weine und Olivenöls für vorangemeldete Gruppen an. Im 

Rahmen des Weinkellers befindet sich auch ein Geschäft das von 

Dienstag bis Samstag von 9-16 Uhr geöffnet ist.

itself. It is believed that they were popular all 

the way back in the ancient Chinese culture, yet 

China wasn’t the only country that contributed 

to their development. When some 3 500 years ago wheel 

was invented in Babylon it probably didn’t take long to 

develop the first, primitive roulette. Ancient Greek soldiers 

were famous for their love of dice games … During the 

course of history the popular casino games got more and 

more sophisticated throughout Europe. In the beginning of 

the casino culture they were places for dancing, music and 

fun. In the second half of 19th century the word Casino 

is used for rooms intended for games. The word probably 

derives from Italian and means “a little house”.

aus italienischen Wurzeln und bedeutet “Häuschen“.

Long awaited holiday is the chance for a family 

to get together, to create memories of 

the moments spent together which children 

take with them as something dear and precious. 

Children always seek for new adventures so it is 

important to enable them the creative fun with 

their peers. If the fun is also educative, the more 

benefit it is for them. Not only that the value of 

their advancing and joy is priceless, but parents 

can also have the opportunity to spend some quality

From the early age children show great interest 

in exploring the world around them. The green 

and preserved nature of the Mediterranean, such 

as we can find in Umag, is a great basis for creation 

of the whole range of fun and educational 

activities which develop children’s sensitivity 

regarding the problems of the environment preservation.

dabei wichtig, sondern auch die Eltern bekommen 

ein paar Urlaubsmomente für sich. 

Kinder zeigen von klein auf Interesse zur Erforschung 

der Welt, sie lernen ihre Umgebung durch 

alle Sinne kennen, und die grüne Natur und der erhaltene 

Mittelmeerraum, den wir in Umag antreffen, 

sind eine gute Basis für das Schaffen unterhaltsamerzieherischer 

Öko-Aktivitäten, wodurch die kindliche 

Sensibilität für Umweltprobleme entwickelt 

wird. Ein berühmtes Sprichwort besagt, dass wir 

„den Planeten nicht von unseren Vorfahren geerbt, 

sondern uns von unseren Nachkommen ausgeliehen

Eco Workshops Öko-Workshops 

The limit of learning in our eco-workshops is 

the mere children’s imagination. Workshops usually 

start in the nature where children can enjoy 

the fresh air and gather various natural materials 

like beach pebbles, shells and cones at the same 

time getting to know educative and fun stories. 

After that the workshop continues in the open air 

or in play-rooms where children draw and paint, 

paint cones or put up patchwork from the gathered 

material. They are also urged to talk about 

their reflections or other topics such as the nature 

and its protection. 

In den Öko-Workshops sind die Grenzen zwischen 

Unterhaltung und Lernen nur Kinderfantasie. Üblicherweise 

beginnen sie in der Natur, wo die Kinder 

die frische Luft genießen und spielend verschiedene 

Naturmaterialien sammeln können, wie beispielsweise 

Steinchen, Meereskiesel, Muscheln, Zapfen u. ä., 

natürlich durch erzieherische und unterhaltsame Geschichten. 

Danach folgen die Workshops, unter freiem 

Himmel oder in Spielräumen, wo die Kinder Bilder 

malen, Zapfen bemalen, Kollagen aus den gesammelten 

Materialien zusammenfügen... Unausbleiblich 

sind Kindergedanken und Gespräche über verschiedenste 

Themen über die Natur und ihren Schutz. 

Eco pleasure Trips Öko-Ausflüge 

Istria is an inexhaustible source of inspiration 

for pleasure trips, mainly for its natural beauty. 

Water springs, clean local sea waters, abundance 

of flora and fauna, protected environment, forests, 

parks and belvederes, ornithological reserves… 

Each trip is an unforgettable experience 

for a child, accompanied by a story about the 

history of the place visited and importance of its 

preservation, which in the end turns into real fun 

education. 

Istrien ist eine unversiegbare Quelle der Inspiration

ein reines Meeresgebiet, eine riesige Pflanzen- 

und Tierwelt, geschützte Landschaften, Wälder, 

Parks und Aussichtspunkte im Landesinneren, Vogelkundereservate... 

Jeder Ausflug ist ein unglaubliches 

Erlebnis für das Kind und wird, gefolgt 

von einer Erzählung über die Geschichte der besuchten 

Umgebung und der Wichtigkeit ihrer Erhaltung, 

zur wahren Erziehungsunterhaltung.

Knowing the positive effects recreation and games 

spent in the nature have on children most of 

the games are organized in the woods, on meadows, 

beaches, in parks… The exercise, tree 

climbing, ball games, water games, swimming 

competitions, cycling, walking in the forest… 

Beside spending time in the fresh air, nature offers 

great fun time without polluting, as someone 

always takes care of collecting the requisites and 

litter afterwards. 

