Sailing Instructions<br />
1. General Rules<br />
1.1 The Sharpie-EURO will be governed by the “rules” as defined in the<br />
• Racing Rules of Sailing 2009–2012 (RRS) of the ISAF<br />
• ISAF Regulations (ISAF),<br />
• Wettsegelordnung (WO) of the DSV<br />
(Racing Prescriptions of the German Sailing Association)<br />
• Rules of the Sharpie Class (CR),<br />
• Notice of Race (NR) <strong>and</strong> these<br />
• Sailing Instructions (SI).<br />
1.2 In any case of controversy the English version of the “rules” shall prevail. Exception:<br />
At questions concerning the WO the German version shall prevail.<br />
1.3 These Sailing Instructions (SI) can be amended by posting the amendment on the<br />
official Notice Board. Amendments must be announced until 20.00 pm the day before<br />
they will become valid.<br />
1.4 The sail number given in the Entry Form must be carried.<br />
1.5 No change of helmsman will be permitted. A change of crew must be permitted by the<br />
Race Committee 2 hours before the start.<br />
1.6 When racing competitors are prohibited to use radios or mobile phones.<br />
Mobilephones must be switched off when racing.<br />
1.7 Racing boats must give way to vessels not competing <strong>and</strong> to all commercial shipping<br />
according to the Conventions on the International Regulation for Preventing Collisions<br />
at Sea (COLREGs) der IMO <strong>and</strong> to the SeeSchStrO.<br />
2. Schedule of Races<br />
2.1 10 races are scheduled for the Championship series.<br />
2.2 Racing days are Monday, 02.08.2010 to Friday, 06.08.2010.<br />
2.3 The Warning Signal for the first race is scheduled for Monday, 02.08.2010, 08.25h.<br />
2.4 The starting times of the following races will be announced by signals following the<br />
precedent race or by announcement on the Notice Board.<br />
2.5 There will be no Warning Signal later than Friday, 06.08.2010, 13.55h.<br />
3. Scoring<br />
3.1 The Scoring will be according to the Low-Point-System (RRS, Appendix A).<br />
3.2 There must be a minimum of four races completed for the Championship to be<br />
awarded.<br />
3.3 When 5, 6 or 7 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her<br />
race scores excluding her worst score. When more than 7 races have been completed,<br />
a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.<br />
4. Prizes<br />
4.1 Prizes will be awarded for the best 12 boats of the series. The winner of the series is<br />
European Champion 2010 in the Sharpie Class.<br />
4.2 Additional prizes will be awarded according to the Notice of Race (NR).
