Durch eine Armbewegung einen
Vogel zwitschern lassen oder per
Kopfnicken Gitarre spielen: Mit der
an Universitat Pompeu Fabra in
Barcelona entwickelten Wearable
Music geht das! Und zwar dank
dreier Sensoren, die irgendwo
zwischen Schuh, Shorts und Shirt
an die Kleidung geheftet werden.
Durch Bewegung entstehen
Klänge. Plötzlich werden die
Baseballcap oder die Socken zum
fantastischen Instrument! Wer
mag, kann die voreingestellten
Sounds nach Gusto verändern und
sich selbst in eine mobile Band
verwandeln.
Arm movements cueing birds to sing or a nod of the head striking up guitar
music—Wearable Music developed at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona
makes it happen. Actually, it’s the work of three sensors applied to the user’s
shoes, pants and shirt. Then, movement makes music. A baseball cap or, say, a
pair of socks suddenly becomes a fantastic instrument! The preset sounds can
be modified to the user’s taste. Become a one-person marching band!
Die fahrende Zuckerwattmaschine
Kurz vor Schulschluss hat die 3C am Gmundner BRG Schloss Traunsee
während eines zweitägigen Kunstprojekts eine fahrende Zuckerwattemaschine
gebaut. Die besteht im Wesentlichen aus einem Fahrrad,
das mit einer Zuckerwattemaschine verbunden ist. Wer fest in die
Pedale tritt, versetzt einen mit Zucker gefüllten Behälter mit vielen
Löchern in flotte Drehbewegung. Ein Bunsenbrenner bringt den
Zucker auf Temperatur und verflüssigt ihn, sodass er dank Zentrifugalkraft
durch die Löcher austritt und beim Abkühlen zu dünnen
Zuckerfäden kristallisiert.
Shortly before summer recess,
Class 3C at Schloss Traunsee
High School in Gmunden
completed a two-day art
project: a mobile cotton candy
machine. It essentially consists
of a bicycle hooked up to a
cotton candy maker. When you
really get those pedals moving,
the mechanism rotates a
sugar-filled container with lots
of holes in it. A Bunsen burner
heats up the sugar and liquefies
it, and centrifugal force
causes the liquid to run out of
the holes. At this point, it cools
down and crystallizes into thin
threads of sugar.
u19 – CREATE YOUR WORLD EVENTS
Warm-up
Do/Thu 30. 8. 13:00 – 17:00
Ars electronica Center, Maindeck
Los geht’s! u19 – CREATE YOUR WORLD geht in die zweite Runde.
Let’s go! u19 – CREATE YOUR WORLD is on the move. You’re cordially invited
to stroll around the festival grounds, drop in on an open lab or two, and
check out the exhibitions. From 1 to 5 PM on the Maindeck, actor/entertainer
Tom Pohl (AT) will present the various projects, as well as insights, prospects
and overviews about all that’s in store over the next few days. Where can I
print in 3D or test drive a vehicle powered by the rechargeable battery of
a power drill? Where can I co-design games and videos, or work on
illuminated letters and soundcloudminiatures for the voestalpine Klangwolke?
Cool chill-out music provides just the right soundscape for enjoying
the scene on the Maindeck and the festival grounds. Have fun being part of
the action. There’s a lot going on over the next few days.
Dass Medien bilden, ist unbestritten. Wie sie jedoch bilden, ist unklar. Sind
sie Dokument, Beweis, Information, Unterhaltung oder zielgerichtete Propaganda?
Darüber diskutieren Michael Schmitz (ehemaliger ZDF-Auslandskorrespondent
und Autor von Psychologie der Macht), Gerhard Haderer
(Karikaturist), Gerfried Stocker (Künstlerischer Leiter der Ars Electronica),
Ulrike Greiner (Rektorin der Pädagogischen Hochschule OÖ) sowie Agnes
Aistleitner (u19-Gewinnerin 2012).
Zur Einstimmung gibt es davor eine Exklusivführung durch das Ars Electronica
Center.
That media educate is undisputed; how they do it is unclear. Are they
documents, proof, information, entertainment, or targeted propaganda?
This topic will be discussed by Michael Schmitz (former ZDF foreign
correspondent and author of a book on the psychology of power), Gerhard
Haderer (caricaturist), Gerfried Stocker (artistic director of Ars Electronica),
Ulrike Greiner (vice-chancellor a teacher’s college) and Agnes Aistleitner
(u19 winner in 2012). By way of introduction, there’ll be an exclusive tour
through the Ars Electronica Center.