Sehr günstigen Einfluss auf das Kind nehmen Freizeitsport 

und Spiel in der Natur: im Wald, auf Feldern, 

Küsten, in Parks... Kindergymnastik, Klettern 

auf Bäumen, Ballspiele, Wasserspiele, Schwimmwettbewerbe, 

Fahrradausflüge, Waldspaziergänge... 

Neben dem Aufenthalt an der frischen Luft 

wirbt man immer für den Genuss der Natur ohne 

ihrer Verschmutzung, deshalb wird dafür gesorgt, 

dass Requisiten und Abfälle nach einem Aufenthalt 

im Freien aufgesammelt werden.

Die Schönheiten der Tierwelt 

Umag and Istria are a home for many animal 

species. Thanks to the preservation of their natural 

habitats and care provided for them children 

can spend time in their presence and observe 

them from close. One of the examples is the 

Squirrel Park where these little nice animals and 

their charming play can be seen. Children can learn 

there all about the squirrels’ origin and their 

characteristics, admire their play and even make 

costumes, toys and drawings in the programme 

organized for the occasion. There are similar 

workshops on the subject of some other sea and 

coastal animal species (fish, crabs, sea-urchin and 

shells, bees, birds etc.) 

Umag und Istrien sind das Zuhause vieler Tierarten, 

und dank des erhaltenen natürlichen Biotops 

und der Pflege haben Kinder die Möglichkeit, sich 

in ihrer unmittelbaren Nähe aufzuhalten und sie ungestört 

zu erkunden. Ein Beispiel dafür ist der Eichhörnchenpark, 

der diesen sympathischen Tierchen 

gewidmet ist, die sich so in den Wäldchen entlang 

der Küste eingelebt haben, dass es nicht selten ist, 

ihr charmantes Spiel zu genießen. Im Eichhörnchenpark 

können Kinder alles über ihre Herkunft 

und ihre Charakteristika lernen, ihr Zusammenspiel 

bewundern, wobei während dieses Gelegenheitsprogramms 

Kostüme, Spielsachen, Bilder u. ä. ausgearbeitet 

werden. Ähnliche Workshops finden auch 

zum Thema vieler anderen Tierarten aus dem Meer 

und dem Küstenraum statt (Fische, Krebse, Meeresigel 

und Muscheln, Bienen, Vögel...)

priceless. Depending on the season children can 

participate in various thematic workshops such 

as: Lavender picking, Olive day, Grape day etc. 

Workshops include making souvenirs and playing 

fun games. 

Den autochthonen Mittelmeerraum zu erleben, ist ein 

unschätzbarer Wert. Saisonbedingt werden für Kinder 

verschiedene Werkstätten organisiert, wie: Lavendelernte, 

Oliventage, Traubentage... mit der Ausarbeitung 

von Souvenirs und Unterhaltungsspielen.

A tourist resort Sol Stella Maris recently became 

richer for a new recreational activity – 

the overture in one of the most popular sports 

in the world – golf. The golf driving range is 

located on a lawn behind the reception-desk 

of the campsite and is open every day. The 

mayor of Umag (CRO), Bratislava (SK) and 

Busolente (I) attended the opening. 

Das reiche Sportangebot der Touristenanlage 

von Sol Stella Maris wurde kürzlich durch 

eine neue Rekreationsmöglichkeit bereichert 

– Einführung zum beliebtesten Sport 

der Welt – Golf. Die Driving Range liegt am 

Rasen des Autocampingplatzes, ist täglich 

geöffnet, und an der Eröffnung nahmen die 

Bürgermeister von Umag (HR), Bratislawa 

(SK) und Busolente (I) teil. 

Nordic walking 

Nordic walking is a new form of physical 

activity suitable for all age groups. It is in 

fact walking with the help of specially designed 

sticks suitable for most of the terrains, which 

is in the combination with nature and fresh air 

particularly good for your health. One of the 

most picturesque of the terrains is the 45 km 

long Umag Riviera with the magnificent promenade 

by the sea. It is not surprising that many 

people choose Umag just to be able to enjoy 

that dynamic sport. There are also Nordic walking 

courses organized in Umag where sticks 

can be rented. 

Nordic Walking ist eine neuere körperliche 

Aktivität, die sich für alle Altersklassen eignet. 

Eigentlich ist es Laufen mit speziell hergestellten 

Stöcken, kann fast überall durchgeführt 

werden, und in der Kombination mit der 

Natur und der frischen Luft ist es sehr gesund. 

Eine der besten Strecken dafür ist die 45 

km lange Riviera von Umag mit einem wunderschönen 

Spazierweg am Meer entlang, deshalb 

wundert es nicht, dass viele Umag als 

Urlaubort aussuchen, um diesen dynamischen 

Sport zu praktizieren. In Umag gibt es auch 

eine Anfängerschule mit Stockverleih.
