Spheros has undeniably “arrived” in the USA.
The American Public Transportation
Association Exposition, more
commonly referred to as APTA
Expo, is North America’s largest
transit show and is only held every
three years. APTA Expo hosts attendees
from all segments of
the transport business, including
North American transit bus OEM’s,
partnering companies and current
and prospective end users.
Spheros North America collaborated
with the marketing department
at Spheros headquarters to
develop a dynamic booth display
featuring Spheros and our industry-leading
hybrid products. The
booth’s sleek, modern feel captured
the attention of visitors and
introduced them to Spheros’ product
line.
Asked what he saw as the biggest
success at the APTA show, Heiko

CC225 debuts in the mining sector
At the recent Electra Mining Exhibition, Spheros took the opportunity to showcase the CC225 in its latest application:
cooling a personnel carrier. The latter was built in collaboration between Scania Mining South Africa and Khululeka Body
Builders. Body builder specialist Khululeka manufactured a regular square body completely of Domex steel and Busmark,
one of our other featured customers, did the final interior trim.
The vehicle is unique in that it
complies with all international
standards set by the mining industry.
It achieved this by fitting
an over-cab ROPS (rollover protection
system). With this steel
rollover bar fitted, the vehicle can
flip over 180° and the roof will take
the entire weight of the vehicle
without structural ingress into the
passenger compartment. It thus
offers improved survivability for
all passengers. At the same time,
the rollover bar provides protection
for the rooftop air conditioning
system. The vehicle is also
fitted with seatbelts and lighting
equipment for driving into open
cast mines.
South Africa has long since been
on the world map as far as mining
is concerned, and the major
exhibition draws people from all
over the world. Special interest is
attracted from Australia and the
South American continent.
The exhibition covers all excavated
materials such as gold, coal,
hard rock, diamonds and copper,
to mention but a few. It also features
mining types such as open
cast, slope, etc. Coincidently, the
exhibition grounds are built on
the site of an old mine and the
remaining mine dumps are ideally
suited to vehicle and equipment
demonstrations. The exhibition is

Nordamerikas größte Bus-Messe
und findet im dreijährigen Rhythmus
statt. Die Veranstaltung deckt
alle Aspekte und Interessen rund
um das Bus-Geschäft der OEMs,
Zulieferer und Endkunden ab.
In Zusammenarbeit mit dem
Spheros Headquarter in Gilching
wurde ein neues CI konformes
Standkonzept erarbeitet. In gewohnt
modernem Design gelang
es, den Spheros Markencharakter
zu transportieren und das Produktportfolio,
v.a. die aktuellen
hybridfähigen Produkte, displaystark
zu präsentieren, was viele
Besucher an den Stand lockte.
„Der größte Erfolg der diesjährigen
Veranstaltung ist, die Entwicklung
und die Anerkennung der
Spheros Nordamerika in den letzten
drei Jahren im Markt zu sehen,
zu erleben und heute bestätigt
zu bekommen“, so Heiko Baufeld,
CEO Spheros NA. „Das spiegelt
sich eben wider in unserem neuen
Messeauftritt, aber vor allem auch
an dem großen Interesse der Besucher,
die sich über die Spheros Produkte
und Lösungen informiert

CC225 gibt ihr Debüt im Bergbau
Anlässlich der letzten Electra Mining Exhibition in Johannesburg hatte Spheros Südafrika Gelegenheit, die CC225 als Applikation
zur Kühlung von Mannschaftswagen im Bergbaubetrieb vorzustellen. Die Fahrzeuge werden gemeinschaftlich von
der Scania Mining South Africa und dem Buskarosserie-Hersteller Khululeka gebaut, der spezielle quadratische Korpus ist
dabei komplett aus Domex Stahl gefertigt. Mit der Innenausstattung war Busmark, ein weiterer Spheros-Kunde, beauftragt.

speziell für den Tagebaubetrieb
ausgerüstet.
Südafrika hat in Bezug auf den
Bergbau eine lange Tradition. So
zieht die Ausstellung jedes Jahr
ein großes Publikum aus aller Welt
an. Besonderes viele Interessenten
kommen dabei aus Australien und
dem südamerikanischen Kontinent.
Auf der Messe geht es um
Bergbau aller Art, den Abbau von
Gold, Kohle, Diamanten und Kupfer,
nur um einige zu nennen, aber
auch um Themen wie Tagebau und
Untertagebau. Die Ausstellungsflächen
befinden sich auf einem
ehemaligen Minengelände. Die
zurückgebliebenen Halden bieten
so perfekte Gegebenheiten, die
Fahrzeug- und Ausstattungsmöglichkeiten
zu präsentieren.
