Besuch! The year 2007 will witness the fourth edition of Skulptur
Projekte Münster. This summer, after exhibitions in 1977,
1987, and 1997, the city and its public spaces will once again
become one giant stage for contemporary art. Between 17
June and 30 September 2007, thirty-six international artists
have been invited to explore changing perceptions of and current
perspectives on art, public space, and the urban environment.
The artists’ projects will be accompanied by a rich and
varied supporting programme, which we would like to present
to you in this programme book.
To celebrate the opening of skulptur projekte münster 07, the
city of Münster is staging a public festival called Flur 17 on 16
June in collaboration with Münster Marketing. With the projekt
bar at An der Rothenburg 30, the Münster Department of Arts
and Culture has already set a festive mood with readings and
cabaret performances in anticipation of the upcoming event.
The supporting programme includes the Blumenberg Lectures:
Space Made UnPublic (together with the Westfälische Wilhelms-
Universität Münster and simultaneous translations (German
English) will be provided), the film series Gemütlich bin ich
selbst. German Cities in Films (with the filmclub münster), the
Salon Talks (with the Freihaus MS initiative), two conversations
with participating artists to conclude the Vorspann series
(with the Münster Academy of Art), the panel discussion by M:
AI (Museum of Architecture and the Art of Engineering, North-
Rhine Westphalia), and additional accompanying events – all
of which will be held in the Metropolis Cinema next to the main
train station. By choosing this venue for his film project Inside
the Opposite, the artist Clemens von Wedemeyer was the first
to suggest reappropriating this long neglected space.
Alongside the exhibition we will also be offering a special outreach
programme. The sommerakademie at An der Rothenburg
30 is a central place for communication where children, youth,

and students as a way to include them, as well, in the discussion
about art and its various audiences. Every day, we will be
providing German-language guided tours for individuals, free
of charge. There is also a special program organized by the LWL
for physicaly and mentaly challenged people. Private tours for
groups and individuals, as well as bicycle tours, can be booked
at the Visitor Centre and are also available in English, French,
Italian, and Dutch. Or you can rent a bicycle and discover the
exhibition for yourself with the help of our shortguide and multimedia
guide.
In this booklet, you will find everything you need to know about
the exhibition programme, including a calendar that provides a
quick overview of all the dates. We hope you enjoy your time at
