Editorial Auch 2006 – 25 Jahre nach seiner Gründung – hat das BIBA wieder einen erfreulichen Geschäftsverlauf gehabt. Das Institut hat sich mit seiner Ausrichtung auf Produktion und Logistik bei der Einwerbung von Forschungsgeldern und ergänzend dazu in der industriellen Auftragsforschung sehr gut aufgestellt. Das 7. EU-Forschungsrahmenprogramm bedeutete umfangreiche Vorbereitungen. Mit dem Fokus auf die zukünftigen Chancen hat das BIBA bereits zahlreiche Anträge auf den Weg gebracht. Dem Transfer verpflichtet, setzt das BIBA auf eine anwendungsorientierte Forschung. Die Zahl der Patentanmeldungen und ebenso die Vermarktung von Lizenzen haben sich erfreulich entwickelt. Mit dem „Paketroboter“ fand eine preisgekrönte BIBA-Entwicklung den Weg in die industrielle Serienfertigung und zum Anwender. Auch das neue „LogDynamicsLab“ des Bremen Research Cluster for Dynamics in Logistics, das als Anwendungs- und Demonstrationszentrum für RFID und andere mobile Technologien in der Logistik am BIBA angesiedelt ist, hatte bei der Wirtschaft einen guten Start. An einem großen Erfolg war das BIBA gemeinsam mit Instituten wie dem BIAS und dem IWT im November beteiligt: Die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) beschloss die Einrichtung des Sonderforschungsbereiches „Mikrokaltumformen“ (SFB 747). Damit arbeitet das Institut nun an vier Sonderforschungsbereichen der DFG an der Universität Bremen mit. Dank des großen Engagements der Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter sowie der über viele Jahre bewährten Industriekooperationen konnte das BIBA auch sein ungewöhnlich praxisnahes Lehrangebot aufrecht erhalten und neue Lehrprojekte in Verbindung mit der Industrie initiieren. Wir danken unseren Auftraggebern, Kooperationspartnern und Fördergebern für ihr Vertrauen und die erfolgreiche gemeinsame Arbeit. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Scholz-Reiter (Geschäftsführender Direktor) 25 years after its establishment, 2006 has been another very positive business year for the BIBA institute. Having placed its focus on production and logistics with the acquisition of research funds and also supplementary in industrial contract research, the institute has done very well. The 7th EU Research Framework Programme implied extensive preparation. With its focus placed on future possibilities, BIBA came out with many proposals. BIBA is committed to the transfer of knowledge and sets on applicationoriented research. The number of patent applications and likewise the marketing of licences have progressed well. With the parcel robot, a reward-winning BIBA development found its way to industrial serial production and to the user. The new “LogDynamicsLab” of the Bremen Research Cluster for Dynamics in Logistics, which is settled in the BIBA institute as application and demonstration centre for RFID and other mobile technologies in logistics, has also had a very satisfactory economical initiation. BIBA registered great success with institutes such as BIAS and IWT in November: The German Research Foundation (DFG) decided on the establishment of the Collaborative Research Centre „Mikrokaltumformen” (SFB 747). The institute now has 4 Collaborative Research Centres funded by the German Research Foundation at the University of Bremen. Owing to the immense commitment of the employees as well as the established industrial cooperations, BIBA could maintain its unusual practically relevant range of courses and initiate new educational projects together with industrial companies. We would like to thank our contractors, cooperation partners and sponsors for the successful mutual work and their confidence in us. 1
