IVECO
An important step in the
growth of PCI, was the nomination
of IVECO to individualize
POLYTEC as supplier to
develop and produce the third
generation of roof modules
for the new vehicle Stralis
AS-L, launched in 2007.

The new roof module is definitely
innovative, because it is made
in SMC technology, an ambitious
challenge was won by POLYTEC
with the decision to invest in a
new press of big dimensions and
a clamping force of 3,000 tons,
equipped with a robot for the product
loading/unloading and dribbling
operations.
One big mould manufactures the
outer panels with a weight of approx.
70 kg, which integrates various
functions among which the
numerous fixings of the accessories
are integrated through gluing
operation and the roofs are painted
in 200 different water-based
colours.
It is completed with all interior finishing
elements and accessories
before being shipped to the customer.

POLYTEC COMPOSITES ITALIA
not only supplies truck roofs to
IVECO but a different range of
products, also realized in composite
materials, both on the Stralis
and Eurocargo vehicles, such as
door extensions, entry steps and
grills with yearly volumes superior
to 140,000 pieces, delivered to the
Italian and foreign plants of the
customer, in painted condition.
The close and continuous collaboration
between the Research and
Development department of PCI
and the IVECO Technical departments
has the objective to develop
future roof modules in composite
material looking for new
solutions concerning the increase
of mechanical and acoustics performances,
passive safety, weight
vehicle reduction and further integrations
of functions.

Through the acquisition of
POLYTEC COMPOSITES GERMANY
(former Menzolit-Fibron) in April
2007, the POLYTEC GROUP became
with its POLYTEC AUTOMOTIVE
COMPOSITES DIVISION the biggest
producer of composite parts in
Europe. The Division has a consolidated
and qualified Know-how in
the development of components,
SMC material and the support and
improvement of competitiveness,
engineering capacity, fundamental
to face the present and future
objectives which IVECO and the
continuous and dynamic evolution
of the market itself.
The active participation of the
POLYTEC GROUP at the European
Composite Recycling Services
Company (ECRC) is the base to
reduce and reuse SMC material
in the near future.

Ein wichtiger Wachstumsschritt
der PCI war die Nominierung
durch IVECO als
Zulieferer, Entwickler und
Produzent der dritten Generation
von Dachmodulen für
den neuen Stralis AS-L, der
2007 eingeführt wurde.
Das neue Dachmodul ist definitiv
innovativ, denn es wird mit SMC-
Technologie gefertigt. Dafür hat
POLYTEC in eine neue Presse mit
riesigen Dimensionen und einer
Schließkraft von 3.000 Tonnen
investiert, die mit einem Roboter
für diverse Arbeitsvorgänge ausgestattet
ist.
In einer großen Form werden die
Außenteile mit einem Gewicht
von ca. 70 kg gefertigt. Es werden
gleichzeitig mehrere Befestigungen
eingebracht, an die später
durch Klebevorgänge Zubehörteile
montiert werden. Die Dächer
werden in 200 verschiedenen
Farben auf Wasserbasis lackiert.
Vor dem Versand an den Kunden
werden außerdem alle Innen- und
Zubehörteile montiert.
Doch die POLYTEC COMPOSITES
ITALIA liefert nicht nur LKW-
Dächer an IVECO, sondern auch
viele andere Produkte aus
Composites-Materialien, die sowohl
beim Stralis als auch beim
Eurocargo zum Einsatz kommen.
Dazu gehören Türverlängerungen,
Einstiegsleisten und Kühlergrills
mit einem Volumen von über
140.000 Teilen pro Jahr, die bereits
lackiert an die Werke des Kunden
in Italien und im Ausland geliefert
werden.
Ziel der engen und fortlaufenden
Zusammenarbeit zwischen der
Forschungs- und Entwicklungsabteilung
von PCI und den technischen
Abteilungen bei IVECO ist
die zukünftige Entwicklung von
Dachmodulen aus Composites-
Material, indem man nach neuen
Lösungen für eine Steigerung der
mechanischen Festigkeiten so wie
der passiven Sicherheit sucht und
eine Reduktion des Akustikpegels
bei gleichzeitiger Senkung des
Fahrzeuggewichts und weitere
Integrationen von Zusatzfunktionen
erzielt.
Seit der Übernahme von POLYTEC
COMPOSITES GERMANY (ehemals
Menzolit-Fibron) im April 2007,
ist die POLYTEC GROUP mit ihrer
POLYTEC AUTOMOTIVE COMPOSITES
DIVISION der größte Produzent
von Composites-Formteilen in
Europa. Die Division verfügt über
qualifiziertes Know-how bei der
Entwicklung von Komponenten
aus SMC-Material, unterstützt
bzw. verbessert damit die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit
und die technischen
Kompetenzen der Gruppe.
Sie stellt sich somit den aktuellen
und zukünftigen Herausforderungen
von IVECO und dem dynamischen
und sich ständig weiterentwickelnden
Markt.
Die aktive Teilnahme der POLYTEC
GROUP an der European Composite
Recycling Services Company
(ECRC) bildet die Grundlage für
die Anstrengungen der Gruppe
zur Verbrauchssenkung und der
Wiederverwendung von SMC-
Materialien in naher Zukunft.
