D<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g with the stars Gornergrat<br />
At 3100 m, your hosts up at the Kulm Hotel Gornergrat serve a<br />
great buffet with “Fondue Ch<strong>in</strong>oise” (with meat) followed by<br />
dessert. Your local guide to the stars, Peter Salzmann, will then<br />
expla<strong>in</strong> the star constellations and how they were <strong>in</strong>fluenced by<br />
the ancient Greek sagas. If the weather gods are will<strong>in</strong>g, then<br />
you will have a spectacular view of the night sky from the hotel’s<br />
terrace.<br />
The highlight of the even<strong>in</strong>g is to see the stars by telescope from<br />
the dome <strong>in</strong> the observatory. When the weather is favourable<br />
the sight is amaz<strong>in</strong>g. Professional explanations <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
dry-navigation with the guide Peter Salzmann.<br />

Guided w<strong>in</strong>ter hikes with fondue-fun<br />
(from 10 persons) with/without snowshoes.<br />
Walk towards the Matterhorn, far away from the ski slopes and<br />
through undisturbed w<strong>in</strong>ter landscapes, while the Matterhorn<br />
presents its best profile. Your hik<strong>in</strong>g guide, supplied by ZERMAT-<br />
TERS, will be wait<strong>in</strong>g for you at the Gornergrat Railway valley<br />
station. After travell<strong>in</strong>g up to Rotenboden station your guided<br />
tour beg<strong>in</strong>s at the Igloo Village with its outdoor bar – and where<br />
your legendary igloo fondue is served. Once fortified, the hike<br />
cont<strong>in</strong>ues to Riffelberg and the trip back down to the valley. As<br />
you roam across the snow you will hear <strong>in</strong>trigu<strong>in</strong>g tales and lots<br />
of <strong>in</strong>siders’ tips from your ZERMATTERS hik<strong>in</strong>g guide.<br />
