Black-nose sheep “Meet the Sheep”
Between 1. July and mid-September 2023 around 150 Wallis
black-nose sheep graze on the Gornergrat.
Meet the Sheep
Who has never heard of them? Walis’s famous black-nose sheep
with their spiralled horns, black patches and special fleeces!
During the months of July to September the black-nose sheep
live on the Gornergrat and you can meet some of them during
your excursion on the Gornergrat. They are easily located as they
are wearing GPS trackers.
The flock is led by a shepherdess during the day and she is happy
to answer your questions about this breed of sheep. She is available
at designated times and has a lot of interesting information
to share.

Rotenboden train station.
The Zermatt/Gornergrat region is famous for its unique and varied
flora and here are many rare plants that are otherwise seldom
seen.

You can learn exciting information about the Gornergrat, flora,
fauna and animals on the Gornergrat at 11 posts between the
Gornergrat and Riffelberg. Duration approx. 2 h.
